Wow - -that’s news I can’t remember where he signed for sure, but I think we were in on him at the start a little weren’t we? - -All I knew was I thought he would be a really big pick up. - Probably nothing out of this but we could dream lol

For sure looks like KU isn’t the only Big 12 team active with this transfer thing this off Season. Our old friend down at TCU - - Jamie been quite active.
TCU will have a total of NINE new players , 8 - - from Transfers & a signing.
Jamie pick up 2 from Texas A & m. , Peavy from Texas Tech transferred there , Damion Baugh from Memphis transferred there , & Jakobe Coles from Butler - -A kid from Vanderbilt. - -Then they signed it said one of the top Juco Big men - -Souleymone , Doumbet - -Jamie tryint to get mean lol - a couple of nice additions though fro real

This would be nice, although a lot of people seem to think that Cockburn will follow Ron Coleman and Orlando Antigua to Kentucky.

Kofi Cockburn is better than Dave, but going all out to bring him in also risks destroying team chemistry by alienating one of the leaders of the team.
If Ochai doesn’t come back, a game ready, back up 4 is probably the need unless the staff thinks Zach Clemence is ready to play 10-15 minutes per game out of the gate.

Agree. It would also run the risk of hurting relationships with Team Loaded and Oak Hill, which you don’t want of course.

This is the type of player Self should target if Ochai stays in the draft.

Would be benching one Oak Hill kid for another so they might just not care. Especially if Kofi pulls a Doke and makes a leap

Between the 2 behemoths we could get 40 minutes out of them. They both foul a lot and can’t play a ton of minutes so this would be awesome thing to have. Of course Kofi isn’t coming here with Dave here. Pencil him in at Duke or something

Also if Obanor wants to come you wish Ochai well and move on him. A better replacement for Jalen but asking him to transfer now is an absolute dick move. 7/1 was the deadline to enter the portal for immediate eligibility.

He’s not basing that on anything verifiable. Ochai’s decision is largely going to be influenced by whether or not he gets any assurances of signing a two-way contract with a team after the draft because he isn’t going to be drafted after his underwhelming combine performance.

Agree Ochai is I think Gone. - -whether it be in G league stint or over sea’s I just really feel his KU days are done. - -Bottom line is I don’t really think there is a lot more ceiling for him , I think he hasa almost reached what he is what he has got. - - Pretty good College player - - ( at times ) other times you would even know he was on our roster
You stop and think about it , the doorway to the NBA is pretty narrow. I mean you got 60 players drafted out of how many hopefuls ? - -there is just not a lot of room for error. - -He just not quite good enough to make the roster , like so many others seeking NBA kind of a tweener , pretty good College but not quite Good enough for the NBA. we have seen it before Yet there is still enough various Leagues around and like i said over sea’s there is room for money to be made.
Who know ? - -maybe in a couple of years he MIGHT improve his skills enough where he can give it another shot. Yet he can be making SOME kind of money while working on those things he needs to improve on. - -I just don’t see him coming back. Actually if he doesn’t I think we are going to be just fine with what we got.
Jalen coming back helps a lot -Still think Remy shows, we have those two with what is here - - we are legit

@Oldmanhawk I don’t think that he’ll be able to improve his draft stock any by returning. If he did or does come back, his playing time will probably be decreased.

39% from the field is a bit concerning but hopefully his shooting efficiency would go up with less volume.

Because that’s the only reason for KU to be going after Marcus Carr.

Negative, it’s in case Ochai stays in. Plan would be to play Carr and Remy together a la 2008 with Yesufu playing the role of Sherron, just not as good. Braun and JCL hold down the 3 spot.

But I don’t count out anything now. You’re selling the starting PG role at a top tier university with both money and a NC to offer. Salty Iguana is about to introduce the Marcus Carrgarita. He’s about to get a commercial deal with a local dealership with they argue who is the “Carr expert.”
I genuinely think it will be a bidding war. And he’s a guy you make someone else leave for.

Och decided in late May. It was a pretty genuine change of heart though, wasn’t planning to come back initially which is why they took JCL.
