2024 NFL Offseason - FAs, Trades, Draft
-
Looking good! āļø
-
@dylans you got your wish!
Heās a super speedster, but dang heās dinky. 165 lbs? A bit worried about that.
Hoping the Chiefs can also sign a WR with some size/overthemiddleweight this summer.
-
@rockchalkjayhawk how big is tyreek?

Tyreek is a muscular 195 I think. Who knows, maybe heās fast enough to avoid getting hit!
-
Worthy is not Tyreek. Tyreek was a converted RB. Tyreekās neck is thicker than Worthyās thigh. Iām hopeful he can be more of a DeShawn Jackson type. Worthy was super fast at the underwear Olympics 4.21 forty (set the record). But he also showed his speed in games. Not just a speed merchant he stacks the DBs well to gain leverage and tracks the ball very well. Time will tell, but usually when Veach trades up it goes well (this trade up was to get ahead of the 49ers who had reportedly targeted Worthy).
-
@dylans I think he has better hands than Hill at this moment. I think this helps open up the middle for Rice and Kelce. Baring a huge suspension for Rice.
-
Iām really liking the first two picks and I think those are definitely gaps that need to be filled. I hope if Jones (OT Texas) or if Booker is still on the board they pick one of them up

I havenāt really watched him play much, but from what Iāve been reading drops are an issue.
-
The BYU kid apparently is all the rage!
May need a year to learn, but has the body and physical tool kit.

His sophomore year he had 7 drops, but he also had a broken hand. The other two years it didnāt seem to be an issue. Iād hate to watch another player drop balls like the WRs did last year!

Ahh, great. Fingers crossed. And heck no, we donāt need any more pass droppers! For sure looking forward to that blazing speed. The problem about not knowing much about these players is that I wanna know more about these guys, so I read the scouting reports. Those can be negative. Iām sure even superstars have dinks on those reports. But given his slight frame, which is a real thing, Iāll assume weāll have to use lots of motion to get him free off the line at first. Thatāll make him even more dangerous!
-
@dylans 7 drops would be a vast improvement from a WR core that lead the league in dropped passes. I think he only had 3 drops this past season, you are going to a few drops here and there unless you are Larry Fitzgerald.
-
@rockchalkjayhawk If DBs jam him and missā¦ TD. But it could also look a lot like Tyreek vs Sneed in the SB if he doesnāt add some muscle.
-
Iām anxious to see the rugby player.
-
The best draft guide I have ever seen is Dane Bruglerās āThe Beastā on The Athletic. Hundreds of pages evaluating dozens of players with lots more background than most.
Anyway, by his rankings, KC has managed to pick up 4 of the top 89 draft prospects in this yearās draft. Including his no. 1 safety. In Veach we trust.
Worth the subscription even by itself, acc to many of us!

How would you grade Chiefs draft picks.
I give it B+
-
@AsadZ A fair grade, but I would go up to A- because they signed about 4 pretty strong guys as UFAs who were not drafted but were considered Day 3 prospects. Essentially the same as having 4 extra 6th or 7th rd picks.
-
@AsadZ Iām excited to see Worthy in that offense. Kingsley was projected to the Chiefs in the first round in several mock drafts. Wiley learning from Kelce is very intriguing. Hicks was a second round talent and a potential replacement for Reid in a year. Low round picks are always a flier, but the cb has excellent traits and Veach has a good eye for that position. The center can play the entire iol. The G prospect is just a guard, but ol depth is weak so heās likely to make the team as well. It should be 6 of the 7 make the roster.
I could talk myself into an A or a C. In Veach I trust, itās an A!

List of UFA signings:
Chiefs seem to be a magnet for guys looking to land a spot.
-
It will be curious to see how: Worthy, Mcconkey. Leggette and Colemanā¦.who turns out the best.
Similar to when we took mecole and dk metcalf was available or when we got skyy moore and Pickens was right there
Hopefully we got more of a desean Jackson type in worthy
-
@kuballin10 whoās your horse? Worthy vs the field? Iād take the field too if I lived misery, but thatās just an odds play.
Iām betting on Worthy to ball out as he has the skill set to do well in this offense. Mecole Hardman had 800 yard recording in college and was a converted DB. Worthy had 2500 and was a true #1 receiver. Not a good comp.
Whiffing on DK was due to Hill drama and needing a speedy replacement - panic move and a bad one. No need to panic this go around.
-
Man thatās tough as Veach hasnāt gotten a wr right besides Rice being his first (whiffs on plenty).
I lean toward Worthy and think he will actually be a stud. As you said way different than converted db mecole.
Yeah Hill forced veachās hand and you donāt bat 1000.0 in the draft so I get it.
Overall gotta trust the staff as theyāve done great these past 3-4 drafts and I think Veach has grown a ton in player scouting. Heās drafting smart athletes
I actually think Hill will be our next Tony G. Dude is big, runs/moves like Kelce and being a former qb is smart when it comes to diagnosing coverages. He wonāt be Kelce as hardly anyone can be I think he will be a stud.
Overall this draft class should be an impact from day 1
Three peat time baby!
-
@kuballin10 Yeah Iām excited about Wiley too. Boom or bust I suppose, but a 4th rounder is not much of a gamble.
-
Uh oh. Rice under investigation for a nightclub assault. They say he walloped a photographer.
-
@rockchalkjayhawk Damn, something I did not want to hear and see.

Nope. Dude needs to realize heās got it good. Let your crew do the dirty work!
The suspension is getting longerā¦
-
Allegedly
-
Meanwhile, Kelce is hosting game shows, joining the cast of American Horror Story and in general keeping out of trouble by elevating his celebrity.
-
@bskeet AHS is pretty gross. Iāve watched it.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 yeah. Iām not the target audience. My daughter (now 22) liked it.
-
@bskeet I would not tell my friends that I go to church with that Iāve watched it. Hope Travis doesnāt play to gross of a part.
-
Interesting comments by Harrison B
-
@AsadZ āInterestingā is the most euphemistic word in the English language. Think about that blind date your friend tried to set you up withā¦āIs she cute?ā āOh, wow, she is SO interesting!ā
-
Oh boy. Saw that. The Chiefs are quickly becoming a PR nightmare.
-
And now I just read that Rashee Rice had a gun incident in college! He and some buds shot up an empty car belonging to a basketball player. They are making it sound like all pro teams knew of this before the draft.
Man. Red flags.
-
I see a suspension coming
-
I hope itās just that @AsadZ . Would hate to lose a player as exciting as him.

I was there and I was shocked by what he was saying in real time.
But people have lost their minds over this. Heās certainly entitled to his opinions and religion. Personally, I just found it to be a really bad graduation speech and something meant for a different event.
The BC grads I know felt the same.
-
Which would be worseā¦losing Rice or Butker for the season?
-
-
Chiefs play on everyday except Tuesday next season.
- Regular Sunday game. Monday night. The Christmas game on Wednesday. The Black Friday game. And the Saturday game before Christmas.
-
Holy crap. At first glance, that schedule looks brutal!
-
@rockchalkjayhawk The price of winning. At least we get the NFC South slate.
-
I see most experts are ranking the Chiefs SOS in the middle somewhere.
Dang, looks tough to me! I got em losing 4 games if all goes well.
-
Lots of talking heads picking the Ravens to beat the Chiefs in the opener. Mahomes is 4-1 against Lamar with the one being due to a perfectly thrown ball being dropped by Toney (smdh) and intercepted. Not sure Iād put any money on Baltimore.
-
Rookie, Worthyās car was stolen this week. What else?#%&$
-
@Kcmatt7 good take, I think Harrison was a bit over the top on this for sure. But man X and Facebook are blowing up with petitions to get him cut and such. This is America and he is free to support any religion he chooses. Iām shocked by how much more outrage there is on this than Deshaun Watson signing a record breaking deal after sexually assaulting 24 women.

The outrage about this is a drop in the bucket comparatively. That one played out over a couple years so you might not remember how hot it got.
-
@kjayhawks ehhhh. I think there was plenty of outrage. Some of that was suppressed because he was also suspended for a full season. So he was out of the spotlight so to speak.
There also wasnāt an āopposing sideā to the Watson stuff. Like everyone knew it was bad. So there wasnāt debate.
