No matter what team you pull for

Old Evil Empire, meet the New Evil Empire. Yanks didn’t put up much of a fight.
Even with a KU guy managing the Phillies, I can’t see them winning the WS. Houston pitching too good, especially the bullpen.
Best case scenario, they might be able to take one or two games and keep the Astros from a clean sweep of the playoffs.
-
Will Judge sign with Bronx bombers and what will it take to keep him

ya I think when it’s all said and done - - he will return to the Yankees- --he sure didn’t help his cause any though when it really counted - His strikeout ration against the Guardians was insane.
Kinda falls under what have you done for me lately ? - Lately means the playoffs when it really counts
It kinda falls in the same scenario as College Basketball a player can carry a team al year and then have a crap tourney when yo really for all the marbles. - - a lot of people look at it like -good player - -not a clutch game time play off player

Hard to get behind cheaters
Every team has a system in place and the Astros haven’t stayed this good because of something 5 years ago. 6 straight LCS appearances and 4 WS appearances happens because of talent and ability.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 They have amazing talent which makes it worse that they felt like they needed to cheat to win a world series.
-
My personal opinion is they’ve only been stealing signs in baseball for 100 years. Here the Yankee fans acted like they given some grave injustice in 2017 conveniently forgetting about all their roided up players they used to win titles and championships. Everyone. steals. signs. in. baseball. To me, it parallels our present situation with the NCAA- everyone calls us “cheats” for doing what everyone else has been doing for a long, long time.

Reports are coming up that Royals have hired Rays bench coach Matt Quatraro as manager
I don’t know much about him and will do some digging on his background
-
Pedro Grifol, Royals bench coach has been hired by White Sox as Manager @wissox
-
@AsadZ It’s a pick that’s being panned by a lot of Sox fans. The common comment is if he’s so good why didn’t the Royals hire him? I obviously hope he’s good but our administration has screwed up so many hires I’ll believe it when I see it.
-
@AsadZ Apparently he’d been on J.J. and Sherman’s radar for a while due to his success in Tampa Bay & Cleveland. Going to wait and see, but early national feedback seems to be positive.
The media reports talk about how well Quatraro did with “small market teams.” Had to chuckle a bit about that…the Tampa-St. Pete market is now ranked Number 13 in the country, ahead of Detroit, Miami, the Twin Cities and St. Louis. (Seems like these national writers think a “small market” is someplace that isn’t New York or L.A.)
-
@nwhawkfan The 13th market actually puts them in the bottom half of the mlb tv markets (17th, by my count) since LA, SF, NY, and Chicago all have multiple teams. There is also a significant dropoff in size from top to middle.
-
@wissox I think Royals did not hire him as they wanted to have a fresh start, someone from outside with a new approach. He was well regarded by the players.
-
Grifol was the only internal candidate that had any chance of being hired by KC in this cycle, but like @AsadZ said, they needed a clean break from the previous regime. I expect we will see new people throughout the development chain for KC, but Grifol will probably do well in Chicago (but hopefully not too well).

Initial impressions have been great so far!

HOUSTON ASTROS 2022 WORLD SERIES CHAMPS!!! HATERS CAN SUCK IT!

@wissox Solid hire by White Sox. Royals did not hire him as they wanted someone from outside for a fresh start. He is very well respected.
-
Well before all the Yankee haters comin flyin at me, THIS IS NOT - -IS NOT trying to throw anything in anybody’s face - -THIS is purely and sincerely acknowledging a great feat a ONCE in a life time accomplishment.- So just appreciate what he did, - - Domingo German threw a perfect game last night - - a perfect game -27 up - -& 27 down. – -only the 4th time in NY History & 24th time in ML History You really got to be on your game to accomplish that. Rizzo made a really good play they highlighted down the line to preserve it - but for the most part just a great pitching performance , and YEs NY stinks this year but doesn’t take away from this
-
Good for him.
In my mind, that perfect game was attained with an *.
* vs 2023 Oakland A’s

doesn’t mattre if it’s pee wee as bad as they are these are still Major league players, these just don’t drop in your lap evey dy. you have to be spot on
-
My idea of a perfect game is free parking, 78⁰ at first pitch, they have $1 hot dogs and drinks and the Royals win.

Ya that would have to be really perfect

Lopez trade to Braves is a head scratcher, not sure if JJ has a clear direction.
-
Verlander to Houston.
-
Barlow and Yarbough gone.
Per reports, JJ investigated trading Salvy but due to complex contract did not pursue.
-
Aaron Judge fastest player to hit 300 hr in his Career — I think they said 132 games faster?- - guys is incredible has a 330 Ba - -43 home runs and 110 rbi’s incredible
-
Judge has a little league distance right field in Yankee Stadium. He’s amazing but there needs to be an asterisk next to his name.
-
@wissox Saw a stat that Bobby Witt Jr. would have 9 (NINE!!!) more homers this year if he played his home games in Yankee stadium.
-

most of his home runs that he haas hit DID NOT come the short right field – he has hit many , many , many 425 ft 457 ft, well over 400 ft - -the man is a stud and yeet people try to detract - -jealously maybe ? because he is not o the team they pull for–he has done things other then hit cheap home runs the man hasa a 330 Ba hits for average- -hits for power --drives in runs -exellent Center fielder - -mercy I don’t know about some people
-
@benshawks08 Yeah I saw that too. Judge would’ve had a grandslam against the Sox the other day if his ball had been hit in NY instead of Sox park.
-
@jayballer67 What does “He’s amazing” mean to you that I wrote?!!
-
If he’s a Yankee, he’s a turd. I’ll be the Judge of that.
-
@wissox “Asterisk” detracts from “amazing.”
No asterisks in baseball.

Let me try again, He’s an amazing player in the short right field of Yankee Stadium.
-
No asterisks in baseball? lol there is a literal asterisk on Barry Bonds record home run ball.
-
@dylans Can’t see the link. ️

when I had my response to you did i say when talking people did I say I was referring to ummm YOU ?-but yet another cheap home run last night not alot of distance just 437 foot in Detroit. - - The guy can bury the ball ANYWHRE no park can hold him-- -even dinky riht field at Yankee Stadium which he had them build just for him roflmfao
-
@wissox Don’t let the facts bother you:
Judge has hit more home runs this season away from NY (25) than at home, (19). https://www.espn.com/mlb/player/splits/_/id/33192/aaron-judge
If you look at his year by year stats available on that site, you can see in his first 3 years (2016-18) he hit more at home than on the road (55 to 29). Starting in 2021, he has hit more on the road every season, 20 more all together (101 to 81).
Overall, in 9 seasons Judge has hit 152 hrs at home, and 149 on the road. He has probably become better overall by not trying to go for that porch.
-
@jayballer67 huh?
I’m just flapping my lips. Nothing against you or anyone else. The only baseball I’ve watched in the last 20 years was whenever the Royals were in the world series.
I wouldn’t know Judge if he knocked on my door selling girl scout cookies.
But I’m still not a Yankees fan.

I’m not a NYY fan either, but after watching the Netflix special about him I am definitely a Yogi Berra fan!

Lmao , you crazy nut. I think you might know himif he came- -he a big boy, and hell noting wrong with you not being a Yankees fan what fun would that be if everyone liked the same team lol it’s fine. I just grew up being one am use to ALL Yankee haters
Thing is that’s crazy is they have lots of money from being in a Big Market. It’s not the players fault NY is a big market right ?mThat results in a lot of Money- - you have a lot of Money what do you do? -you sure the hell don’t sit on i when you in the sporting industry -where does that ge you ? just like Foot blll- -Basketball - -you got the money your going to invest that money to help you win - -so like they say - -Don’t hat e the players - - hate the game. Answer me this people don’t think IF these teams that are small market , they don’t think they wouldn’t do the same dam thing if hey had the money?- - you and I both know they would if you think different then I’ll tell you I’m going to become the Pope tomorrow too lol- --your perfectly fine my friend

Yogi was the Bomb lol
-
@jayballer67 just a very few Yogi-isms…
“Baseball is 90 percent mental. The other half is physical.”
“All pitchers are liars or crybabies.”
“He hits from both sides of the plate. He’s amphibious.”
“You can’t think and hit at the same time.”
“It’s déjà vu all over again.”
-
@mayjay - Yogi’s biography is a great read!
-
On a hot day a woman told Yogi he looked like he was trying to keep cool in the shade. Yogi said “lady you don’t look so hot yourself.”

Congrats White Sox, first team to the offseason! They won’t be playing, but their fate is sealed.
-
@dylans I read an interesting article highlighting why the AL Central is doing so well. Twins and Royals are way over .500 against CWS, although the Guardians are around .500. They get to play against Chicago many more times than other divisions. Which requires this:
“It’s unfair!” the other teams cry. “Darn those Sox!”

White Sox are just really bad - -just sad bad -they could end up over 50 games out- - geez
-
@mayjay I’m thankful for the white Sox for that very reason. Also glad the Royals (or mostly Bobby Witt) were able to take care of business.
