2021 Transfer Talk/List
-
Ok, so I guess Saturday now becomes an interesting day for Ku Basketball & fans. - -Bishop of Creighton , - So people here does he commit to KU ? or not. - -I think we stand a better then 50/50 more like I think about a 70 % chance. I also feel he could end up at UNC very easily. So what’s your take ?
Then after Saturday IF he does commit to KU , does this put an end to this wild and really crazy year for KU ? - this transferring has been just insane. After this are we through ? ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
I think Bishop ends up elsewhere but I would prefer he end up a Hawk personally.
I don’t think we are done either way with the roster
-
One thing for sure about this whacky off season with this new Transfer rule - - sure has kept things lively and exciting , different for sure , something/new news almost daily.
Don’t you get the sense with like take if we were to land Bishop for example , don’t you think that just says more and more Ochai not returning ? maybe not the same position player but yet at times they would be, at first I thought there is no way Ochai would leave - -now not so much. Every day I have just started thinking - - - he gone yet another player going over sea’s picking up some green , he sure is not NBA ready

ya, I just kind of get a feel UNC
-
Alphonso Plummer released his top 5, no KU.
Illinois, Florida, Georgia, and Texas Tech
Will announce on Saturday

They certainly need bigs

@RockkChalkk because if he comes back Bill will play him, regardless of else we have on the team. He is not a point guard, nor is he a two or a wing - he is a great defender, but that’s not enough. He is a player that really doesn’t have a true position, and that fact is not due to him being a prolific player at every position but because he really doesn’t do a great job at any one of them.

They may need bigs but for sure not at the 5. - -they may want to play him there but he hates the 5 he has been reported, not sure with the new Coach of Davis if that changes things for him or not

what I’m hearing though he can’t shoot a lick, maybe that’s why the staff likes him so much lol

If Garrett wants to come back I think he’s earned that right. If he does, I would like to see him try to be effective on offense without being so ball-dominant. It might be hard to resist Marcus being the primary ball-handler in tight games, though. He was 34.8% from 3 and 80.8% from the line this season (up from 30.2% and 63.5% career), so I think he could play more off the ball, especially if he keeps improving his shooting.
-
@BShark y tho?
At least get a guy who can shoot the ball. Yesufu about the only proven shooter on next season’s team
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich If he wants to come back he should announce now so we aren’t dicking around with some of these guys.
Right now he’s holding us hostage.
-
Garrett will not be back. I’d put him returning at 1% right now.
-
It would be nice if he gave us a definitive answer, yes.

Some chatter out there that Marcus was considering returning due to the recent PG signees but not sure how credible that was, again just chatter.
I don’t expect Marcus stays but it was also in that same chatter that they want a decision one way or the other soon

@BeddieKU23 Bossi pretty much put the nail in the coffin on this over in the Sports Bar today.
-
So did Chasen, basically saying that Marcus coming back would be about the lack of pro options, not who KU has signed to play at guard
-
Don’t put a lot of stock into Bishops shooting % 60 plus for career. - -A lot of those on dunks , 29 % shooter on two’s and 55 % free throw shooter only attempted 8 three’s in his career at Creighton. Just relaying information from the North Carolina Board.
From what I read most there seem to think he is coming to KU , thre was a Couple that said they thought NC had a punchers cnace. I am starting to feel more like NC is where he ends up ,However after seeing those % that’s kind of a down side of him for sure

Yep. And would he be able to help himself and or the team by coming back?
-
Brady Manek to UNC.
-
-
Or maybe not. I’m not sure the source was reliable. Sorry
-
-
Ah, thank you. Hoping this means good things for landing Bishop.
-
Made sense the UNC board had a scouting report of him
Manek was not the same player this yr. Hopefully he gets back to 100%

Clearly had covid. Moreover, this seems like good news RE Bishop.
-
Certainly seems like that favors us with Bishop. However Beard doesn’t have a single big on his roster coming back.
-
@BeddieKU23 Texas people seem to think they aren’t really in it. Hoping they are right.

These pictures were hilarious btw. Thanks for that

Good stuff as always

I’m hearing Sims is leaning on coming back

Wow, of course
-
Bishop recruitment looks like a wild ride based on the recent Bossi post…
-
UNC is out for Bishop, sounds like that was probably the pick but it was first to commit with him and Manek.
-
With that intel I think he picks Beard
-
Not going to lie, part of me wants to get Christian Bishop, but another part of me just wants to play Zach Clemence or other young players next season.
-
Tyon to DePaul
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich I will take Bishop over watching Clemence hang out around the 3pt line next year and do largely nothing.
I think he has a lot more work to do than most people though… From a coordination perspective - very coordinated guy at 6’9.
From an athleticism perspective, I think the has a LONG ways to go and a lot of time to spend with Ramsey.
-
@BeddieKU23 Good take for them honestly. High upside guy that if you can coach up could be your best player. No denying that the tools are there. You just have to be willing to unlock them and you may not ever crack the code.

The problem with this take though is the Christian Bishop is unplayable next to Dave unless you think the Doke/Dave comb was successful in 2019-20. Bishop has zero outside game and has less range than Dave.
The only way you can play Bishop is next to Martin/Lightfoot or backing up Dave and since Bishop supposedly has no interest in playing the 5, backing Dave up is probably not an option.
Christian Bishop is a good player, but he’s a terrible fit on KU’s roster because his skill set doesn’t compliment anyone else’s except maybe Cam Martin.
-
Really hope we get Bishop. Think he could be a Darnell Jackson type guy
-
-
Bishop to Texas.
-
Good for them
-
He could very well start there whereas Bossi said Self told him he would be coming off the bench.
-
All good. Let’s just beat Texas.
