2019 Recruiting

  • @FarmerJayhawk

His one year older brother Parker is 6’8ish but I believe Christian is pretty much done growing and he is as tall as he will get; maybe one more inch but no more than that.

  • @JayHawkFanToo have you seen his X-rays?👨⚕

  • @jayballer73 Braun was a take independent from Williamson’s decision.

How and why in the world would I have access to his x-rays?

He has been listed at the same height for the last two season (Jr. and Sr.) so all signs appear to indicate that he has stopped growing. This is just my opinion and by no means a fact and I did not presented it as such either.

  • @JayHawkFanToo He’s starting to get listed at 6’6, up from 6’4 the previous season.

  • For those that care about the rest of the league: KSU could get a commitment from DJ Thorpe. A 3-4* C out of Austin, Texas. A nice player and he would be a great signing for just about any team in the league outside of KU. SMU is the other player for him.

Also, the Big 12 is the first league that has every team with a player committed for 2019 with Braun popping for KU. Meaningless but kinda cool.

  • Ha ha

  • Louisville, Arizona and USC all cruisin. It’s almost like the FBI thing didn’t matter at all. Lol.

  • @BShark So, it appears that, between Braun and Williamson, we took the first one to commit? At that point, Williamson then went to LVille?

I am not so sure. I think I’ve heard the same rumor @FarmerJayhawk was talking about earlier. If it’s true, the staff wanted Braun anyway, as a long term player that probably won’t get minutes next season but can develop. And look for KU to make a big push for Cassius Stanley.

  • when you look at USC’s roster for next yr Stanley would be flat out STUPID to go there if he wants an opportunity to play early.

KU really has a chance to hit that visit out of the park!

  • @BeddieKU23 Agree. They were in the mix for Boogie Ellis too but they have loaded up. I don’t think Ellis is even going to visit USC. Hopefully Oregon can get Ellis.

Let’s hope so my friend. - -Let’s hope so. He is attending late night right? - - there is their chance really sell him right then and there give a 1000% to him would be a nice commit. I’m not so sure about reality , however I’ve heard we might be in better shape then I thought. - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 KU is currently Stanley’s only scheduled OV. I would think he visits Oregon too though.

  • @jayballer73

I’ll lose my lunch if we land him. Was not expecting we had a chance…

  • Was reading some of the comments from Williamson last night after his commitment - -kind of interesting /intriguing . some even I thought was humorous in comparison with KU.

He says he built a better relationship with Coach Mack then any other head Coach recruiting me. ( that means even his dream school’s head coach0 REALLY? He won’t let me fail when it comes to reaching my dream. ( what Coach would ) if you truly have that capability ?

This was REALLY interesting : Louisville fan base was also a deciding factor - - - ALWAYS wanted to play at a basketball school with rich tradition. - -hmmm what the hell is KU ? chopped liver AND fanbase? - get that crap out of here. KU sure the hell no football school. - not yet anyways lol.

Then here comes the stroking - tell the kid EXACTLY what he wants to hear. - - They said I can come in and make an impact right away, hell you could of done that here too. - -Thing is I get the impression he wanted to start , I don’t think that would be happening at KU. but could still make a big impact. that was important to him. - Also wanted to pick a school where he could compete for a National Championship – HUH , guess KU NEVER competes for a National Championship huh - -ya right.

Oh yes of course they do – Significant role as a freshman/ again same here - - - Ahh here we go All ACC rookie team/ Freshman of the year player, well good luck - he is a good player but w shall see got some pretty good competition for that. - interesting comments to say the least. Well like I have said before we were fine before a certain player came here - -we will be fine after if they don’t - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @BeddieKU23 - - me neither , but hey we at least have got him to commit to a visit, that gives us a chance even if it is a slight chance - - it’s a chance , I don’t see a fat lady yet - so gives me some hope lol. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 Simmer my friend, simmer. I like his game but Sam would have maybe played 10 minutes a game next year and possibly struggled to ever start because he is very passive as a player. Which generally is not a trait that finds success under Self. Seems to me like the staff pivoted and quit recruiting him as hard. Just because a kid has strong KU ties doesn’t make them an automatic take. Bossi was mentioning the other day that KU put themselves more or less out of the picture in Sam’s recruitment.

  • Well you don’t get this every day, Braun going on a podcast with Matt Tait to talk about his commitment to KU.

    http://www2.kusports.com/podcasts/ku-sports-hour/2018/sep/18/chrisitan-braun-breaks-down-his-comment-kansas/

    @BeddieKU23 @Kcmatt7 @Crimsonorblue22 @justanotherfan @FarmerJayhawk @KUSTEVE

  • @BShark I’m still going more with the Story that Coach P - - - - - hi s mom off more then KU put themselves out of the picture - will ya that would of put them out of the picture for sure BUT I just found interesting some of these comments which just also pretty much solidifies getting mom all worked up. I don’t think it was as much KU quit recruiting as Mom sayin were done - cause these statements that he makes - just doesn’t add up if something didn’t happen - you don’t go from practically a sure cinch lock to being eliminated in a 24-48 hour period without something going down.

Mack didn’t overwhelm him THAT MUCH with His Coaching sell -Like I said we were fine before he came - were fine with him not - -just interesting that’s all I’m getting at. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • I might try to make it to a BVNW game

  • That was a good listen

I’m probably going to make it up to a couple myself.

  • @jayballer73 Cassius Stanley is better than Williamson, and would start right away at KU at the 2. 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔

  • @jayballer73 It wouldn’t be the first time a recruit and his family had a different analysis than our coaches on their ability. I’d much rather have a kid that, if not getting minutes, is not upset and angry. We probably told Williamson we were looking to recruit higher ranked guys, and they viewed him as a 3 or 4 year guy who would play limited minutes the first two years. And probably Mom and him didn’t want to hear that.

  • I think Stanley is in the bag and it’s a done deal. We are his only visit scheduled right now.

  • OSU got a player

Very solid player, nice to see the league with some strong additions lately.

OH for sure my friend - -no doubt about that - think a world of difference - boy that would be nice fingers crossed. - - LMAO what the hell is up with all the thinking lmao - -you goof. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

WHOAAAAAA, man I wish I had your level of confidence on that - be nice if you were right

  • Interesting take for Oklahoma St getting Avery Anderson the 3rd. They currently don’t have any open scholarships but that always works itself out.

Texas Tech trending for 4 star guard Top 40 Jahmius Ramsey. Playing at Oak Hill this season. Chris Beard parlaying the Evans/Smith/Culver success into recruiting!

  • Told you all KU was more of a player for Stanley than given credit for 😏

  • @FarmerJayhawk Yeah and I gave you crap for it too lol. Seems like it’s KU or Oregon. It would be quite the friggin coup.

  • So is Stanley the assumed reason Williamson didn’t sign?

Yeah, someone will get cut loose, their roster isn’t exactly stacked.

As for Ramsey he would be a huge addition for the overall talent of the league. I thought he wasn’t deciding until late but things change and it’s not like I was following his recruitment that closely since KU isn’t involved.

  • Tigerboard took Braun going to KU very hard. Woof. Even some good old Brandon Rush hate got dredged up.

Missouri wasn’t even in the picture. KSU would have been his destination if KU didn’t offer. OU was probably his third choice. Missouri was maybe…5th?

  • @dylans Basically.

We would’ve definitely taken them both, to replace Grimes and Vick

  • Hmm. The plot thickens.

So whz going on? - - -something new? - - - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer73 KU got the first official visit for Late Night and the staff feels like they have a legit shot.

Oh ok. that’s good I guess, at least we are one of the Five - -I dunno there are times I think it would almost be better to have the last visit. That way we would be the freshest in his mind - -leave that lasting impression. - - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

“I think one thing Coach Self really liked … he told him (Braun) about other players he’s going to get. Christian said, ‘Great, we want to have a good team.’ He’s not worried about the competition, not afraid of competition and I think coach Self likes that,” Fritz added.

    Gotta love Self’s confidence.

Coaches always want the first or last. The first because they get to set the bar for other visits. Self especially loves it because KU consistently puts on the best official visits. And like you said, being last may bias a kid your direction (recency bias).

  • Josiah James to Tennessee WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT.

  • Texas firing Rick Barnes looks so funny now

  • Kcmatt7 said:

He is 100% a better coach than Shaka.

  • Big 12 is getting deeper every day. If Kruger isn’t careful, he will be sitting last in the League in 2019-20.

TCU will be strong. Tech will be solid. WVU will be a headache. Oklahoma State is improving. K-State will still have some solid pieces. Baylor will be okay. Texas is shifting to more Shaka at VCU type style, so they will be a pain. Iowa State will have talent. And of course, Kansas is Kansas.

Oklahoma is the only school in the conference that is trending the wrong way in basketball. Everyone else is getting better, so OU looks like they will be surpassed if recruiting does not pick up.
