@Texas-Hawk-10 What was said on here is he wanted to be on ball and main guard only for him to pick Houston and play off ball
Which means Dejuan Harris wasn’t the real reason Cryer didn’t come here because Cryer was never going to be the lead guard with Houston either over Shead. That tells me that Cryer didn’t come to KU for reasons other than Dejuan Harris. That reason being a genuine screw up by the staff in choosing Arterio Morris for whatever reason.
Fair enough I can see that for sure (no sarcasm - being honest here)
-
@BShark Cliff’s tape is insane (athleticism). Hunter leaving or kj transferring or Flory decommit ting? We get Cliff we got too many bigs…
Zeke I feel bad for he can come in and out perform Juan at pg but will never start. We will hear fodder about how he doesn’t know the offense or run it as well then we will watch the games and all the metrics show offensively we are better when he’s in for d2….i can see it already
Still rejoicing if we get him @BShark
You’ve mentioned Wade Taylor and Tyrese (assuming Hunter)……either would be great but I’m hearing Taylor isn’t gonna be a legit option. Portal guard tbd later means a legit player most likely
-
@DCHawker Don’t bring up the obvious Ive banged this drum for 1,000 times per @Texas-Hawk-10 lol
It’s very true though and wow Hurley is running circles around college ball with what he’s changed philosophy wise.
Instead of practice defense they are working an extra 10-15 minutes on offense and cutting and being so precise and efficient that they won’t be stopped
Only thing stopping them isn’t available in March (a game at AFH)
-
@rcjhdraft If Furphy leaves Liam needs to come on down….
He is one of the best shooters in the class you don’t wait for a portal guy. Saw someone say similar to not wanting Dillingham so we could go portaling last year….some freshman can legit contribute
I as everyone knows don’t trust the staff to figure out this dilemma correctly based on recent results

@BShark I talked with someone the other night about the big situation and there’s some frustration Hunter won’t say hey I’m coming back here fairly soon. He’s been through the process, and the feedback won’t change.
I could take or leave him honestly. Have heard the expectation is that he will come back. But if he doesn’t…eff it add two bigs instead we move.
The Hunter situation for me depends on other dominoes.
We absolutely NEED Hunter to stay if we don’t bring in any automatic plug in scorers.
If not, he’s our guy.

Hope a potential zeke add wouldn’t eliminate adding Liam
They play different positions entirely.

My opinion on the Cliff thing is it just feels so unlikely to me. Started every game for the last 3 years and he’s going to be okay with being a back-up? Guessing we end up with a less splashy name there.

I think KU likes him a lot, but he probably wants more of a role than KU can offer.
-
KU has reached out to Hofstra wing and former ISU player Darlinstone Dubar. Averaged 17 and 7 this year and played well against the better teams on Hofstra’s schedule putting up 24 points on 8 of 13 shooting against Duke, 23 points on 10 of 17 shooting against St. John’s and 24 points on 9 of 16 shooting against AAC regular season champs USF.
This is a guy that looks like he could be a pretty good piece for KU next season.

Asked about him and same problem as Yesufu and Timberlake. Can’t remember plays if the coach told him 2 minutes ago.

Agree. Seems like they are pursuing the best kind of backup option in case the Hunter situation cannot work out in their favor with timeline or whatever. I also fail to see him coming here for a backup role if Hunter returns. His film is fine if you need a 10 and 8 guy but if you’re looking for a 20 and 10 guy he is not that.
-
If Hunter returns and Flory is locked in no matter what, your 3rd big is probably a younger type that’s ready to play backup minutes but perhaps upside to start in 25-26? I don’t know, it’s hard to look past any single year now with any player. Either they are ready to help you now or it doesn’t matter.
If Hunter does return your probably seeking someone with a slightly different skillset then him. Perhaps an Athletic bruiser with more mobility to defend pick and roll etc.

So your talking about someone who can move and defend actually a pick and roll. - Dickinson was such a huge liability when having to play away from the basket - made spacing bad on the offensive end , clogging the middle - Big/slow/ and not that athletic. - Think pretty good reason they have reached out to cliff – maybe not a much offensive – still quality , much more mobile /athletic and really good rim protector. - -I still think Dickinson is gone ,eactly the reason they have reached out to Cliff , cause like you said I don’ think Cliff would come here to come off the bench, and the Staff knows that, and knows quite possibly that Dickinson is gone
-
I’m just trying to figure out what they would want in another big. You’d figure if Hunter is back you need someone that isn’t the same, so you have a different look to give defensively at minimum.

Well defensively anyways Flory gonna give you that- -exceptional rim protector, much more athletic If Dickinson doesn’t come back and I think your seeing more and mor fanbase starting to say they don’t care if he comes back or not- - -BUT if he didn’t come back, you get Cliff to come and he would then start , good rim protecter , good rebounder, hell can’t be any worse rebounder on the offensive glass then Dickinson more athletic then Hunter , quicker, mobile then Fory back him up for the year, and then you could even have KJ for spot duty at the 5 if needed, I think that could work for sure and we would be good with that combo
-
Can we get the whole damn UCONN to transfer to KU? And the coach?

Pharrel Payne is one to watch closely.

Just from a numbers perspective we’re losing two bigs, so it makes sense to add two.

Yup. Don’t want to be forced into playing Flory if he isn’t ready.
-
Agreed, we’ve been burned a lot on 5 star bigs that aren’t ready yet. Plus I am skeptical about any non Joel freshman big playing defense up to Bill’s expectations for a starter

I like him. Minnesota fans are not happy he’s leaving. I had mentioned when he hit that he was a player that saw substantial growth as the season went on. Would be on board with going after him

Happy Zeke Mayo second visit day. Bill bringing out the big guns, goal is to close today.

I hope so. Really hopeful we sign him

would be Huge I think if we could get Zeke
-
Saw from TOS - -That Devin Neal is hanging out with Zeke while he is on his visit. Have hear they are friends - -can’t hurt.
Hopefully we can get him to commit while he is on Campus — not even take his trip to Oklahoma, suppose to visit there on the 13th. - With the way players bailing ship there, Zeke for sure would have Huge minutes
However , however - -with that being said I guess Oklahoma’s NIL all in one pot & football is taking big chunk of that - and we know it’s all about money these days , so we might be ok there - -ROCK CHALK

Post isn’t loading, who is referring to?
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Bronny in the portal and the tweet says he’s heard from Kansas*
*he has not heard from Kansas nor will he
-
@BShark I mean he recruited said guards and he would never recruit over 1 so he has literally done it to himself……does he even realize that?
-
-
@FarmerJayhawk He’s going to Michigan right? Assuming he’s tight with May because he gave him a d1 chance when IU/Purdue didn’t care
He won’t come here though if he can’t be the point right?
Should be: Davis, Zeke, Riley, stud portal 4 and Hunt
Instead we all know that won’t be the lineup…

I think Johnny comes back (but that’s just me) and seems like Liam is going to wait out the draft. If Furphy does stay in I think he’s a Jayhawk

So just heard on a podcast, with Zeke committing, right a of this moment Ku is technically full on roster, HOWEVER things an change and probably will think we have at least 2 more spots - -maybe three. -you figure Jamari could very easily transfer now, - -Zach is probably gone – Dickinson is probably 50/50 at best, not sur what he is waiting on about announcing cause sorry he is just not making an NBA team- - old School positional big in the NBA maybe 10 years ago he would-be fine-- today no.
Then you have Johnny , projected late 1st round draft. Latest I saw was Kevvin was 22nd & Furphy was23rd pick. I think we en up with 3 more yet, more likely then not Jamari, - -then next last I heard it was like 60/40 Furphy was declaring/entring-- So two I think is pretty solid-- the Hunter—who know 50/50 maybe
Then even though he said he is coming back, does Jackson change his mind ? -Now you have Juan obviously—Zeke could always back Juan for periods and you have Philon- - -pg is going to be full with those three–does he go. - -I think w end up with uet three more. - -So then we push still for Cliff—then hopefully Mcneely decides to come , 7 then maybe another portal wing for depth- -gonna be interesting
-
@FarmerJayhawk He’s gonna be a pg in the nba there is zero reason he goes somewhere and plays off the ball right?
-
@kuballin10 I doubt it. He’s a career less than 1 AST:TO guy. I don’t think he’s a NBA guy but he can make good money overseas as a shooter/instant offense
-
And just for reference, another really good college 2 that couldn’t play point. Junior year (off ball) was 2:1. Senior (on ball) was 1:1. It’s a very, very hard transition to on the ball and I frankly don’t think he can do it.
-
And last point on it, LJ Cryer is getting shopped as a PG and nobody is biting. Because he’s just not that. Nothing wrong with being a very good scoring guard and having a Keith Langford pro career.
-
From TOS - which lines up with how I saw it. The love for d2 will scare them away……
“FWIW on the FAU guys, they both want to go somewhere to play PG. Don’t know which, if either, will follow May. At least that is what their agent has told people last 24 hours.”
-
@kuballin10 Ryan and I are buds and we swap notes almost daily. The market won’t be all that good for Davis as a PG, at least among good teams.
-
Davis will end up at Michigan.
-
IIRC, many of the stay/go announcements come after Self meets with players. Seems like announcements come around the time of the annual banquet. Is there a date set for that event?
