Other Games 2025-2026

Well I wasn't to sure What I thought ot felt about this court /whether I liked it or not. I know there has been mixed opinions BUT after watching Iowa State and Texas Tech O have to say I don't like it. I saw to many players slipping ,not sure how many times Lipsey slipped -- - --Jefferson , and numerous Teas Tech players slipped. It's just to risky to be playing on this type of court. Your raking to big of chance on losing a star player slipping and really injuring themselves [possibly major. = == = it's just not worth it - -- - - Watch Darryn on this floor tonight = = =watch out hope he isn't injured from this type of court.

It was a bucket list item for Dickie V. I don't begrudge him for that.
It was not exactly a seminal moment for sports broadcasting.
I’ve warmed up to Dickie V and certainly wish him good health. I always got mad because he’d be calling a KU game vs a ranked team and spent half the telecast talking about Coach K and Dook/Cameron. That being said the man loves college basketball.

STL beating Georgia like a rented mule!
-
@kjayhawks2.0 That game, plus the UNC loss helped ease the sting a bit of the Badger game. Listening to Barkley and Kellogg before the game not even talk about St Louis except about Georgia will move on to the 2nd round and beat St louis. Having not seen St louis play this year I wasn't sure what to expect but I knew they had a decent chance to win. And that was a WIN.

MuckFizzou LOST to Miami 80 - 66

B12 won 6 of 8 games. SEC has 8 teams in second round. B10 has 6. Some pretty juicy second round match ups.

It’s weird but there really wasn’t an upset today and Sundays games will only have 1 mid major in Utah state. A lot of people were saying coming in ti this tournament, the NIL may have ruined the chance at a Cinderella. Tomorrow’s games will determine that.
-
@kjayhawks2.0 IMO the NIL has ruined EVERYTHING!

It's definitely made the tournament less fun for me

It used to be you could see midmajors with multiple NBA players. That will likely never happen again. Certainly not as upperclassmen...

Speaking of (speculating) the effects of NIL
PER CBS:
The 2026 NCAA Tournament first round set a record for the most games decided by at least 20 points, with 13 of the 32 games ending in a 20+ point blowout.
According to CBS Sports research, this is the highest number of 20+ point wins in a single first round in NCAA tournament history.
The same first round also marked the second time in tournament history that zero double-digit seeds won a first-round matchup.
Additionally, the Top 4 seeds went perfect in the Round of 64 for the first time since 1985.
Assuming this is true, it is a data point strongly suggesting that in year 2 that talent is consolidating to fewer teams, allowing the strong programs to become even more powerful — Simply creating more disparity.
If that is true, what you should see in the later rounds is more parity and 'heavier' heavyweight fights. That would look like a higher level of play on both sides.. maybe more OTs in the later rounds. Could be more excitement at the higher levels.
You decide whether that's an argument for or against NIL. If you're a fan of the underdogs and parity, it probably looks like the underdogs have been, well, treated like dogs.
It's interesting that only the 1-16 upsets have occurred in the last several years.
No matter what happens, I would hesitate to draw conclusions based on this year -- it's just one (intriguing) data point. Perhaps it's the beginning of a pattern. Only time will tell.

Mizzou has more first round losses since 2011 than any Power 4 school IN THE COUNTRY.
The Tigers are 1-8 in NCAA Tournament games during this timeframe.

This makes no sense. VCU, Texas, T A&M, and High Point were all dbl digit seed winners.
If that statement was only about the games on the 2nd day of Rd 1 (only seed "upsets" were 9s over 8s), it would be true if indeed it never happened before.

Lmao 8 fouls in 10 minutes on TCU
-
@mayjay Good point. Must have been a comment about Day 2..
I pulled this from Google gemini, (which attributed it to CBS). Saw the first item on a CBS site which made me trust it was accurate. The other bullets could be an AI hallucination. I haven't verified them.

Boozer just threw an elbow into David Punch’s face, who is now bleeding profusely. Of course the announcers neglect to say “we will review that for a possibly flagrant” as they would for any other player on any other program.

“That’s just a good, hard play” - Grant Hill

Call. The. Foul. You. Dicks.
