I hate it when basketball officials make the game about themselves by calling way too many fouls. I’ve turned off games when the refs call fouls on every possession and it becomes a FT shooting contest. All refs need to check their egos and realize the game is about the players and the refs’ role should be minimal and not even noticeable after the game. I was just sure the refs were going to call a foul on KU when TT had the ball with 5.9 seconds on the clock. I hate the phrase repeated so often that during the beginning of a game that players need to adjust their game to the way the game is being called by the refs. BS. Let them play; that’s why I’m watching.
I officiated Basketball for many , many years there hardest call to make in Basketball is block/charge - However some of those calls in Tech game the other night was just pathetic - -not even close.
There is a theory about officiating and that is in a really well officiated game you will not even know the referee is there. Like some say a lot of times the referee might get caught up in the moment the atmosphere/heat of the moment and fans I understand that BUT should not happen

So turns out Gonzaga’s pretty good.
-
So is there anyone gonna play with Gonzaga ? - -They just make it look so easy. - I would love to see Baylor and them be able to get after it. - Although honestly I think Gonzaga takes Baylor.
I know this is going to sound crazy , and may sound Bias but I think we have played them just about as well as anybody 12 points, very true it was the 1st game of the year but I would think for fun maybe get another chance. - could be a lot worse - - OR could be closer -they look really good/smooth - -Suggs is crazy good

-
Yes. Also, Louisville is pretty bad.

How they were ranked is beyond me
-
Umm yeah Suggs
-
Refs really favored Iowa to keep the game closer in the 2nd half. Gonzaga honestly should have won by 20ish.
-
Do you all want to be Heels with me today? Would be pretty cool to see UK fall to 1- a lot more than 1
-
I always want Kentucky to lose and I like Roy so, yes.
-
Wow UNC is terrible

Louisville looked like ass today too. Maybe Kentuckkkah rights the ship a bit.
-
Also we might be good defensively? Like maybe? Gonzaga is just insane on offense.
-
UNC right back in the game
-
Walton’s fro is 5*
-
Refs made that game redicilous at the end.

Gonzaga missed 10 free-throws and had 18 turnovers and still scored 100. Ridiculous offensive team.

I find myself rooting for Roy’s team because I absolutely despise Kentucky.

Kentucky about to move to 1-5. I am very much here for it.

Imagine the KU fan base if this happened. Good news is it’s so unlikely as long as Self is the coach. Weak 2020 class hurting Cal.
-
Read a lot of comments from Kentucky fans along the lines of: “We need a new coach.”

Luckily for Kentucky they play in a weak SEC conference, so they’ll probably get some wins. They would have a losing record in the B12, B10, maybe ACC this season.

Yeah. Good to decent teams in the SEC… Tennessee, LSU, Florida, Arkansas and…Missouri? A lot of chaff.
-
Bruceketball down 29 at half(!) to Baylor.
-
Baylor up by 30 on KState at half and KState is shooting 48% from the field. I love today.
-
Baylor still up 30 close to the end
-
I wonder if Kentucky will be better once Brooks comes back. Their issue is they lack a playmaker at guard. Clarke has not looked like a team player. Doesn’t seem like Boston and him can coexist.
Anyway I’m not upset at their record. Its enjoyable
-
Has anybody heard anything on Cuffe ?
-
KSU loses 100-69 (nice)

Boston isn’t as good as he thinks he is and Askew just isn’t blueblood level.

@BeddieKU23 Of course I watched Louisville today play the Badgers. Here’s how bad it was for Louisville. With 9 minutes left Brad Davison made a 3 pointer and got fouled, made the FT. Those 4 points equalled Louisville’s total for the whole game through 11 minutes. Wisconsin had them doubled with 4 minutes left.
Chris Mack is a total jerk so administering a beatdown, even if they were depleted because of covid and injuries was totally satisfying.
It takes a little luster off our Kentucky win, but they’re 1-5 right now. We didn’t see it when we played them, so it’s a little surprising they’re a 1-5 team on the floor.

I’m not going to say unlikely because Self loves scheduling a lot of good teams and if KU gets hit with sanctions, what’s going on with Kentucky this year becomes a more realistic possibility.

Tennessee and Missouri have looked like the two best teams in the SEC this year and I’m bummed we didn’t get to play them this season because it would’ve been a really good and competitive game.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I was figuring if that happens Self would also likely get a show cause but that’s a fair assertion. All bets are off if KU gets totally hammered.
-
Baylor’s women have won back to back games by 93 points each.

guessing a transfer? - - Grad transfer ?- has to be right with Arizona/Kentucky both right ?
-
@jayballer67 yeah, he left Kentucky for Arizona and is now playing much better.

Cool. - - so he would be Grad then huh ?

Man the officiating is so bad this year. Illinois getting totally screwed at Rutgers. Rutgers has a good team. 10-3 foul count right now.
-
Calipari’s rotation this year
Center that averaged 13/9 in the ACC, two top 10 guards, 4* PG, 2 top 30 post recruits off the bench, 5th year SR PG…various other 4*s on the bench.
Self’s rotation this year
Fancy Walk-on, JUCO, unranked wing (best player too), ex MO STATE commit, 3* white boy from OP, Jalen, a PG that can’t shoot, Dave and Bryce.
One coach is 7-1 the other is 1-5.

@BShark I have less respect (already didn’t have a lot) for Calipari after posting about Fletcher on social media.
-
How bad of a team cancer has Fletcher been for Cal to publicly throw him under the bus. Say what you want about Cal, but he’s not someone that has the reputation of throwing his players under the bus unlike some other coaches we know. Because of that history, Fletcher has to have done a bunch of really dumb/bad stuff for Cal to throw him under the bus.

from what I was reading after their last game Fletcher made some kind of statement. - -Haven’t seen what he said or anything but must have been pretty bad , he went on twitter and apologized to the Big Blue Nation saying he was sorry. - -He played two minutes in the game , not sure if he was upset about playing time or what , may have made negative statement about other players or what.
They said he was visably upset towards the end of the game. Cal asked him to step away , not leave or anything although I think in the end he will probably transfer out - I am not sure how long he is to be away from the team , will be interesting to see how it plays out
