I have read some fans who are caught up in the class ranking and still kind of down on recruiting, but it is clear we are recruiting better players. We also do not have as big of a class as everyone most other teams so that is going to drag our ranking down as well.
I will say this was a hell of a cycle for Big 12 in general. Tech with a top 25 class, and Iowa St and K-State both have top 30 or 40 classes depending on where you look. Pretty strong for the conference.
Somebody posted this on a different website. But it shows the average ranking of KU players in a given year. Depending on where you look and if you include transfers I think we may be ahead of a few other B12 schools, but regardless we are clearly moving in the right direction and closing the gap.
2015 - 81.18
2016 - 82.19
2017 - 82.18
2018 - 83.54
2019 - 83.96
2020 - 83.94
2021 - 84.67
2022 - 84.53
2023 - 85.96
-
We rank last in the big 12 recruiting for this yr- – BUT what you have to keep in mind is - -we ( KU only had 12 commits -while other schools was at 24 -23 , 21 so you see these other schools had many more recruits. - -The average ranking of players shows we for sure are headed in the right direction, many players with scores of 85’s - -86 - -and a few 87’s
What these 86’s and 87’s mean is that recruiting analysts’ are saying that these type of players can come in and right off the start from the get go - -these players are ready to contribute from the start, these players will or should make an impact from the start.
We are close to our limit for full of 85 - - they say we might be able to have 6-7 more in this class , we gonna lose maybe a few more after the bowl game
Talking like what would be great is if we could red shirt this entire Freshman class. - Don’t think that’s happening , were getting closer but not yet.
Were still young - when you figure we have 10- -11 returning on the offensive side and quite possible of having 20 – of 22 in the two deep - that’s awesome. This year Coach hit the defensive side pretty hard DL and some secondary exactly where we needed to be. - - Looks like he took care of our kicking issues - - FG’S - extra points - and kickoffs – Coach L is Awesome
-
Numbers are TIGHT. This includes Bean and Booker until we hear different. Also includes all the portal commits plus 2023 signees. Really need a CB, LB, and possibly a QB in the portal or in the late period. Other than that, we’re solid. We’ll see how it changes after the bowl game.

Kleinman and KSU actually have the #289th ranked class according to rivals. He is a hell of a coach and that is pretty salty.
Yeah a top 30 class is very hard to pull off. Future is bright for them especially with Texas and OU leaving.
Have to keep him there… I would bet a lot of money this is his last season in MHK

You thinking KState Coach gone after this year?- -na he ain’t going anywhere - -not this year anyways I don’t think. - If he was he would have already been gone
-
@Kcmatt7 Iowa is the big job to watch

The Grapes would LOSE it if he leaves them for Iowa…holy lateral move Batman.

Missourah is getting drilled 14-3. No wonder they ducked us.

!4 -10 now be careful long way to go
-
Wake had a chance to put this game away when they recovered a muffed punt up 14-3. Proceeded to throw a INT and now it’s a tossup.
-
Dillon Mong? Shawnee Mission East. TE, 6’6” 215. Committed.
-
@Gorilla72 My school! We could have added all our OL together and soaked them, and they would have totaled about 212 lbs.
-
@BShark he’s also from there and they can pay him a lot more than the cats
-
@FarmerJayhawk I’d be making that offer yesterday if I were Iowa but they are weird so who knows.
-
Hey Farmer - - - you hearing any rumblings about Jacobee Bryant hitting the portal ? - - Geesh I sure hope not
-
@jayballer67 he’s staying
-
-
Big visit week. Got an OL, LB, CB, and DE on campus.

@Crimsonorblue22 not at all! I really believe he’s coming back. Sometimes guys change their minds
-

How about we just snag them all lol
-
ONCE AGAIN Faremer looks like you was 100 % correct - - From what I’ve seen within the last hour - -Jason Bean - - IS BACK - -THAT’S GREAT NEWS - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

DE didn’t make it. Which makes the Phelps news even worse.
Believe we snagged the LB though.

So let’s see - - we lost the DE & Corner BUT got the Ol right Farmer ?
-
@jayballer67 yep, also got the LB. Both have 2 years left. Honestly I think Lovell (the OL) beats out Ford at guard. He’s a monster.

ya after I read your post I went to TOS and saw we got our LB JB Brown - - -from Bowling Green. - your right Spencer Lovell is huge - -6’6 335 pounds-- was a Starter for Cal before he got hurt. - -Big day for our Hawks recruiting wise
-
@FarmerJayhawk What about Armaj Reed-Adams this season? Is this the year we finally see him get PT?
If he isn’t going to play O, switch that big boy to the other side of the ball and see what happens lol.
-
@Kcmatt7 he’ll definitely be part of the rotation. Fuchs likes to roll with 8; 5 starters and 3 swing guys. I bet the 5 will be Brown, Lovell, Dirk, Puni, Cabledue, then ARA, Ford, and Baynes as rotation guys. Doiron could get some run since he has reps at center.
-
McGhee
-
-
And Patrick Joyner
-
New RB Dylan McDuffie from Georgia Tech
-
Kansas lands class of 2023 CB Jacoby Davis
-
I wonder who got axed to make room for McDuffie? I thought we were out of spots. They could not renew a scholarship I suppose?
Davis is a great pickup. At a position of need as well.

I read that it could very well be our very inconsistent place kicker/fg kicker, - -talk he graduates soon so his scholli would be the one. - Huge get only thing wish he could be a couple inches taller, he get in coverage with some of the bigger receivers might be mismatch no matter. - there is a few 6’4 - -6’5 wide receivers pretty big disadvantage- - b toss it up - -hope not
-
@jayballer67 could be I suppose, assuming he graduated.

I think I heard that he did

Doing a little catching up, KU has quietly put together a very nice walk on class, complete with a couple P5 transfers. Lots of guys with utility frames who could be DBs or LBs with some development. Dillon Mong could grow into a nice TE. My fav is Grady Seyfert from Beloit (NCK pride!). He’ll be a nice depth piece at DT or interior OL. Played both DT and G in high school, and Beloit has always had a really solid football program, much to my chagrin.

Lots of talk of how our linebacking problems have been taken care of this season - - . Brother I think we can be sneaky good. - For one I think our offense is gonna be just as explosive as last year if NOT MORE I mean we are loaded I think in the receiver spot, not hurting at the RB. - What’s the Scoop on Mcduffie ? - -If I’m right he is the transfer from Georgia Tech running back. - -I think he might be able to take a few snaps-- I mean Neal & HiShaw fingers crossed he can stay healthy he is a animal.
Think our O-Line is in solid shape - -just need to add some conditioning - - little weight / strength.
Still think our main concern even though improved is our defense - -I hope we have gotten bigger taller. I t was so evident in the Arkansas game look at Arkansas players then our guys–just got out matched a lot of times - - need some physicality on the rush ends - - aggressive/mean - -I think gonna be exciting - - I’m stoked Farmer
-
@jayballer67 McDuffie is going to replace Ky Thomas’s snaps. So not a huge role, but depth in case Hishaw goes down again and to preserve Neal.
I don’t think the defense is fixed, but I do think it’ll improve. Losing Lonnie really hurts. However! I love love love what they’ve done at corner. McGhee and Joyner are dudes. I’m concerned about linebacker. Brown is good, but we didn’t add much in terms of numbers. The one to watch here is Jayson Gilliom. Came as a safety but missed last year due to injury. Heard he’s really really good.
I agree on the OL. I think it’ll be better. Brown replacing Bostick should help the run blocking. Big Earl was great but he’s not a mauler. Spencer Lovell probably beats out Ford for a guard spot. That’s some more extra beef.
-
Makes me feel really good to see our latest group of 13 are now on Campus and enrolled for Spring Semester. - Can’t lie I’m stoked you can see Coach is really filling in his guys and talent getting better. - -Couple of these guys are 4 Stars -one was rated a 5 star by one publication , getting some size height and weight.
One’s I’m super excited that are actually here cause I think these guys are REALLY gonna help are : - Austin Booker ( DE ) from Minnesota- Pattrick Joyner ( DE ) from Utah State - Super, Super stoked about Damarius McGee - -4* ( CB ) from LSU -Super Stoked about Logan Brown - -he is the 5 * by the one publlication a 6’6 & 311 pound ( OL ) from Wisconsin - - -Spencer Lovell ( OL ) 6"6 and 335 pounds from Cal-- And realy stoked for our specialist we needed desperately --( PK ) Seeth Keller from Texas State
Super charged for ALL the guys but these to me are gonna be studs ya I realize we don’t have a full 4 years with some of them but still filling in really nice - - -I’m ready
-
Having these guys ready to step in and start next season is huge. Even if you don’t have them for 4 years, bridging that gap while other guys develop is important to avoid a step back to being a 1 or 2 win team.
