    I support all KU sports

It may sound weird, but I see this sign as support. Just a different kind of support than you and I give the program.

  • The website is surprisingly well done lol.

  • But what do they want done? Firing the coach means starting over again, which means probably having a roster of 60 something scholarship players, meaning we start over from where Beaty started at three years ago.

If you fire the AD, you probably end up firing the coach after this season, which resets the clock. KU football isn’t like some other places because KU cannot just recruit locally to rebuild the talent within the program. At Texas, or Miami, or Alabama, or LSU, or Georgia, or USC (and others) the right coaching hire can attract enough talent to turn around a program in a couple of years because they can recruit locally to replace every position. There just isn’t enough talent in a 200 mile radius of Lawrence to turn things around in a couple of years, particularly when you are fighting Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Missouri, K-State, Nebraska, etc. for what there is as far as local talent.

Building the program is a years long process. Beaty has completed phase 1, which was just getting scholarship numbers back. Phase 2 is improving the talent base.

  • @justanotherfan They want Zenger fired. Part of it is over the renovations. But that is kind of a chicken or the egg scenario.

Donors are basically done giving Zenger any money until the football team is playing well. But, said football team is behind the times as far as facilities go and it makes it harder to recruit.

If they don’t win 4 games this season, Zenger and Beaty should be fired. It’s really that simple. I think once they fire these two, we will see Donors pockets open back up to an extent. At least enough that they can finally build the practice facility that is already supposed to be built but hasn’t been. To top it off, the facility’s cost increased by another $9M from the original plans. They still haven’t picked a location for it or even got anything other than Board of Regents approval.

Zenger knows his writing is on the wall unless Beaty can perform a miracle here in 2018.

On another note, we should be able to pay top dollar for a coach soon right? We should be out of all of our former horrible coaching contracts at this point, right?

  • @Crimsonorblue22

I am sure we all do. The question is…is the program going in the right direction? If you look a the website on the sign, it is more abut firing Zenger to get the program on the right track and as you know, I am not fond of Zenger and his horrible TV deal.

One can only hope unless there is a huge buyout in place for Beaty which at this point would not surprise me.

I agree the website is well done but then, there so much material available to fill it… 😞

  • @JayHawkFanToo I just don’t know who would take this job. Even for all the money we will be able to offer. It is a nightmare of a job.

  • @Kcmatt7 Someone who welcomes a challenge! Beaty still needs more time, At least one more season. But there has to be signs of improvement.

  • The stupidity of it is, how will this help Kansas Football? I think there is a right and wrong way to do things, this is wrong and has no net gain. They ain’t gonna fire Beaty or Zenger this late in the year. Best thing we can do is support the team we have and hope for the best next year. This has been an frustrating year from our fans IMO.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I think the combined buyout for Zenger and Beaty is under $5 million so it’s feasible.

Zenger should be the first to go so a new AD can make a football and women’s basketball hire as well because that hasn’t worked out at all either.

  • @Crimsonorblue22 - -me too - this type of pub hurts the program as much as us not winning. - -We don’t need this negative bullshit

  • @kjayhawks

Looks to me that the objective is Zenger not Beaty. If Beaty was to be let go it would have happened at the end of the football season and not now.

The question boils down to…do you want Zenger selecting the next football coach?

There are 2 major sports that generate all the revenue for the athletic department, men’s football and basketball, and the rest are just money losing overhead. The two major women’s sports are basketball and volleyball. The only two major successful programs are men’s basketball and women’s volleyball (albeit money losing) and Zenger had nothing to do with the success of either program. The men’s baseball team is 0-3 so far in conference play and the women’s basketball team finished on a 1-14 losing streak and overall 3-15 in conference play; not good.

I am sure that all of us agree that Beaty’s firing now would not be of any help and he gets one more year to show results or else he is gone. Zenger is a different story. He has alienated a lot of KU fans and his support is apparently low and falling. Frankly, I want anyone but Zenger picking up the next football coach; his hiring record is not good. Getting a new AD now would give him almost a year before decision time on Beaty comes around.

  • @justanotherfan Agree - - emphasize AGAIN - - we keep AGAINING - -this will NEVER get anywhere

  • Dan La Batard appears a dubious judge of incompetence, since he appears to have been able to broadcast all these years without leading a sustained charge against the kind of reputed widespread corruption in recruiting that the FBI is reputedly investigating. If Dan has not been able to lead a sustained charge on this degree of corruption all these years with a mike in his grille almost daily, how can we ordinary Kansas fans take his credibility seriously on this issue of KU football?

In turn, the group that paid for the board appears dubious in their judgement of giving him their approval.

We need to fix KU FOOTBALL and forget Dan La Batard and the the group under his spell.

If the sign board group were serious degenerates, they would have gotten Francis McDormand to kick little boy and girl actors in the genitalia, as she did in character in “Three Signboards in Ebbing Missouri.” I guess we can take some microscopic solace that they so far have not copycatted that part of the movie.

Schneider’s record is improving. I would give him more time.

    2016 6-25 0-18

    2017 8-22 2-16

    2018 12-17 3-15

He lost Washington, returning point guard for the year before the first game this year.

  • @JayHawkFanToo are the 2 major women’s sports B.B. and V.B.? I didn’t know. Track has some great all American gals and looks like softball is doing well. Men’s track is ranked 10th nationally. I didn’t like the women’s B.B. hire, I wanted the hcc coach. Heck I think the retired fb coach from butler would be a great fit on our ku roster, somewhere. Troy Morrell

  • @Crimsonorblue22

This is why I specifically indicated “major” sports. Yes, those other programs do well but the audience or interest for them is extremely limited. Other than baseball, softball and track most people would be hard pressed to know how many men’s and women’s sports KU sponsors or to name the sports themselves. We are all pretty good KU fans in this forum but I will guess that the great majority cannot name a single member of the softball, golf, tennis, rowing, cross country, swimming or soccer teams unless they happen to be friends or related to friends…I know I can’t.

Women’s basketball is still a dumpster fire. KU ended the year 1-15 and only 3 of the losses were by single digits and that’s including a couple of 9 point losses so basically one close loss over the last 2 months. KU was also the only team to lose to Texas Tech this season as well.

Their nonconference schedule was also insanely easy. This is still not a good team and won’t be next year either.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I am pretty sure one of them is named William, and another one is named Susan.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Women have doing pretty well at KU right now. They have the top ranked tennis player in the country last I saw and track team just won the Indoor B12 title last weekend I believe.

  • mayjay said:

Would it surprise you to know that there is a not single player named William or Susan at KU? 4 players with the last name Williams in football but that is about it.

I also found out that 7 of 8 tennis players and 8 of 10 golf players are foreigners; looks like KU outsourced those two sports. Even more interesting, the women’s rowing team has 58 members…that was a big surprise…that is more members than all others sports other than football, 19 more members than men’s basketball (15), Cross country (16) and Golf (8) combined… so I will have to upgrade my viewership estimate for rowing from 100 to 200. 😄

  • @JayHawkFanToo Wouldn’t surprise me at all! My wife always laughs at my failure to be more up to date on name fads.

  • @mayjay there’s an awesome cc and track runner named Sharon. All American!

  • @jaybate-1.0 Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri is a fantastic movie.

  • I don’t know why, but my computer isn’t showing what I’m assuming is a billboard around Lawrence. What’s it say?
