that was pretty perdicted - -saw that one coming - pretty decent , nice length good hops think he has a real shot - Sorry Shaka, lose him and Jericho both

  • Congrats to Jones. He and his circle get paid again. Really intriguing talent for the NBA

  • DJ Steward dook

  • Unsurprising but Cade Cunningham also declared today officially.

WHOA. They might make a big step back now. He was good.

  • @FarmerJayhawk

The young supporting cast might return though. Anderson was becoming a dude

Cunningham helped several of those guys develop by taking the pressure off them this year with his talent. OSU may have taken two steps forward even by having him for one year.

  • @justanotherfan

Agree Cade was big time for them. Really young team that grew up and followed in his lead. Anderson & Boone especially really got good as the season went on

  • Quentin Grimes declared for the draft again today.

  • Pippen Jr testing the waters

  • @justanotherfan question here. Why was this the case w Cade where Trae Young seemed to have the opposite effect on teammates?

  • Cade made the rest of the team better. Blame it on coach too. Trae was only about Trae!

  • @approxinfinity

Trae Young has a specific skillset that doesn’t necessarily help his teammates develop even though he can make them better. Trae Young can stretch the defense in weird ways with his shooting, giving teammates more room to operate than normal. He also is a very talented passer, which, combined with how he bends and twists defenses with his range, makes for some abnormal situations for his teammates on the offensive end. And of course, Trae Young was a below average defender, which meant that his teammates had to manipulate the floor in certain ways on that end to cover for him sometimes.

Cunningham, on the other hand, is a very well rounded player. He’s a good defender. He handles, shoots, rebounds and scores well. He can play on or off the ball. He can play inside or out on both ends. That means that teammates can play their normal role with him, as opposed to having to play the role best suited to play around Young, who was really an on ball player, and couldn’t really play multiple positions because of his size.

So with Young, if you were a player that really needed to have the ball in your hands to develop, well, too bad, because Young needs the ball in his hands and he’s better. Cunningham slides off ball and you keep rolling.

If you’re a guy that needs someone to facilitate for you in order for you to play well, Cunningham takes over on ball and gets you the ball where you need it.

You’re a big that needs interior space to operate. Cunningham can open up the floor. You’re a wing player? Cunningham can slide in at the 4 and play a stretch role, or the high post against a zone. Young couldn’t move into any of those roles because of his size. He was strictly a PG.

Basically, Cunningham could change his game to let his teammates do whatever they did best, so they were able to develop their game. Young couldn’t because he didn’t have the size to move around to different spots and take on different roles on either end of the floor.

  • Having Cade for one year will have an impact beyond one year in terms of the development of the OSU players imo. Very big positive.

  • @justanotherfan nice break down! Thank you.

  • I don’t really know where else to put this, but former Kentucky guard Terrence Clarke was killed in a car crash in Los Angeles today. Clarke had declared for the draft and signed with an agent. Clarke was expected to be a mid 2nd rounder this year.

  • Incredibly tragic, my good friend trained him at Brewster. Terrible news. I read BJ Boston was in the car behind him but not injured.

  • Very tragic news.

  • Man that is just so sad to hear, poor guys life just getting started - tragic. You just never know prayers to family

  • Baylor’s Jared Butler has finally declared for the draft. Butler is projected as a late 1st rounder.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 someone will be getting themselves a steal. Is it just me (some have said that he is a bad coach, I disagree) or does Drew and his staff do a good job at recruiting, developing and keeping talent? Some say, “but they were highly regarded players already.” Really? How many Top 10 or even 20 national recruiting classes has Baylor had? And they just won a national championship.

  • Taz Sherman of West Virginia has pulled out of the draft and will return to school. Could be a 1st/2nd team All Conference player this season

  • @Marco Recruiting services don’t factor transfers into their class rankings otherwise Baylor would be much higher every year. 2 of their starters and 6th man were all transfers so Drew has done a great job on the transfer market over the years.

  • Drew does a good job of taking guys that haven’t fully realized their potential and getting them to that full potential.

Davion Mitchell is a good example of this. He was a 4 star recruit out of high school and went to Auburn, where he promptly played less than 20 minutes a game in a very unspectacular fashion. He left after one season and sat at Baylor for the required year. He starts immediately as a redshirt sophomore playing 30 minutes a game for a top notch team with a very well rounded game. Then this past year he was basically even better as an all around player, and dramatically improved his shooting and playmaking. He basically left Auburn as a 8th or 9th man, then at Baylor he was suddenly a fringe All conference type player, then an All American.

At Auburn, Mitchell was a disappointment. He became everything he had the potential to become at Baylor.

Same goes for Jared Butler. A similar trajectory looks likely for Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua.

I’d argue that you can’t point to a single guy off the last two Baylor teams that didn’t at least meet expectations, and many exceeded them. That’s a truly rare thing.

  • @Texas-Hawk-10 who is staying for Baylor?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 said in NBA Draft Entrants:

Flo Thamba is the only returning starter. Mayer, Flagler, and Tchamwa Tchatchoua are returning contributors. James Akinjo is their biggest prize transferring in from Arizona. Kendall Brown and Langston Love should also see big minutes as freshmen for Baylor.

Baylor is definitely taking a step back next season, but they’re still likely to be a top 10 team.

  • @BShark I read somewhere, maybe here, Wilson may get invited to the G league combine, which could turn into a nba look👀?

  • This could be just a moms wise sense, but I’m seeing Wilson really wrapped up in his gf. I think it could have been some of his downward trend after Christmas. More time with her than team and bb. Just a feeling.

He is definitely very into her, but also very serious about basketball. He just wasn’t there yet for a lot of reasons but he will be better this year.

And yes he will be at that g league selects thing. But, expect him and Ochai to be back. Then it will be Jalen’s last year at KU.

The downward trend with Jalen is the same thing that happens to a lot of players in his situation. He was an unexpected go to player and teams didn’t have scouting reports on him. Once teams had scouting reports on Jalen, it was harder for him to because opponents knee his tendencies and weaknesses.

  • @justanotherfan yep. Wouldn’t take Drew over Self, obviously. But to say that he and his staff don’t do a solid job and that he can’t coach is not even close to being right.

Have to agree with you on this 100% . I think some people don’t give THEM enough credit at times , some don’t wanna see him or look at him as doing a good job no matter what. - -Look at the ship wreck that program was in BEFORE Drew came. - -he has worked through the years and now had a very solid, really good team. - -Gotta give props where props is due

  • Kind of surprised to see not Jalen figured he would be But kind of surprised to see Marcus as one of the 40 to be selected for the G league Elite along with Jalen - - Good for Marcus - -show them wrong prove yourself buddy

  • Was thinking , and I’m far far from being any kind of expert on these things considering the draft. However One would think that if I was a kid and I didn’t get invited to the NBA draft combine OR get invited to the G league elite camp , I think i would have to strongly consider coming back to School for another year to see if I could improve my status for the next year.

The one I’m talking about here is Remy Martin. He wasn’t an invite to either , would make me think the chances of him actually showing up this year would have to be better. I think if he comes has a solid to above solid year then for sure will have to improve his chance. Also with him coming it will for sur put us in a lot better position - - Win - -Win wouldn’t you think for all parties concerned. - But what do I know just my thoughts

  • I’ve haven’t seen a better on ball defender than Marcus. I could see that translating to the NBA. He just needs to be able to hit a wide open shot and force teams to guard him on the other end. Play on a team with a top 5 offensive player; I could see teams trying to scrap together a complimentary roster for cheap taking a long look at Marcus.

  • @approxinfinity

I think Marcus is a great draft and stash in the GLeague second rounder. He’s a potentially elite defender, and if he can put together any sort of offensive game to go with that, he’s a useful rotation player, possibly even a starting caliber player on a playoff team.

But he needs GLeague time to develop his offensive game. He won’t benefit from sitting on an NBA bench because he needs to get up shots. Probably needs to fully rebuild his shooting stroke.

  • @approxinfinity I agree with what you say, on all accounts. That he can handle the ball, no doubt - he just isn’t a PG - and that ball handling ability will help his draft stock, ditto him being a lockdown defender. If he develops the ability to consistently make while not being afraid to fire more from distance? Look out.

  • Marcus shouldn’t get drafted. He needs to sign a free agent deal as a 2 way player so he can end up somewhere that his skills would be a good match.

  • Saw this title on ESPN and had to do a double take…

Sources: Celtics high on Udoka, Ham and Billups

Didn’t know there was a Coach Udoka!

ya I ssaw that too first thought was - - -DOKE lmao

  • Saw this and decided to throw some things/thoughts out : - -Considering Oachi - - Jalen - -& Remy :

First Jalen. After reading Jalen’s performance at the G-League elite camp - -don’t really wow. Started one game - -came of the bench the other , think he scored a total of 10 points , 6 assists , 5-13 overall shooting & like 0-4 from the 3. - -Anyways they mentioned just didn’t stand out enough for an invite to the NBA Combine. - -Having heard this and seeing he didn’t get that invite - - just me - - -makes me feel a lot more liking the chances of Jalen returning for another year.

Next Remy . Remy didn’t get an invite to the NBA camp OR the G league elite camp. - -I would think that should pretty much say it all .Like Matt stated after someone had ask if he had heard anything on Remy he said been pretty quiet nothing. - Which he said with him not getting invited to either the NBA OR the G league camp and how highly Remy talked about playing for KU - -Matt thinks & I also have to think the chances for Remy being here look really really good you would think.

Then Finally Ochai : well there are several things that are included they say as to whether a kid fits the mold for an NBA player . With the medical and measurements and such. So the measurements have been very favorable for Ochai to stay in the draft and help him fit that mold.

Ochai had the 5th longest wingspan among guards - - - - He was 3rd in the Standing reach - - - his hand length was tied for the largest - - - and had the 3rd lowest body fat of ALL the players in the NBA Combine. - ESPN NBA Draft man read so they say is suppose to be as good as they get at predicting where a player gets drafted as anyone Pick Oachi as the 59th pick out of 60 - So THAT might give him something to think about. - -If he goes that low - -might make him think about coming back - - -I think He stays in.

If we get Remy back - -Jalen back - -we are going to be a very tough out ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
