Louisville must forfeit 2013 Title
-
- 2012 final four becoming the first team to forfeit a title in the F4 era.
Remove 2012 & 2013 from memory folks it didn’t happen!
-
Trey Burke says otherwise. Should have been our damn title anyway.
-
@Blown I thought we agreed never to speak of that again lol. Here’s the crazy part, thats just for the escorts. They still have plenty of negative stuff probably coming out from the FBI, will they get a death penalty? How many more seasons will they have a post season ban of more wrong doing is found after they did a self imposed ban in 2016. Louisville is in deep trouble…
-
Shuddering to think how close that 2013 team of ours was to winning it all.
-
@kjayhawks I like to reopen my wounds to keep the edge
-
@wissox They were an Elijah Johnson season long injury away from winning that. Even then, they had that game wrapped up. If Maclemore just dives on the ball and gets a jump ball at the end we have possession up 5. Instead, he tried to bend over and pick it up and lost it. So many things went wrong that last 3 minutes.
-
@Blown That game was actually on a Good Friday and I was at church…thankfully, although my nephew was texting me with updates! That would have been agonizing to watch.
-
@Blown We could write a book about what went wrong in the last few minutes of that game, I hate that the silly turnovers, including a 10second call against one guy is last memory that I have of EJ. I know it’s not right, he was pretty salty for 2 years.
-
@wissox It was the worst game of the Self era. We literally beat ourselves.
-
EJ was a warrior that year battling his knee injury. He was so athletic. He could easily do 360, between the leg dunks when he got here. Unfortunately, he just couldn’t get over injury and find that explosiveness. Don’t forget the 2012 Title Run was in large part due to his clutch shooting.
The only real disappointment that I have with EJ was his intentional shot on McGary early in the game. The Hawks knew Mitch set hard screens and EJ wanted to set a tone early. That kind of crap is unacceptable in my view, although, I know this kind of stuff happens all of the time.
-
Um, how about passing up a wide open layup to instead find a closely-guarded Naadir Tharpe on the perimeter? That was my lasting memory. And his 41 point game against the Clones.
-
So does the title go to Michigan?
-
Wikipedia already has their 2012 Final Four entry updated.
Incidentally, this means UK had an easier route to the final than we did. There will always be no one listed for them as a semi opponent in the official records and we had to beat Ohio State. NO FAIR!
-
@chriz It really wasn’t an open lay up. He was forced to far into the baseline and did not have a good angle on that lay up. He also took 3 steps doing it and that wasn’t called.
There are people out there who believe EJ was in on a fix. I’m not one of them, but there were some very strange plays.
-
I’ve forgiven EJ. He loves KU. I will never understand why he did what he did. It wasn’t 10 secs. Not arguing.
-
I know that many posters are EJ supporters; so my negative memories will fall to much criticism. Wife and I were happy to see Tyshawn, EJ, and Tharpe move on from the program. In our minds that threesome represented a flipside to the characters of Frank and Devonte. Taylor’s final season was very much a turnabout from the tedious wait to watch him mature and apply his magnificent though long dormant and twisted hoops talents. Maybe EJ was bruised by the association and friendship, not strong enough to stay reputable on his own. Tharpe? Jeesh! That said, Frank and Devonte? WOW!

What’s worse buying strippers for your players or buying grades for all your players. Um (UNC)?
-
@DoubleDD If Louisville had hosted parties to which strippers and hookers were available and everyone campus-wide was allowed to c- …uh, participate, the '13 title would still be theirs. UNC did that–everyone could take the bogus classes even if no one but athletes knew about them.
-
Hire strippers to help players with their grades?
-
Gotta admit, I didn’t think UL would be forced to vacate the 2013 title. I thought anything and everything else would happen to them

lt depends on who you are.
-
@Gunman Making prostitution illegal is a tool of cartels.
Can’t let college players have a good time, can we? I’m sure the elite have no problems getting high class escorts, or even unfortunate children trafficked in from poor places.
-
WOOO HOOOO! KU Gets the 2013 title then!!!
-
Now if we can just get UK to vacate the 2012 title… but… dumb as it is, we would not receive the title. I’d settle for an asterisk!
-
UNC would just offer a sex ed class where players are graded by “participation!” lol
