@BShark The way I took it read it this isn’t permnant. - Sounds like just stepping back a few - not sure. - Either way that’s a blow. - -they have also have lost Isaiah Cottrell for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL
It’s permanent.

Coach Huggins was asked if the door is open for Oscar Tshiebwe to return at any time this season. He immediately says “No.”
-
Crazy turn of events for Hugg. Every year he has drama. Losing two of your 3 bigs sucks
-
Weird time to opt out but okay
-
School?

There’s got to be a better way to deal with African recruits because it seems like there’s usually a lot of drama involved with high level African recruits. 2 of the 3 players that have KU in the NCAA’s cross hairs are Africans.
I don’t know what a good solution could be, but African recruiting seems to be the most dirty of all types of college basketball recruiting.

Yep. And if we are being honest, it’s hard to see Udoka’s recruitment as being clean. He was “a Nike kid going to a Nike school” until all of a sudden it’s KU? Okay sure. At least in that case he was a great kid and there were no issues, injuries aside.
-
@BShark what Nike school was Udoka bound for before we intercepted?
-
Was it Florida?

Florida State. Looked like a lock until it wasn’t. Something happened and all the sudden it was KU/UNC.

FSU. They helped bring him over and let’s just say Hamilton is a strong ass recruiter.
-
@FarmerJayhawk $omething
-
@BShark huh. I don’t know how I missed this at the time. Crimson and Blue glasses I guess. Thanks.

My dumb ass even posted this: “Even KU people think it’s FSU. I wouldn’t worry about it if I were an FSU fan.”
-
Did embiid have an influence on his decision?

Hamilton is also one of Self’s biggest mentors as Self was hired at OSU by Hamilton when Hamilton got the OSU job.

I’m sure Hamilton took that real real well, huh? To @Texas-Hawk-10 's point though, I agree. You better be ready to get downight and almost even right out in the open sleazy if you want an African player. Makes you wonder how much Fitch paid for Olajuwan back in the day?
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 Who was the other African? Diallo?
-

I agree with you. I just don’t know that the answer is with Universities handling these players different. I think there needs to be an earlier intervention.
The dynamics are different; cultural differences, communication/language issues, distance from family, handlers, level of desperation.
We are focusing on African athletes, but I bet some of these problems go broader to other places, too.
It seems like the NCAA… instead of spending a fortune on busting schools like Kansas… they should focus attention, money and resources on a quality program that will address the issues unique to foreign players.
How many of these players have handlers? Answer… 100%… because they are not brought to America by their parents or are in America living with their parents. Their entire well-being starts (and usually ends) with handlers. Guess what handlers want?

That is what everybody (including all of us) wants, money. But, maybe the NCAA and universities should not focus on African athletes at all, but instead on American and or qualified others? I mean, let’s be real, some of these guys - and I’m a huge Doke fan, but that aside - can’t even speak English, let alone be legit school wise.
-
Some of my graduate studies professors didn’t speak English. Yeah… you heard that right. They spoke such broken English and so accented that no one could understand their lectures. Some of us would meet privately afterwards and take our recordings of the lecture and decipher what they said.
-
The other group I’ll throw in are Caribbean players as well, Haiti in particular. That’s starting to be an area that’s producing some talent as well and there’s still a lot displaced people from the earthquake a few years back. Skal Labissiere a few years ago is by far the most high profile example at Kentucky, but I’d also be curious about all of the details of Gethro Muscadin’s recruitment as well.
-
West Virginia getting outplayed by Oklahoma St so far
-
wvu looks like a broken team.
Oklahoma St looks much better then expected
-
Epic comeback from West Virginia. Down 19 early 2nd half. Up 4 with just over 2 to play…

@jayballer67. It was a huge win for Huggy, and I caught your earlier post - days ago, after we beat them up - about how they’ll body up on us the next meeting. Then I thought you were right, but not now - WVU is (this win aside) in trouble. And (does anyone know?) how many tranfers/players quitting has Huggins had the past three years? Maybe I’m wrong, but it seems to be quite a few.

@jayballer67 I know

Look at all those squeaky clean programs involved.
