Hunter Dickinson, :speak-no-evil_monkey:

  • A hypothetical…

    Go with me here…

Lets say Hunter were on an NBA team making any ungodly amount of money. Lets say that team didnt look like they had the record or the roster to compete and the season was near over.

They had young guys with talent on the bench who could likely help in future years.

Would that NBA team play Hunter? Or would they bench him regardless of the amount of money he was making?

We are at that point. Its time to pay Hunter to ride pine. Its what pros do.

  • Oh so desperately should they reverse the minutes between Hunt and Flory. We can’t guard with Hunt on the floor.

-39 with Hunt on the floor last night…

  • sSide note on Dickinson. He vented out about the team and the play they were having now and get this even on himself, Saying he knew they would be catching a lot of heat from Media and fans especially now that they are getting paid

  • Well. Maybe he isnt an ax murderer. I just say that for fun. But seriously, he could try to play defense.

  • @approxinfinity I was hiking through Yellowstone a couple of years ago and some random dude wearing a Michigan sweatshirt says to me " You’re going to like Dickinison". ??? OH - he’s referring to my KU sweatshirt.

Well, dumbass random hiker dude - wherever you are - you can have him back.

  • @nuleafjhawk Hell they don’t want him-- -would you ? lol

  • @nuleafjhawk lolol. not having gone to KU, people coming up to me random places and saying “Rock Chalk” when I started wearing KU swag caught me off guard. I think I fumbled out a couple "Oh. Thank you"s and got some weird looks. hahaha

  • As I said in another thread kick him and Storr off the team should’ve done it a month ago

  • @kjayhawks thats insane

  • @approxinfinity what’s is insane is how they are playing

  • @kjayhawks i mean thats true too. But we cant just kick kids off the team because they are underperforming

  • @approxinfinity that’s only a small portion of what I hear is going on behind closed doors. Those two have completely gave up and it’s very evident. They are team killers and should be kicked to the curb.

  • The summer 2 years ago when Dickenson was recruited to come to KU, I had friends in DC area that told me “Be careful what you wish for.” They knew him well from high school days.

At the time I was all… “Yeah, I’ll take that risk.”

    Now having some second thoughts.

But to be fair, it is not clear where the fault lies. This is a TEAM problem. If it was just one player, and everyone else was great, the problem and solution would be much more evident.

Anyways, it doesn’t seem fair to blame one player for the weird lineups and the ill-preparation… Nor for the roster construction. I’m hesitant to point fingers at individuals. That just seems too superficial given what I’ve observed.

  • @bskeet He’s not a winner and never has been. His stupid between the legs celebration and potential dirty plays….hes not who I’d ever build a team around let alone going with a d2 pg and 6-5 center who can’t do anything but dunk

  • @kuballin10 Maybe. Maybe.

But there are coaches out there who bring in guys who maybe had some history on previous teams (either underachieving or bad behavior in personal life) and get great results out of them without contaminating the team…

Andy Reid has done it. Steve Kerr has done it. I’m sure there are others.

I’m just saying there’s reason to believe that Self could do it with Hunter, especially given that Hunter didn’t have a criminal history like aggravated assault, etc. (cough Arterio Morris cough )

Hunter’s rep was that he played with an edge. Maybe dirty. But that all sounded like a passionate, hard-playing player. I mean, no one liked Grayson Allen, but he helped his team get to the Elite Eight… for an epic matchup with a team that shall not be named by the NCAA.

  • Everyone of our guys currently suck on offense. Hunter on bunnies, free throws and triples. Juan makes inappropriate turnovers and is poor on long set shots but entertains us on his long drives behind the basket and when he comes out on the other side nothing has changed because the other nine players have stopped to watch him and wondering why. Now that we know we are losers why not have more fun. Starting five: Flory, Passmore, Zeke, Diggy and Shak. They play the entire first half. Then bench them for Hunt, KJ, Storr, Rylan and Juando. We get to the final four and beat Missouri as Bill is watching from the hospital. Practices would be a spirited scrum.

  • OK , so we have all seen how some people like to take their shots at KJ , how he is a negative for our offense , Ok great seen it enough times now I think we get it, HOWEVER

i would challenge anybody to name me a player on this dam team that’s plays with more guts-- desire - -hustle- - - grit then KJ. Absolutely KJ is limited offensively- - but the kid is the ONLY ONE that we see that will give that 100 % every time he steps on the floor for KU- - he is about the only one on this group that actually care about KU/the School more then anyone else here.- He plays with passion always love for the game and for KU

He will dive on the floor for loose balls while you see other KU players bending over thinking the ball is going to jump up into their hands There are people who say all he can do is dunk - -last time I checked a flush is still worth two points- - same value as a jump shot -all counts the same. Other then KJ name me someone on this team who shows any kind of emotion after a great play a fast break slam , a follow up slam ,- -diving for a loose ball and getting the steal ? - KJ shows emotion- - juices flowing – these other guys are walking around like a bunch of Zombies 95 % of the time no emotion at all. - Are they alive ?

Sure KJ is limited but at least he tries. I’d give my left nutt to have FIVE KJ’s on this team, somebody who actually cares about wins/losses – our School, anything but themselves - -KJ has more character in his little finger then most these others ( - Helol Storr , Dickinson ) - Mr & MRS NIL- -oh my money- - oh my money ) screw the School -I’d take KJ in a minute the way he plays over these others anyday

  • @SlimShaddy54 i think this is misplaced. At least how i see it. I dont take shots at KJ. I take shots at Bill for playing KJ and Hunter over Bidunga.

  • @bskeet

If it hadn’t been for Grayson I’d been in Tennessee. “Tom Dooley” The Kingston Trio.

  • @bskeet I was one of the people upset to give up both Udeh and Zuby for him. I didn’t love it then and absolutely hate it now

  • TBH I remember a lot people being at least close to neutral about it once the Udeh and Zuby transfers played out. I would have counted myself as in that camp.

Maybe Bill is trying to hide Bidunga cause he is already punting on this season and doesn’t want him to get NBA buzz and be tempted to leave??

  • @approxinfinity Na not displaced I’m just letting know how I feel on KJ. - - All these guys cashing it in-- KJ not cashing in he still cares

  • @kjayhawks me too huge mistake.- - It’s crazy how many people want Hunter GONE

  • I love Flory… but he will not be able to make up the points we lose with Hunter. And even though Hunter is a defensive liability, the math still doesn’t add up.

We see in games several minutes when Hunter is out. Are we a better team when that happens?

Instead of benching him… why don’t we anchor him in the paint? Make him play the entire game, both sides of the ball, in the paint, where he belongs!

  • @MR11 said in Hunter Dickinson, 🙊:

    I’ve wondered that.

Kansas receives way too much hype! The players are over-hyped and leave a year or two early for the NBA.

We were ranked #1 in the country a few months ago! What a joke! That kills us. That makes our players feel way overvalued. That makes us look like failures when we fall from grace, because we never belong in that seat in the first place.

There is no way in hell Bidunga should hop to the league next year. Maybe he can be the next Furphy! lol

  • @drgnslayr well we probably won’t have to worry about being #1 preseason next year lol

  • @StLJhawk Finally!
