Villanova Wildcats - Saturday - 11 am - Fox

@BShark I don’t see us winning another game this season. Maybe ever.

    Time for some Tennis lol

  • @stoptheflop I wish Jeremiah Robinson-Earl had picked KU. I hate seeing us lose in-state talent.

  • Jay has owned Bill. I bet Bill has them fired up. Full amp as jaybate used to say.

  • @Fightsongwriter

I don’t agree. Jay is 4-3 against Self and I bet we’re even after Saturday.

BUT Jay seems to win the most important games against KU.

Uh, yea, I think that would be the case — two rings later.

Mario says sit down coach I got this. So there’s that one big win…against the two losses. Time will tell if we get a chance for payback, but it’s really not that lopsided.

  • I’m glad this last game is meaningful. I think we show up big time.

  • The most frustrating loss was the elite eight game that we probably cruise to title had the out come been different. A couple of questionable calls and poor defensive rebounding were killer at that point. The final four game sucked but they were much better and I was happy to make it that far after we should’ve in 2013, 2014 (with Embiid healthy), 2016 and 2017. I’m over coach Selfs regular season success, I think he’s the best regular season coach in the game. We just need to do something in March IMO.

  • Perry got 2 offensive calls and he was done! Mentally couldn’t recover! 🤮

  • Found out why our guys are always in sleeves and pads and braces and boots and bandages.

The other players in the replies are great! Mitch…

  • @benshawks08 Just reminds me why I always thought Laimbeer should have gone to jail about 6 times!

But it also surprised me to see MJ get manhandled so badly. I am amazed he was able to not get more seriously injured.

NBA in that era led to mixed martial arts in ours.

  • … and the NBA was terrific back then. It was incredible. One of my great enjoyments of life. Not the pu***, hands off, baloney of today. Completely unwatchable. Curry would still be a great player, but not near the weapon. And if MJ played now, with all this touch foul, freedom of movement stuff, no one would even question whether he was greater than Lebron. Magic is still (in my opinion) the greatest all around player of all time.

The teams were greater back then. Look at the lineups that got trotted out on a nightly basis.

I will say, I saw a deal on ESPN this morning on Jarrett Allen. The guy has the 70s 'fro going strong. Those were better days in the NBA. Big 'fros and short shorts.

By the way, KU 75 Nova 67.

  • I’ll admit, music was better in the 70s, 80s and 90s.

And perhaps the rules of the NBA were more entertaining rules for people who enjoy watching a physical game. Which I do prefer.

But I stop at anyone thinking LeBron wouldn’t have absolutely dominated in the exact same way during a more physical era when he’s arguably the most freakish specimen that has ever lived between his height, weight, athleticism and coordination.

  • @Kcmatt7 He’d have to change his attitude. LeBron cried too much across the first 3/4 of his career to be as successful as you imagine in that era. He’s plenty big, but mentally a little weak - he wants everyone to like him and those men didn’t give a flying frak. One of the top 5 players ever would have a big adjustment to make or he’d be pretty average for years.

I disagree with every word of this statement. I’ll just leave it at that.

  • @kjayhawks 100% agree with your assessment. I think Self is hands down the best regular season coach. Period.

Not even top 25 in the post season.

  • @Kcmatt7 I say this respectfully to you - Wilt would have made LeBron cry like a little girl.

  • I really don’t like this game. I do AND I don’t. I like the competition But we just have trouble with these guys.

I think we just have got things going against us. # 1 - - It’s our 1st true road game , and I can tell you from reading their boards this week and listening to their podcast - -they are really looking forward to this game - - # 2 - -we never do play well right before Christmas break, think the guys are just ready to get through the game they want to get home to family the way I look at it would be is ( Hell we have to be here - -we have to play this anyways - so we might as well just go ahead and win the dam thing right ? ) - that’s the way they need to look at it. Just seems our Concentration is just not there before Christmas break # 3 - we just have trouble matching up with these guys - they play 5 out, interesting to see who matches JRE.,

They feel they have a huge advantage on the offensive end - -I laugh at that - -they have mis matches on their offensive end - -BUT we have mis matches on our offensive end.

I think Moss has a big part in this match up tomorrow, they seem to think they can play Doke right out of the game. - they are constantly talking about Doke – McCormack and Desousa - not really giving Oachi much thought - no talk about Moss. - -I think they think we will play 3-2 in the entire game. - -While I know and you know actually we don’t play with 2 big’s a lot. - I think our 4 out will give them trouble also - -they have trouble defending quick guards dribble drive - - that fits Devon , and Marcus perfect - -hoping for the est. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Respectfully, I’ll disagree. I’m not even here to tell you LBJ is the GOAT.

But he absolutely would have been able to play with literally anyone who’s ever played the game.

LeBron is, and this is not debatable imo, a top 5 player of all-time and would have been in any era. He will either finish 1st or 2nd All-time in points. He will finish 3rd All-time in assists. To argue that he isn’t one of the Top 5 players to ever play the game, when doing that, is absolutely absurd.

  • If Dave plays like he did last weekend how do you not play him? He has a good matchup if he can defend and get good position down on the post he might have another big game.

  • @Kcmatt7

I know LeBron is a beast. And undoubtedly one of the greats (despite the crying little girl statement!) - but Wilt was truly a freak. And he wasn’t just a basketball freak - he was a freak at any sport he tried. I heard (and i believe this is true) that Arnold Schwarzenneger left the gym that they both worked out at because Wilt was so much stronger than him.

I know this is not a true measure of greatness - but certainly something to think about:

In his 16 year NBA career, LeBron has had twelve 50 point games. In his 14 year NBA career, Wilt had ONE-HUNDRED & EIGHTEEN 50 point games.

Wilt was not just a scorer, he also led the league many times in rebounds - I think one year he even led in assists! a 7’2" dude leading the league in assists…

Anyway - as you can tell I have a huge man crush on Wilt. The fact that he went to KU doesn’t diminish that in any way for me.

  • Jay has a track record of getting his guys amped against us where they really move their feet.

Should be quite a show. Self will want to feed Doke, Jay will want to double down on Doke. So the focus will be on Doke.

However… I’d like to see this game won by Devon driving the ball and nailing treys and creating havoc that Nova can’t deal with. It’s always been my idea that you beat Jay from the PG position.

I did say he’s one of the top 5 players ever, so what do you hate about that part! Lol

  • @HighEliteMajor Ouch! Stop w/the biting sarcasm.

  • @kjayhawks The loss to VCU was one of the toughest losses, especially as one of my sisters works at VCU.

Then the loss to Arizona in 97.

  • @nuleafjhawk I think people don’t quite understand how much of a freak athlete Wilt was. Freakish strong and freakish fast. It would be like if LeBron were 5-6 inches taller and a lot stronger.

Alumni day for Nova and they are wearing throwback uniforms to honor former players. Feet will be moving.

  • @jhawk7782 2002 and 2003 for me. Will always hate Blake and McNamara.

  • @KirkIsMyHinrich 2003! If we had just made 50 percent of our FTs and we would have won.

  • @Kcmatt7 LeBron would have been a top 5 player in ANY time period playing basketball. They changed rules because of Wilt’s dominance.

  • @KirkIsMyHinrich Michael Lee’s three was in too. Add Warrick to that list!

  • We are completely screwed. No chance.

  • they doing what they can do - these are things you do when you try and get the crowd pumped even more feed the atmosphere.

On their podcast yesterday they were worried about the Students being on their break an not coming - -worrying about KU fans scarfing tickets - but then they said most of their students are right around the area - not a typical scenario of catching that Airline and flying home

  • KU is use to that atmosphere, probably more so than them. Embiid will be there.

  • Ouch! I’m not even gonna watch…

  • @jayballer73 I have a bad feeling too…and your intuitions are often right I must say…but I hope you are wrong this time.

I wanna be wrong so bad - - maybe if we both hex me it will work for us lol

  • Guys, we’ll be fine! We want them to be amped up. If they didn’t respect KU as a power house then they wouldn’t have made it an alumni day, or post a hype video.

If the crowd isn’t amped or the student section isn’t full, then we didn’t go in that place facing their best. I want to play everyone at their best.

    My prediction is 65-60 KU.

  • Villanova 150 KU 90

  • 11am? All bets are off. I hate early games. KU never does as well as they should.

  • Fox should never have been allowed to broadcast 1 minute of college basketball. 12 minutes in and right now I would be ecstatic for a fran, Dakich, Vitale, and bill Walton pregame show.
