SEC Wooing KU?
-
Big Ten if I had my way; it’s just better for KU as a whole. But at the end of the day we just have to get out of the Big 12.

Why do we need to get out of the Big 12?
Sorry, as a guy who runs a msg board that generates zero revenue because i enjoy your company, im just not understanding… This is so we might smite our enemies and win every year?
-
@approxinfinity in the next couple years, conferences are going to start sharing media revenue with student athletes. So there’s going to be a growing divide in what P2 and all other leagues will pay their players and we ought to be on the leading edge of that. Our NIL is good, but not keeping up with leagues with twice our budget good
-
need that revenue can’t afford to be left in the dust with the big 12
-
These universities are killing their own product.
-
@approxinfinity well, we are grateful and not joining another conference! We could pitch in.

I hate this. But its good to have options. SEC probably doesn’t think twice about us without Leipold
Actually no , that’s not it at all. - -I’ve been watching this on different podcasts for sometime now and it all depends on if the SEC goes to 20 teams. - This by far is not a done deal, and will be few years down the road 2 or 3 at least.
If the SEC goes to 20 teams then yes KU for sure is a major player, been talks within the industry all saying ya KU would probably be nu 20 behind North Carolina, Virginia , & Virginia Tech.
If Swankey the SEC commissioner believes that Basketball is going to have a shift in value there is why they look at KU more seriously, but we are on their radar for sure.- -KU and The SEC has had serious talks.
The guy that is the one of multiple people who has broke this is the same guy that broke the news bout the implosion of the Pac 12 and USC & Ucla going to the BIG. usually pretty spot on/accurate
Would be a great move for KU like being said , if you had your choice and had the chance when it was all said and done which would you rather take- -Big twelve and when all monies accounted say possibly sixty maybe sixty five Million payout and uncertainty about your leagues future ? OR-- Closer to Ninety to One Hundred Million nd stability in the Major player in all of this? - It’s a no brainer. - New rivalaries plus renewing the war with Missery

No that’s not it at all , BUT from a business stand point / money stand point and like it or not it’s about the Money is the Major player in this-- -it’s a no brainer much better situation takin the invite. -Again this is far from being a done deal.- - If the SEC expands to 20 teams then hances are KU goes.
-
I can’t wait for the home games against Vanderbilt! Ahh the commodores! Such bitter rivals.
-
Best thing about this if KU does end up in the SEC, getting to beat the shit out of Missouri again every year in basketball!!!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 haha i may do the gofundme thing again at some point if i feel inspired
-
@FarmerJayhawk thanks for ‘splainin
-
Leaving K-State in the dust in a dead end conference would be a massive W

And football with what Leipold is building!
NCAA playoff this year…book it
-
Im looking forward to being a top dog in football in B12 w Oklahoma and Texas gone. Too bad that might be shortlived
-
Word I’ve been hearing that there are School Admin’s pushing for KU to get the invite to the SEC. Schools such as Texas , Texas A& M—& Missouri, all pushing for KU to be number 20.
Talking about how KU has always gotten along with these programs ( Mizzo ) ?- but what is going around.
Talking about Ku /MU game would add value you to the SEC SEC looking for things such as Virgin Ground, that would be N Carol & Clemson - - Big Research Universities , & Big Brand Basketball- -umm Hello – KU.
Another thing being mentioned was people need to understand/realize that Realignment is all about Money. KU was the # 7 revenue producer in the Nation last year and top 25 over a 25 year span. - Also Ku being AAU School being real rivalries in the SEC & B-Ball blue blood
-
@approxinfinity Not sure if you are serious about this, but I’d pitch in something. I ain’t a rich man or something, but keeping this viable means a lot to me.
-
@Jayblaze Copy/Paste
-
Sorry was meant to be a joke, i often feel out of sync with the capitalist end-game we are living in.
I plan to do the crowd source thing but keep putting it off
-
Isn’t the sec just maneuvering to bring in all d1 schools then be the next administration to college sports? What the frick does the sec gain by adding more teams?

Destroying the ACC and Big 12 leaving them and the Big 10 to rule major college athletics.

It’s my understanding the board of regents is the only reason KU isn’t in the big 10 at the moment, little bro didn’t want to get left out . Everything right now is leaning towards 2 super conferences and the rest are gonna be farm systems in a sense. If either the SEC or B10 come calling we have to answer immediately if we still want to be considered elite in athletics. If I’m the B10 I’m calling KU, Louisville, UNC and Clemson before the SEC can.
-
@kjayhawks eh, KBOR hasn’t ever really meddled in conference affiliation. They just want to be informed
-
@approxinfinity Btw thanks for making this site happen !
-
@Bosthawk you too!
-
@FarmerJayhawk I see, just what I had heard on the matter a few years back. Personally I think we fit in the B10 very well. But as I said we better move if we get the chance.
-
While if this happens a few yrs down the road 2-3 years, the more I watch/read on this I can see how/why it would be a likely Scenario.
Podcast today somethings brought out in reasoning why Swanky and SEC would possibly add KU. Bottom line is -KU makes money. The host brought up this : that over the span from 2003-2022 Ku generated 1.9 Billion in revenue, and that with a football program that maybe had what 3 good teams in football ? that figure put them right behind the likes of Nebraska- -Kentucky - -South Carolina - -& Arkansas -and put them in the top 25 over that span in Revenue. – -Swanky & the SEC see’s that and thinking Hummm a School that makes money and we can steal a top brand in Basketball.
What’s the SEC looking for that helps the Conference if they expand ? – they are looking for new market, which KU could give them , puts them closer to Omaha and Baseball/SEC big in Baseball ,- -New Footprint–( KU ) and big Brand.
During this time frame KU made from 2003-2022 KU made more revenue then these Schools: - -Washington - --Michigan Stat - -UCLA – Virginia - --Clemson - --N Carolina – Oregon—& Miami - -pretty impressive list. - -KU ranked 23rd in the Nation during this time frame.- -Easy to see why they could very easily get the invite.
If the SEC does expand and KU does get the invite to join. It would just be a HUGE mistake not to go. --KU would be getting more stability, just not sure even the big 12. Teams going to start getting Poached from the BIG & SEC , so more stability AND a MUCH bigger pay out of revenue to the estimate of around 35/40 Million a year, and that is what it’s all about - -it’s all about the Money these days.
I love the Big twelve sa much as the next guy—Loved the Big Eight, all the way back when we had the Christmas Basketball Tourney in the old Munincipal Auditorium --Dave Robisch and the boys, but bottom line is you got to keep up with the Jone’s or get left in the cold loks like, so it is what it is

You could be right but what do they gain from that? Some form of masturbatory high-five from their own conference?
They’ve been a huge culprit in destroying college basketball by making it a conference race to the bottom. Basketball is only watchable when it’s competitive… and that takes having multiple competitive conferences.
-
This is America and so it’s always about the money.

They want more power which means more money, simple as that. KU needs to do whatever it takes to be part of that party whether it’s the SEC or Big 10.
I’m not saying I enjoy what’s happening with college athletics, but that’s the direction it’s headed.

Again… I think you have it right… but I’d like you to tell me some kind of fantasy scenario so I an escape for a few minutes more! lol
