Texas Longhorns - Friday - 8 pm - ESPN2

  • I told you call me crazy, I said I really wasn’t worried for some reason, Bamba went off - -the zone helped there

I said we would the score would be like 85-78 - people said we would be lucky to score close to that. - - -Well Texas defense wasn’t that defense against us - - Case in point - -They have allowing 60 points a game - -we score 92, - -they was only allowing 37.4 % fg pct - -we shoot 45 % - -they had only been measly 3 pt % - -we shoot 49 % from the 3 - it’s ok – huge win nice start.

Bamba is a beast better then I thought offensively - - -But you know what - -our Big boy not bad either pretty proud of him too - – 13 points – -13 rebounds - -pretty dam good actually in a big game - - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Oh question - - where the hell was Cunliffe - -not one second in the game? - -Is he hurt? - - -was he sick? - -didn’t hear. - -Anyone know? - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @JayHawkFanToo

You called it on the bombing away from the outside tonight!

  • @Jayballer54 If the refs had actually called goal tending, and if Coleman had not hit several unintended bankshots, we could’ve won by 20.

  • @Jayballer54 We now have an idea of what coach Self thinks of Sam Cunliffe at the moment. That’s all. “Coach’s decision.”

  • @Jayballer54 talk is cheap. Even from CS’s mouth.

ya heard him on his postgame. - He said Sam didn’t play, that he hadn’t done anything wrong and that people shouldn’t try and read anything into it, but just like the way the flow was going , - -I guess, I feel like there is still going to be times where we are going to need Sam. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @KUSTEVE Yea, the refs really let em play and bang some bodies around tonight without trying to take over the game.

And it was nice to hear Bilas gush over us, so glad Walton was doing the ucla game after and not ours.

The only thing I wish is that we had just one more stud to play with DG, Svi, Doke and Vic. Two more studs (Preston and Sousa for example) and we wouldn’t lose a game. Definitely get some solid minutes from others (and yes I’m a Lightfoot fan), but… dang, just one more real threat and it sure would make things a heckuva lot easier.

And lastly, as it’s been said before, some coaches just have other coaches number. Bill completely owns Smart. That VCU loss in the Elite 8 a few years ago must have really pissed bill off as he hasn’t lost to him since! Oh and loved the technical on the not Smart one too!

  • @HighEliteMajor Considering your oft-expressed opinions of refs in general, and of Bilas, did you have a moment of cognitive dissonance when Bilas bashed Higgins? Which dislike takes precedence here?

  • @mayjay Very nice. So, I do like Bilas as an announcer. Don’t agree with his anti-NCAA stuff, and really don’t like the general anti-CBB diatribes (wanting to always change the game/NBA preference). But even if I didn’t like him as announcer, I would still side heavily – very heavily – with Bilas. Higgins let Shaka talk a few times. But Bilas was exactly right. Refs should never pursue a coach that walks away. Refs should get suspended for that. But as long as the powers that be permit refs to be too large a part of the game, we get that. I will never understand it.

  • @HighEliteMajor If only he had listened to you, we’ve won the game…oh wait…

  • 0_1514612355832_Screenshot_20171229-233817.jpg #hadto lol

  • I was watching the game with friends and all of us though a couple of the Bamba blocks were goal tending; did anyone else saw it the same way?

  • Didn’t realize Higgins was reffing tonight. That surprises me considering how much KU got away with on defense tonight. It’s usually the other way around with him, but I’m not surprised though that he made himself the center of attention since that’s his typical MO for games.

  • @HighEliteMajor “Don’t agree with his anti-NCAA stuff”

    Can you elaborate on that?

  • SHAKA SMART IS A LIL’ BEEOTCH. He was in the damn bonus when he threw his little bitch fit about fouls and to make him look more like a stupid wuss, he drew a technical for his idiotic tantrum. Jay Bilas was wrong about John Higgins. Higgins actually gave Shaka Stupid, a not so Smart “T”. What the hell more did he want? He’s damn lucky Higgins didn’t T him a second. Those stupid STEER Fans are the most obnoxious people I know.

  • @JayHawkFanToo Yes he had 8 blocks, 3 of which were goal tends. That’s the plus and minus of being able to rewind live TV in this day and age. The one they missed on Svi’s layup was ridiculous and I thought it could’ve been a huge play if they’d of hit the 3 on the other end with us up 6 at that point.

  • @kjayhawks Yes, GOAL TENDING. They didn’t call it once. Why didn’t the Beeotch Steer pitch a bitch session about that little gem. They mauled us ALL damn night.

  • @kjayhawks

I agree. The one on Svi was just bad but Bilas, who sounded like a high school girl with a crush on Bamba, would not say a thing. Surprised Bills was doing a Big 12 game.

  • Just got home = 12:30 AM! Great win. Told HCBS it was great that they went to the zone and he said it was the “guys” who made it work to get us back to up 10. I’ll chime in tomorrow when I’ve gotten to watch the replay and post some pictures. I was in a row of ALL KU FANS and it was so much fun. Haven’t read anything here but damn the refs missed at least 3 goal tends. And the T on Smartass was glorious. The fans started booing and I told the ones around me that the UT fans are almost as bad as ISU. Dog tired but we got the W.

  • @RockChalkinTexas awesome! Guys were money today. Looking forward to hearing more of your impressions from the game.

  • @RockChalkinTexas so glad u were there! Can’t wait for your thoughts!

  • @truehawk93 Having attended college in Texas, it was astounding how little fans knew about the game. Top that with the annoying pro TX bs, it was not the best 4 years of my life. The stereotypes were largely true. P.S I have many wonderful friends who are/were Texans. But even some of them could be insufferable about how big the Capitol was 😏.

Bamba actually isn’t that good offensively at all. KU just had nothing inside for him especially with Doke playing hurt. Self was smart to have the team play a lot of zone.

That one sure sucks though. I’d give Shaka at least 3 conference wins for that EE win. The title was right there for that team…ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • @HighEliteMajor I like Bilas too, but like all commentators he gets into repeating clever phrases that should have only been said once not repeated ad nauseam (like a “funny once but not twice” for anyone who ever read The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress.) Last night it was the bad-shot-as-turnover comment. Fran does it more than anyone–Hey look, everyone! I was really clever!

I actually wondered why no one ever figured out, or at least announced, what caused the problem leading to the T. It looked to me like a timeout was granted to Tex, but Shaka looked mystified as if he never called it. If so, Higgins might have heard someone from the bench area and thought it was Shaka. And if that happened, he was even more at fault.

  • The block on Svi could only have been not goaltending if the trajectory of the shot would have missed the basket by at least two feet!

  • @Fightsongwriter I lived in DFW for 12 yrs and for the most part, loved living there. It’s a great state and Austin is a great city too, but those fans are absolute idiots. I’ve never seen such ignorant and obnoxious fans, next to the OU football faithless.

You watch, if OU loses to Georgia, not one OU fan will meet them at Will Rogers Airport. I work with Pokes and Thieves, yes, Sooners are a bunch of land thieves. Few people understand the true history of the Land Run. This is why they added Boomer, this way they don’t seem like a bunch of thieves. I bet most of the land in Oklahoma is owned by a bunch of people who cheated, and it cracks me up to think how much pride they have in stealing land.

  • @truehawk93 Soooooo, not that much different from most of the rest of the country, then?

  • mayjay said:

    Nicely put

  • I didn’t know Bamba could make the 3. He’s years away from being a finished product but some NBA team could be sitting on a future all-star if he develops the skill on the offensive side

  • @mayjay Now you may have point there if you want to talk about social issues and crime, haha. However, you would think the folks, planners, or founders of Oklahoma University would’ve thought twice about the “Sooners.” I would’ve went with “Boomers.” At least they were real honest people that came by their land according the rules of the Land Run.

I’d be glad to discuss Oklahoma history with you. I’m a transplant from Kansas to Oklahoma, but when you live and work with them, and you see the word “SOONERS” everywhere you go, I can’t stop but think of a bunch of land thieves, sorry if that struck a chord, or maybe you have Oklahoma ties. At least my comment is factual. Maybe after the OU/KU football game, I got my hackles raised a bit.

Well, he really can’t. Not reaaaaally. So of course he hit one against us.

  • @truehawk93 I wasn’t disagreeing at all. I was just trying to make an ironic comment about those thieves within the larger context of centuries of invasion and occupation around the entire world! I have little exposure to Oklahomans in general, except in reading about the Dust Bowl and how short-sighted political, agricultural, and economic decision-making helped them destroy their environment and created the “Okie” exodus.

  • Bamba would be a tough guy to officiate. He is so tall and long, he gets to balls that are higher than what most can get to. Its tough to really tell if he is getting them at their peak, or just as they come down.

It would be a nightmare at real speed, considering that even in slow motion, it’s hard to tell. I think one of the blocks may have been a goal tend, but the others looked clean to me.
