2021 Transfer Talk/List

whoa!
-
They see Umude as mostly a 4 who can play the 3 in a pinch. Might end up as a super sub.
-
I don’t see how you talk that guy into a bench role.
-
If they are thinking he is a 4 (which upon review of his tape he probably is) Jalen’s spot is in trouble. He’s better than Jalen.
-
Bill is dealing right now, mercy.
TyTy gonna end up in the GLeague so I wonder who we pivot to.

Really? Where you seeing this?
-
@BeddieKU23 Nothing official yet.
-
Disappointing but expected tbh. Gave myself a day or two to dream it was possible here but knew it was a pipedream

Devin Askew transferring from Kentucky

Saw it mentioned that he is “Anrio Adams if he played big minutes”
-
My first thought when I saw he entered:

I’m with you. He shot 34.5% from the field and 27.8% from 3. 2.9/2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. Hard pass. He’s from Sacramento so he probably goes back home to a west coast school.
-
@KirkIsMyHinrich Yeah. Played more than Grimes and ended up with worse stats.
-
It is hard to figure out what on that UK roster is garbage and what was just Calipari being in way over his head this season. Not a single player for them appeared to be statistically efficient.
-
I think Umude decides this week and if he does it’ll be KU. Still one open scholarship left, then can work on Tyty for the last spot. Jossell still the other domino.

This would be awesome. So is Bishop basically in wait and see if we have a spot mode?

I think it’s one or the other, yes. Not sure Bishop is willing to jump quite yet.

Thought we have only one right now right? 3 out, 2 in currently.

Out: Silvio, Garrett, Mitch, TGF, Enaruna, Gethro, (6) In: Adams, Clemence, Curry, Pettiford, Martin (5)
1 open, 1 more almost certainly (Jossell)
-
@FarmerJayhawk Right the 3/2 thing was more post season announcements. TGF/Enaruna/Gethro all announced out. Bobby and Martin in.
So yeah one spot right now but like you said Jossell seems likely as it seems clear they want another guard as well.

Yeah I have to write it out every time so I don’t screw up the count lol
-
I think it is time to quit counting Curry. Is there a reason he hasn’t signed an LOI?

Committed after the early period was over. Late period starts in a week or so.
-
So does Bishop have two years of eligibility or did the extra year of eligibility only apply to seniors? I’m confused how that works.
-
@Kcmatt7 the way I think about it is this year basically didn’t exist. So whatever eligibility anyone had entering 20-21 carries over into 21-22. So like Curry has 4 years to play 3, Bishop 3 to play 2, Jalen still has 4(!) to play.
-
@FarmerJayhawk appreciate it

Curry wasn’t necessarily signed to be an immediate impact player at KU. He’s someone that while he has insane athleticism for someone with his build, he’s built like Zion, doesn’t have the quickness to guard P5 players because of his current build. A year to sl down and refine his skills and Curry is someone who could man the 5 spot his last couple of seasons after Dave, Cam, and Mitch are all gone.

Mercy. - -just saw Askew from Kentucky in the transfer. – Now I know they will be fine but right now – - that program is a dumpster fire
-
Askew wasn’t good as a freshman. He needed to be a rotation piece instead of a starter.
-
West Virginia landed Florida International big Dimon Carrigan. Either Culver is leaving or this is depth
-
Maryland’s Darryl Morsell is leaving, good defender/good athlete/can’t shoot. -Self’s kinda guy
-
Kristian Lander staying with Indiana, maybe Woodson can fix that broken shot
-
Hmm what’s goin in Oregon.
First Chandler Lawson transfers, his brother Jonathan asks out of his LOI. Now freshman PG Jalen Terry transferring (former Top 100 kid). From Michigan so look for the midwest to be an option
-
Xavier Johnson down to Baylor, Indiana, St Joes & Houston as a transfer destination.
-
@BeddieKU23 I’m still a bit dumbfounded why we didn’t get involved here.
-
Character issues I think. Real risk for those 4 programs that they are not getting what they think

They had a bag man take another job.
-
I saw that reading their board. They seem pretty upset he’s leaving. Terry was tied to him, now he can get his 2nd payday
-
Howard is much more important than people realize. I’m fine with KT going however.
-
@BShark KT has been here with Bill through it all. Just don’t see him going anywhere.

Yeah I know, he just does not get guys anymore though.
-
@BShark He’s the fall guy. You can’t cut your fall guy without having a backup fall guy. It may be the 2nd most important thing good programs have.
-

ya kind of a bad situation. - -if you remember correctly Askew re-classified , so actually just this Season he should of really been a Senior in High School. - Kind of thrown to the wolves, big time pressure situation. , the the Kentucky fans was just eating his lunch during the Season - - -pouring it on .He just wasn’t ready to be a starter at a Big time P-5 school like that
-
Always a big risk in having guys reclass which is why I am glad we are keeping Cuffe in 22 to keep developing in HS.
-
Yep Askew never looked comfortable either. One thing Calimari always wants is athletic guards and Askew wasn’t that, he struggled shooting as well which just made it worse for him

Anyone wanna take bets that Calimari will soon be leaving Kentucky? I see him abandoning ship and coaching in the NBA very soon.
-
@Marco Someone in the NBA would have to want him… Coaches can’t recruit their way to success there.
Unless he gets offered a job he can go win a championship with I don’t see the NBA move happening for him. I do think that you may see him leave for “personal” or “health” reasons. At which point he will transition into the new Larry Brown.

Looks like we found the main pivot if we miss on TyTy…
The brand name of Kansas is also an intriguing opportunity for Yesufu.
“Being a blueblood, they’re gonna have a target on their back and people look to beat them,” said Yesufu. "Great program, run by a great coach. They’re always gonna get everybody’s best. They’re gonna play the best of the best in college basketball too.
“That would be a great opportunity.”
Yesufu mentioned upcoming virtual visits/ZOOM calls with Wisconsin, Kansas, USC, Georgia, and Arizona State. He has not narrowed down his list and isn’t sure of a decision timetable.
“I’m looking at the environment, the education (major in accounting), the entire coaching staff, the social life,” he said. “Just whatever school gives me the opportunity to be a better player and a better person.”
-
@BShark Would be interested to see how Bill would use Yesufu - since he is sort of a small SG more than a PG.
But the guy can flat out score the ball.
