Got a great announcing crew for our game with Kevin Harlan (FIL of former badger Sam Dekker, father of Sams wife Olivia who is a TV personality doing NFL football stuff.). Robbie Hummel is one of the best young announcers in basketball and Stan Van Gundy is really good too.

Harlan is the best in the business, also a KU alum

I don't think the St. John's potential matchup is that bad for KU.
They don't have the big big size that typically bugs KU's bigs.
Zuby and Hopkins are 6-9 and 6-7. Mitchell is 6-8.
If those guys are 6-10+, then i'd be more worried.
I think Flory will be fine -- if somebody highly caffeinates Tiller before tip off!
-
Yeah size wise we match ok defensively. Zuby and Hopkins have a ton of skill though so I think of both in the David Punch mold who was 6'7 and we had little answer for him just last week. Zuby is bigger and as skilled or more. Hopkins is the matchup that we have to worry about since that's a 5th yr guy playing against a very soft freshman and we've seen how poorly Tiller has matched physicality lately.
They don't shoot a ton of 3s but they have 3 making them at the same clip Ala Peterson and White for KU.

Jeesh we better come up with a good game plan for this...
-
@BeddieKU23 I know a good game plan for a 6 footer who throws prayers up in the lane. Have Flory swat those all the way to the Pacific Ocean.

Into Flory B’s keyyyyy
Theres a place called Blockomo
Cal Baptist’s gonna go
To get packed on the ball
Lay down in Blockomooooo

God forbid! When he gets all gyrating and swiveling and anxious-looking, he gets the ball knocked out. I like it when he is deliberate and carefully backs in or drives without being hyper. Protecting the ball is hard if you keep offering it left and right before your move!
-
@Jayhawk_69 don't agree with this team playing better without him. zona was totally due to Allen field house, I mean Melvin shot 6/30, that's not really a winning stat line. We definitely lose at Texas tech without him. This roster once against was managed poorly by bill immediately dog housing some of the players that we're giving millions to and relying on the bedrock of Jamari and elmarko to be our bench, which has aged poorly.
-
Only helps if he's actually in the post area. We seem to be really good at getting our bigs away from the basket with all the switching. Vomit
-
My simple view of KU vs CBU
Number 1: Play good D on the 3 and don't allow someone to go nuts from deep. If our D shuts down the deep shot, they will drive. And that brings up....
Number 2: Flory must be able to block without getting fouls called. Unfortunately, this depends at least partially on the officiating crew.
If Flory draws two early fouls, the game will be a challenge.

@RockChalkinTexas-0 Ha! Is that supposed to make us mad? If the 0.03577% chance of KU v KY in the finals comes to pass, we are definitely going to beat them.

Just looking at how insane it is for St. John’s to be a 5 seed. They won both big east titles, are 16th in Net and 17th in KenPom. If you figure in how hot they are you could make a case for a 3 seed.

Big East is trash this year other than St. John's and UConn. 16th and 17th in NET and KenPom is the last 4 seed, first 5 seed range which is where St. John's got seeded.

Size isn't the issue with St. John's, the reason it's a bad match up for KU is because they play an extremely physical brand of ball similar to Houston, Iowa St., and Arizona and we all saw how poorly KU looked against those teams away from Allen Fieldhouse.

Our team played against more of the best defenses and more of the best offenses than any other team. At this time of year teams are worn out mentally as much as physically and top teams stumbled at the end of the regular season. We've seen what happens when Flory gets offended and he'll get offended against SJU. I'm not going to even try to guess how Tiller will play on Friday and hopefully Sunday. He needs to shoot the three without fear. Chuck it up Bryson, Chuck it up Mari, Chuck it up Tre, Chuck it up Elmarko, Chuck it up DP and Up Chuck Rick Pitino. You know Pitino is an admirer of Self. Says there are no holes in his in-game coaching. We admire Rick for humping a lady in a restaurant and it was consensual by the way. I think Coach Self, Coach Cal and Coach Pitino are not in favored nation status with the NCAA.
-
@Tallturd1 We admire Rick for doing that? Please remove the we part because I sure don't admire him for that disgusting act and resulting abortion.
-
Im ready for Flory to throw Zubys shot into the cheap seats.
-
RE: the bracket above... Vandy beating Florida (having more all-time wins) is not one I would have predicted.

@wissox83 if I remember right, all his staff stood watch for him. 🤮 so classy.
