Harris on his way to becoming one of my all time Jayhawks. I love his story, how Brauns mom recruited him to KU, how he became an essential part of a national championship team. I love hearing stories of kids who have great difficulty because of parents inability to provide nurture and support enrolling in college and on his way to a bright future.

In college I was in Robinson gym once and this dude asked if I could rebound for him as he was practicing shooting. I said sure, why not. After a while I asked him who he was and he said Darnell Valentine. I wasn’t aware of KU hoops when he was in college but I had heard of him as a pro and it was kind of cool. What was he like as a player at KU?
