Charlie Moore has transferred to Miami

Lots of kids trolling KU this offseason
WOW Interesting
-
@Kcmatt7 I probably overstated it, but this permitting of kids to just up and leave 4 months until next season starts to stir is disturbing. I don’t know if this is permanent, or just caused by COVID-19 but if it is, recruiting becomes near impossible.
-
Porter Moser seems to be picking up some decent pieces for his 1st year at Oklahoma - -Get’s transfer from Duke Goldwire - Picks up the Grooves Brothers Tanner & Jacob bot had really decent games against us, off to a good start
-
@wissox let’s give it a year and see how it shakes out…
I don’t think it ruined basketball the last several years where transfer numbers have skyrocketed. If anything it will/has created more parity. As I’ve stated multiple times now - the entire elite 8 had a transfer on the roster getting big minutes this year.
Teams like Baylor, Arkansas, Gonzaga, Houston, and Oregon State had historical seasons and I would say a good chunk of their success is due to transfers…
I also think it is a positive change for players. You get 4 years and now you get to spend them trying to get playing time/finding the level you belong at. Guys who would have to decide between sitting out a year or play another season at some directional school can go play with the big boys where they belong. Guys who are bench players who could start elsewhere can make that move and get PT.
I think it also keeps coaches from being such assholes. There is almost no denying that college coaches can all but get away with murder at practice with a few exceptions. Mike Rice coached college basketball for 6 seasons - and he was literally throwing basketballs at players heads. Now he may be the worst of the worst, but my point is simply that if he was able to do that (or anything close) for six seasons others are getting away with some pretty major abuse.
Instead, you have to treat players with respect and actually coach vs scream. This should really, really, really put an end to the Bob Knight coaching style at most schools. I think of what happened at Cincinnati this year. The entire team left and the school literally had nothing else to do but fire the coach because the team had turned on him.
TLDR - I think it is a good thing for players from multiple standpoints and I think it is going to cause parity across the P5. Should be far from the death of college basketball. It may be SLIGHTLY less enjoyable to watch as a fan because you aren’t going to have near the number of 4-year guys (especially at KU), but it balances out because following the moves happening right now has it’s own entertainment value.
-
@jayballer67 Moser is going to be a pain in our ass.
-
@wissox I don’t like it either
-
Good points.
One thing to add that I see as a negative is how are fans supposed to get to know these kids that are constantly leaving. The 4 year guy seems like it will be a dinosaur here now. 1/2 year rentals, basically a whole new OAD system. No argument for your other points.
-
How about the kid who transfers in for his last year only and gets a senior night speech?
Strange days.
-
For the zillions with no pro prospects, I wonder what the effect will be on the overall bb graduation rate. RPIs are going to be in upheaval, I would think.
-
PG Sahvir Wheeler- Georgia in the portal. Going to attact a lot of attention

Saw where Wheeler was not only in the transfer portal, but also declaring for the NBA draft

Yep, would expect he comes back to school after getting info

@Kcmatt7 @BeddieKU23 If you guys thought the Collins kid would be a reach…
-
@BShark oof. Bill really seems to be doubling down on not needing shooters.
-
@Kcmatt7 Let’s find a guard like Rocket Watts that can’t shoot, but also isn’t as fast and is a turnover machine…
-
@BShark I just have to think Bill is on the hunt for a bench player here… Tell him there is a starting spot open to compete for but bring him off the bench.
Maybe a move off the ball would help him, but yea that turnover number combined with his 3pt % is not a great look. On the flip side he looks like a willing defender and passer.

Like him better then Collins. He gets to the rack at least. Still doesnt fill a need
-
-
At least the Collins thing died off
-
-
@BShark this guy plays HARD
-
@Kcmatt7 yeah. I like this guy! How many years does this dude have left?

Well, it won’t be easy for whoever lands him.
-
@Kcmatt7 with just 2 years left he’s probably looking to land somewhere that’s not as crowded in the backcourt. Sure has some play making skills though
-
@Oldmanhawk the guy from FIU also only has 2 years.
I’m not sure who they’ll get at this point, but they’ll find someone. Right now they are looking for someone who can make plays and get to the rim. At least that is the trend for all of the recent names that have come up.
But if we don’t land one the dominos will start to fall and we may end up with a 5th year guy or something.

Really hoping Bill whiffs all the way through April, Marcus Carr gets told to go back to school, and then Bill opens up the safe.
-
@Kcmatt7 lmao
Carr is so good, we’d certainly be better off with him for a year than TyTy imo. Though I think TyTy is the better pro prospect.
-
KU is trying to get in with Jones
-
Good god.

Yeah, looks crowded.
-
@BShark Not on any big boards I can find either.
-
There is a common thread here, most saying that we need another shooter. I believe in Coach, when has he failed us? Which leads me to believe that Martin is going to play more than some think - the dude can shoot.
-
@FarmerJayhawk any word on others they have contacted? Is Jones 1B behind TyTy?
-
@BShark I’m not privy their board beyond Tyty but I feel pretty confident they won’t take anyone until Tyty decides.
-
@FarmerJayhawk I got that vibe as well. Classic Bill. Just waiting for the whiff (and meltdown by people on the phog and twitter that thought KU had a real shot).

Some of those highlights are like a replica of Graham
-
Da Brodahood lost anotha, Henry Coleman leavin Duke. I’m sure he’ll pick another ACC or SEC team.

Man, he’s gonna be good, Duke just had a ton of 5* all at the same forward position. LOL at whoever was advising some of these kids.
-
Duke has 5 open scholarships rn.
-
Is the king of the brohood thinking of taking off his ?

Explains why they are taking some of the guys that they are. And look I’m not casting stones here, we had Gethro and Jossell on the roster.
-
Brakefield to Ole Miss… Slater all over this one too.
That man does not get near the credit he deserves.

Could have been a magic 8 ball for all we know.
