If we end up with Zuby and Mccullar there will be no telling me anything next portal season
-
Cue Self rampage
-
@FarmerJayhawk - Iâd love to know what Self is thinking now!
-
@Gorilla72 âextremely pissedâ
-
Must have been afraid of not starting at the 4 because of kj. Bill does it to himself he canât be that mad he has his favorites.
Mgbako would have been a solid 4 but if his shooting wasnât as good as some said so be it.
Nelson>>>Mgbako
@FarmerJayhawk what is this grad transfer thing about? Donât they have to be in the portal?
-
@FarmerJayhawk Did he stuck with this after his IU visit because timeline saysâŚ.
Loved KU but still taking visits to be smart
IU visit happens - he cancels his Louisville visit who is the coach he had a connection with
Commits to IU - appears we should have seen this one
-
@kuballin10 wanted guarantees (PT and $) that KU wouldnât give but didnât stop him and the family from committing.
Grad transfers can enter the portal any time

Youâre saying HCBS just circled the IU game on the calendar?
-
@Gorilla72 lets just say donât be surprised if KJ sets a pretty hard screen on old Mac
-
@FarmerJayhawk Iâm sure heâs not the first recruit to after or on the visit say Iâll commitâŚ.to only continue his other visits and ultimately commit elsewhere going back on his word
-
@kuballin10 Rayjon Tucker was another one I had nailed since he told Townsend it was a done deal and he was coming, only to later visit Memphis and get a bag. Then not actually graduate so the whole thing was moot. Probably the weirdest one I remember

He would be a nice pick up for sure, but pretty sure he is staying in the draft is what I heard anyways, what you think ? - -But you know what big boy - - you know & I know we are going to be just fine as long as we have Coach Self. - -He will find players, and if they not quite as talented - - donât matter cause as we know from past experience - -Coach is a wizard with him and the staff developing players. My rational sunk in a little after I went through the pissed stage. Now simmered down and KNOW we are fine cause we are KU BABY - -cRIMSON & bLUE âGO KU
-
@jayballer67 man, idk. Weâll see after the combine. Heâs a prospect that could make a team fall in love. But also they could tell him to go play big boy basketball and see if he can do it.

Kaluma szn imo, maybe some McCullar as a treat.
iI wish Kevin would come back , add a little defensive presence, as we alredy know what he can do on the defensive end, him & Juan - -donât think it will happen - -but as we just saw with ass hat -Never say Never
-
@jayballer67 100% agree. Kevin definitely doesnât want to come back but everyone has their price

-
@FarmerJayhawk Doesnât sound like this will be the way it works out but man it would sure be nice if it did.
Nelson and maybe another wing or bench big?
Iâve lost track but donât we have 2 open schollys or 3?
-
@kuballin10 yeah the combine is the big X factor. My guess is a 4 (whether thatâs Nelson or a big wing) and a developmental big. Eat 2 of the penalty this year and give us more flexibility over the next couple years. We have 9 players now, 2 more makes 11

This makes a ton of sense though I think Bill would fill the last one. You only really need one more real guy (for that big wing spot) and then post depth.

OH NO KJ TO MIAMI

-
@FarmerJayhawk It looks like the guy in pink slid into a 6â spot between seats. Lol poor guy is wedged in there!
-
-
Are there actually any names being linked to KU right now or is Self waiting for players to withdraw from the draft before pursuing any other players?
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 only Grant Nelson at the moment. Havenât seen any others.
-
Notably there is a dead period from May 18-26 so if we are going to see another visitor soon it will need to basically be the first half of next week. Starting Tuesday at the latest if they want a full visit.
-
How many scholarships are left? 4?
- Juan
- KJ
- Dickinson
- Timberlake
- Morris
- Elmarko
- CJ
- McDowell
Did I miss anything?
-
Have to think KU gets involved with Kaluma. Have to think they try to with Nelson.
Would love to see us get involved with Julian Phillips.
Nkamhoua Is intriguing.
They need a big and a wing still who will play. But everyone wants to start. Hard to find guys willing to come off the bench these days

Arizona is in deep with Kaluma.
I think Phillips and Nkamhoua are both Guandong Tigers but there is a slim shot Phillips would return to college.

Man there just isnât much left. Chatter with Kev, but Iâm not buying. Crazy to think weâd have so many open spots at this point.

So, what happens if a player enters the portal and doesnât get an acceptable offer for whatever reason. Can they stay, or once they enter the portal do they have to leave?
-
@BShark Well that sucksâŚâŚ
Holding out hope for a stud 3/4 pulling out of the draft.
Any chance at the Utah Valley kid? Assuming he wants to start.
Seems we are fairly set at the 1, 2, 3 and 5 spots (not that Bill looks at it that way anymore).

Could be wrong bUT , I think - -I think , they could always go back. Yet I am not 1000 % sure

You can withdraw and return to your original school if there is a spot there. Itâs happened quite a bit already.

I think the big will be more of a project.
The big wing will ideally be a rotation guy with a very real role.

You hering anything about the kid from Marshall?- you know if there is any kind of interest there ?
-
@BShark Hope we pull Emanuel Miller or Nelson - pipe dreams but either would be better than Mgbako or at least more proven.
I really want KJ to play the backup 5 role with Adamâs at the 4 spelling whichever stud nba draft dropout we get.
Seems that Juan, Morris/Elmarko and Timberlake are set 1-3 with Hunter at the 5
-
@BShark If we get Nelson whatâs our starting lineup?
-
@kuballin10 Juan Terio Timberlake Nelson Hunter

That lineup BETTER scare you or anyone else a little lol. - -Timberlake & then NELSON - -& HUNTER - -if that trio doesnât scare you a little then let me have some of what your taking cause thats some good stuff - -might want to take little numbing meds to cause that trio could give you a beatin
-
@rockchalkjayhawk I like it a lot with the caveat that thereâs some projection involved. You know what youâre getting with Juan and Hunter. Morris is already a very good defender, and shot it very well in league and postseason play. Timberlake is a bucket, especially as a supporting character. Nelsonâs efficiency wasnât great, but NDSU also didnât have any guards. He led them in scoring, rebounding, blocks, and assists. The hope is the efficiency numbers get better playing with real guards and a dominant center. The worry is defense but thatâs two solid rim protectors and two very good guards.
-
Lineup projection is A national champion point guard. A word, I mean woman beater guard. A thirty year old guard. A college stud center with zero social awareness. And a player that is not signed and is in draft tryouts currently. Weird looking lineup. Chemistry will be important.

Thanks for the insight, Farmer. Yup, mostly itâs the unknown for me. Hunter i expect to be good, but his teams didnât exactly tear it up.
I for one just donât get too excited when dudes from D12 schools transfer in â we canât expect miracles there from them at this level. Maturity is great. we could use that.
