Shareef O'neal commits to UCLA
-
Shaq is probably still a little singed from his loss to KU.
-
Maybe this would matter if KU actually recruited him and wasn’t full in the post next year.
-
@mayjay LOL… The unexplored hinterland. That’s where you usually find the best things. Like Kansas basketball.
-
@jhawk7782 Yeah, the explored hinterlands really have been picked over like a yard sale at noon.
-
If we are talking about just location and I was a stud coming out of high school no doubt I go to UCLA.
-
Not that I wasn’t a stud out of high school or anything…
-
@SkinnyKansasDude if u were a skinny dude, ahhhh just saying… you know?

I guess no one mentioned the streak to him? and the greatness of it?
Man, does this break my heart that this guy is not coming to KU.
We would have had to red shirt him next year and the following year he would have had to play back up minutes.
If his idea of a big time is playing in a juco-sized arena like Pauley, more power to him.
It sure will be fun and edifying for him to hob nob with sex predators in CC, BH and BA at post game parties.
Maybe he can do a one-eyed shoe ad for a petroshoeco, too.
Next.

And we needed him WHY? - - -I think we are set quite nicely without him here - - we will do just fine-- - - BELIEVE THAT.

Thank you , couldn’t of said it any better. - -Just seems like our lil ol buddy who created this thread for some reason thinks this devastates us HOW? will will be able to survive this monster decision? - I had NO ODEA we were even beginning to think about recruiting this kid. – With what we already have - -with what it looks like we have pretty much locked up coming in – hmm really see no reason to be wetting myself cause this kid is going to UCLA.
We were not an option anyways even if we were trying to land him - Kind of surprises me some cause I had heard that before he commited to Arizona Cal was in on him pretty heavy - -but we sure weren’t - -man old skippy way he titles this thread makes it sound like we might as well hang the uni’s up for next season and not compete seeing as how he isn’t coming here roflmao. - - I think I’m really going to enjoy this guy – - only thing is he really doesn’t come around a lot must not that big of set of chones - -kind of a hit and run type of fella.
Well hope he stops back in and chats - -I’ll be RIGHT HERE love to visit - -swap some stories. ---- -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@jayballer73 He won’t be coming back.
-
@BShark Tastes like . . . . chicken.

Shareef is good. It’s ironic seeing the difference in skill Shaq’s son has compared to his father. O’Neal likes to roam the perimeter, has a legitimate 3 point shot and is the prototypical 4 man in today’s game. Alford got himself a heck of a duo in Moses Brown & O’Neal. He’s going to earn his money coaching these kids because both of them have OAD dreams without the OAD game.
-
@BeddieKU23 How is his FT skill? Did he inherit the bad gene?

He didn’t. Not from what I’ve seen of him.
Shareef shoots like a guard. He’s similar to Billy Preston in that regard, although O’Neal will have to work hard with the S&C coach to put on good weight and muscle as he’s a bit light for being a 6’9ish prospect. He will become a good College player if he buys in and puts in the work. There are concerns that won’t happen
-
@BeddieKU23 Hard to imagine a Shaq sprout being too light!

6’9 205 if he’s lucky. Just a 6’10 wingspan so he’s definitely not the physical specimen Shaq was. I think his son has tried hard to differentiate his game from his dad. Can’t blame him.
-
If Shareef inherited his father’s genes, he could bulk up pretty quickly.
That’s Shaq in 1990 in high school, in 1993 as an NBA rookie and in 1998 with the Lakers.
That’s Shareef last summer. He’s basically like Shaq would have been if he had been a perimeter type player. If he gets bigger and stronger like his father did, he could be Lebron type size after a few years in the NBA, and if he maintains his quickness while adding the size (Shaq did for his first several years in the league), Shareef could be a very good NBA player.
Apologies if the pictures mess things up, but its hard to describe without the pictures.

Son of a superstar seeking the LA spotlight, makes sense to me. Were we actually a finalist for Shareef? Speaking of Hollywood & basketball, anyone excited for the Uncle Drew movie? Those commercials always cracked me up.

No we were not a finalist. We showed interest a long time ago and went elsewhere
-
I don’t believe KU recruited him at all.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Correct. Didn’t even offer and we offer everybody.

You mean this one?
or this one?

Ehhh, big deal. KU is stacked anyways. Like Legit stacked. We don’t need him.
I was actually hoping he would go to his dad’s alma mater. LSU Oh well.
