Gotta keep them focused on the prize. Considering the circumstances I think that was about as good as they could play given the opponent. Arizona was tough as nails
What’s crazy is self was right. They did play bad especially to start the game. They finished strong. But that wasn’t KIs A game. It wasn’t Arizona’s best game either. But it’s good to know this team can beat a great team without a perfect performance.
Forgot how fun it was to actually be a good team!

I'm glad they were able to win without everything going great. Hopefully they reach their ceiling during a certain 6 game stretch but for now, greatness can wait. One of the best wins in the regular season that I've ever watched. That was everything we thought it would be and maybe some more (playing without DP).
Arizona shoots better from the field, from 3, outrebounds us & has more assists and loses. KU made up for it by being +13 on free throws. The last 8-9 minutes KU made the winning plays where I thought the first 30 minutes Arizona was always a step ahead and then the flip switched. Super proud.
It's great to see what this team is becoming. It's crazy that they have just as big a game again in 5 days but this group is legit.

If Twitter don't work for you: Melvin here's he shot 6-25 and Flory tells him 'you need to pass the rock more'.

@BShark YEah, I'd never argue who has the best....whatever. Fans gonna fan and if Duke fans want to brag it's ok too. They do have a great place to play with a very vocal crowd as well. I'm sure playing and winning there is just as tough as coming to Lawrence.
Funny thing is BYU had a bunch of best environment type things going and right after their obnoxious fans started being loud about all this the realities of the Big 12 this year kicked in and they're tanking.

I watched the game with no sound. Just heard Fran get quite upset that Flory traveled and scored a bucket. He was really sounding like a KU hater there on that particular moment. Almost yelling "You can't do that".
-
@wissox83 I actually thought Fran was mostly fine. Considering what we’ve had from him in the past it was actually pretty low key for him.
-
@benshawks08 Fran has been decent for our last two games. I’m honestly wondering if he didn’t get some heat from above. Like I’ve always said ESPN would never call a game in Cameron and insult the the program/coach thru out the game while saying every call was bad that went the home teams way.

Fran was tame but did lose it on the ref over the Flory travel. Was a captain obvious play but somehow missed, guess they thought the ball was hit by someone on his gather. But hey Awaka got away with tackle football and elbows to the face and countless other moments of physical play. They let them play, KU also benefitted by matching the physicality. For once I thought Kissinger and his goons stayed out of an old fashioned brawl

This season, 3 teams have come to Allen Fieldhouse undefeated. (Green Bay, Iowa State, Arizona). Those teams are 0-3 in the ol' barn.

"Best 6-25 game ever."

Player of the Game: Bidunga
MVP: AFHTiller continues to improve and was crucial.
Respect to Tommy Lloyd and Arizona. He took the high road post-game; that team is stacked. -
if you told me before the season that Jamari would put up 10 points against the #1 team in the country, I would've assumed that in season transfers had been green lighted and he did it for tarleton state

Elmarko made a steal, in which the Zona guy got knocked down as he made the steal. I thought it should've been a foul. So we did get a favorable whistle I think, but not egregiously so. Really rough game.
-
Yeah there was 3-4 plays where even with my blinders on KU vision 20/20 I was like ohh that's a foul missed on KU.
As I mentioned earlier, pick any Play where Tobe Awaka was near the ball and you'll find a foul occured. Kid threw an elbow straight into I forget who's face and nothing was called.

Agree... It was very physical.... and I thought there were a few calls that both teams could be upset about... but I guess I'm so used to the calls going against us that this game overall felt like a gift.
The refs allowed a lot of contact and there were lots of no calls that rewarded a guy being aggressive (e.g. Elmarko steal mentioned above). That seemed to play into our favor a bit more than Arizona as we were the aggressor most of the night.
