Jayhawks in the pros

JoJO had a nice game as well
-
@AsadZ look up, wissox posted it
-
Pretty good night. Joel Embiid: 32 pts 8 reb (32 min) Kelly Oubre: 22 pts 10 reb (41 min) Marcus Morris: 20 pts 4 reb (34 min) Andrew Wiggins: 14 pts 4 reb (32 min) Devonte’ Graham: 12 pts 5 ast (38 min) Ben McLemore: 12 pts 3 reb (35 min)

BMac had a pretty good game defensively against the Warriors, on a night when all the media spotlight was on Curry trying to break the 3-point record. Nice to see him get more minutes. I’ll have to pay more attention to the Blazers now that my local cable carries all their games.
-
Devonte Graham is struggling, shooting percentage is dropping. No Zion means he’s being pressured to score more and it looks like he’s pressing a bit.
-
Embiid leads all scorers in the Sixers win over Golden State. 26 points, 9 boards and 11 of 11 from the line.
Wiggins with 20 points for the Warriors, outscoring Steph who only had 18. Second straight off night from 3 for Curry, just 3 of 14.
-
@nwhawkfan Joel had an ugly line at the half. He was 1-10 I think.
-
Devon and Marcus played against each other in Bulls vs Heat game, both got some PT.
-
@AsadZ Bulls getting destroyed by Covid right now.
-
Whoa Quentin Grimes gets a start tonight, the Knicks get destroyed (covid?) but did he ever produce! 7 3 pointers, 27 points total.
-
@wissox holy cow!
-
@wissox did Selden get in?
-
-
BMac 5-6 on threes. 15 points in 15 minutes. I think, like some of the others here, Ben has benefited from Covid opening up playing time.
-
Devonte Graham hit another game winner for New Orleans tonight. This time about a 60’ shot at the buzzer to beat OKC and had 15 for the game.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 70 ft!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 Well, 61 feet anyway. WOW !

you and me both. what a great guy
-
Devonte at his best - - - WOW
-
Forget about Curry…Devonte Graham is “ruining the game of basketball.”
Now every 12 year old kid will want to chuck it from 60-plus feet !
(Tongue firmly in cheek.)
-
The coolest thing is that DG’s shot came right after the other team tied it up from the center logo!
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 wow! That’s amazing!
-
Graham firing up multiple 3’s tonight, 8-12, ending with 26 points. Wiggins played greatly with 27 with 5 3’s.
-
And BMac goes nuts for the Blazers ! 28 points, 8 of 13 from three in a win over Charlotte. Oubre had 18 for the Hornets.
-
@nwhawkfan Wow! I guess I went to bed before checking the late games. I still can’t figure out why he hasn’t been a steady presence on an NBA team.

that’s our boys - -that’s what we like to see. Got to say I thought Kelly would have a good chance to play pro - -just seems he has done bette then I thought but couldn’t be happier for him.- -Good for B Mac , and the of course Devonte – Devonte - - bein Devonte love it - - ROCK CHALK
-
BMac and Isaiah Thomas were the two guys I was really hoping would get a shot. Watched Isiah in person a couple of times when he played for the UW Huskies a while back. Glad to see the Lakers pick him up, if only for a 10-day. He ended up as their leading scorer last night…19 points in his LA debut.
Coincidentally, both were playing at the same time, which kept my remote busy.

17 points in the last 6 minutes of the game. He’s so good
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich wow! Thanks for sharing that.
Dominated that game offensively from start to finish
-
Jo Jo is a absolute BEAST. - but like they said - -they HAVE GOT TO GET HIM SOME HELP

Geez , just mercy. To think and he actually didn’t want to leave KU at the time , wanted to stay but Coach told him he needed to go – MERCY, you can understand he wasn’t gonna help himself anymore in College what a guy

Cheick played 3 minutes and scored 2 which is half as much as Josh Jackson scored in 21 minutes. JJ’s time must be running out soon. Detroit is 5-24 and he’s hardly played at all since tonight. To me Josh was a kid who didn’t belong in college. He seemed indifferent, had some decent moments I guess, but the rules should have let him go pro. Not sure his problem this year, but again, hardly any PT, goes falling from covid right and left and he still has trouble getting minutes.
-
Nice night for Kelly Oubre with 23, back from a starting role to a sub, but got 32 minutes in the victory. He’s indispensable to that team. Joel Embiid played well but the Sixers lost and are a disappointing .500. The prima donna Ben Simmons can be blamed as his petulent ways have cost the Sixers a chance at being a powerhouse. We want to see Joel win a ring and I thought they had a decent chance with that duo.
-
I feel bad for Joel. He needs a PG to get that ring.
-
Wiggins is one Jayhawk with whom I expected a lot more success in NBA. To me he has underperformed in the league.
I am not sure if this is related to lack of effort or what but wish he could have translated once in a decade type of talent and athleticism he possesses.
-
@AsadZ I guess definition of success is a little vague!! Starter since day 1, 19.5 PPG career average, 4 boards, 3 assists, 42% 3 point shooter this season at least. And starting alongside Stephen Curry on one of the best teams in the league.
I do understand where he’s probably not heading for the HOF or even all star teams that he may be considered a bit of a disappointment, but of all our great players he’s one of relatively rare ones during the last 30 years that has been a steady presence in the league.
-
@wissox I concur that he has been consistent this year. My point is that with his talent he should have been a multi year All Star by now.

The problem with Wiggins in Minnesota was that he, along with Towns, were expected to be the alphas of the team. As we saw during his year here at KU, Wiggins doesn’t have an alpha dog mentality. He’s much better in a supporting role which is what his job is at Golden State where Curry and Draymond are the alphas of that team so Wiggins can just go out and play without worrying about being a leader.
Josh Jackson is the player I’m more surprised about because I thought he was the better overall player at KU than Wiggins was, and he has an alpha dog mentality, but I don’t know if it was a work ethic issue with him or not, but his career has been much more lack luster than I think most people here would’ve predicted.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 My memories of JJ were some minor legal problems, weed maybe? Forgive me if I’m wrong, but character issues may be what’s weighing him down which is really sad. I’ve always guessed that was his issue.
-
Everyone is talented in the NBA. I never was blown away by Wiggins physical gifts as being some level above everyone else. I’m in the “Andrew did just fine and is a fine piece of the puzzle on a good team” camp
-
It’s hard when your OAD classmate is the unheralded Joel Embiid. What about Jabari Parker? For a while he was touted as the jewel of that crop. He’s got one foot out of the league. Andrew did just fine.
-
Wiggs went overall #1 in 2014 draft, Joel was #3.
Joel could have gone #1 but there were some injury concerns if I recall.
-
I never understood how anyone ever expected Simmons to be anything other than the piece of crap who bailed on his LSU teammates.
Character will out.
-
@wissox JJ had more than minor trouble in the nba. He had a kid and smoked pot around the baby, the mom tried to charge him. He was also at a concert and tried to get back stage and I think escaped from a cop and ran off to get back there, thinking he was more important than he was. I can’t remember the exact facts but some really bad screw ups. Seems like last yr or the yr before he got it back together, but he’s not seeing much time this yr. he may be a dawg on the court but he can’t do it off the court, no control! Really sad!
-
@mayjay Don’t know if you remember but I was in Baton Rouge the Ben Simmons season. All year I kept thinking I hadn’t seen anyone like that since Danny Manning. I don’t blame him for the LSU experience so much because he clearly didn’t want to play in college. But his lack of competitive drive in the heat of the moment was startling. I was fortunate to be in a rare sold old PMAC for a game against OU and senior yrmear Buddy Held. Buddy led a big comeback and in the last 5 minutes Ben didn’t take a shot. Fans were pretty pissed. Ben had an interesting teammate Keith Hornsby who was the son of rockstar Bruce Hornsby who would come to quite a few of the games. He was a decent player. The last interesting tidbit was a guy hollered at me because I was wearing my KU stuff. We started talking and he was the KU grad who made the rules of basketball documentary for ESPN’s series 30 for 30. He was making a documentary about Simmons that aired on showtime. I filled his ear about my opinion about Simmons.
