Don’t know why people hate on Lunardi - he has been pretty accurate over the years and besides, who 100% predicts exactly how the committee will seed teams and where they will play? I’m not aware of anyone. Just enjoy the process and the games.

He is not that good. Most any brackets predictor can pick all the teams since the formulas are known and the NCAA conducts mock sessions for reporters ahead of time. The trick is predicting the seeds and corresponding locations and, as I mentioned, Lunardi is middle of the pack.
Google the brackets project and you will see the predictions by the various sites going back many years and you can draw your own conclussions.

I think Lunardi has done this what 3-4 years in a row putting Wichita St on KU’s side. He does it for clicks and the mail he’ll get over it. It’s nothing more then engineered ESPN drama. They know the situation well.
Wichita has to win its league championship to be safely in. They have zero non-conference wins that give them an edge over any Power 5 bubble team. They split the season series with Illinois St which is their biggest competition. If they drop a game between now and Selection Sunday its going to be a bad loss for their resume

@JayHawkFanToo I for sure understand what you mean about Fran. I mean he was ALL up in Texas butt last night, are we sure he isn’t a TEX alum? lol He gets old really really fast. I mean to a degree he makes some valid points, Ya Tex IS young and I actually see where they are getting better, & Oklahoma is the same way. Both are going to be a lot better next year, But for Tex I think Allen is gone, seems to be the talk, Dam wish we could of got him. - - -Man sis you see his facial over Kamonte OMG umm did he ever take him to school wow., Brought flash backs of Chocolate Thunder on that one lol. Sorry, did not see your post last night. I am not sure if it is my iPad updating or what but sometimes when I go over a thread I see posts that were not there before, oh well…
Yes, that was an obvious foul but a Tech really gave the game away with 2 or 3 really bad turnovers such as missing the layup when they had a 3 on 1 break or getting the ball stolen on the inbound right under the basket. It does show how much parity the conference has and how little margin of error there is.
Interesting, ISU, Texas and WVU play each other one more time and they might eliminate each other any way. Hard to believe but ISU is currently in second place and Baylor in fourth place (by tie breaker).

At this time I just don’t see Allen staying at Texas, not much more he can learn from Smart and I don’t see Texas contending next year with or without him.
BTW, Allen sure reminds me of Jimi Hendrix…

Yeah I can’t see Allen staying when he’s projected to be in the middle 1st round/maybe late lottery discussion. Andrew Jones has shot up boards as well of late and could also depart. Shaka will be in full rebuild at that point if that happens.

That would be brutal for them and it would make me less sad about KU not getting in on Jones sooner. If he is oad, then meh.

Oh I definitely think it’s possible for him to go pro. I was just bummed when KU wasn’t involved early enough because I thought he would be a 2-3 year player (a very good one at that).

Had the same thoughts actually. I know we got involved and then he just ended it and went with Texas. I thought he was going to be a good one, haven’t seen anything to say otherwise. He was great against KU the first time.

@JayHawkFanToo Well now I don’t feel so bad losing to ISU i still would have preferred not to lose at home but at least they aren’t a bottom feeder. Tech definitely pissed that game away last night , they couldn’t buy a bucket to save their lives with multiple chances to.

@jayballer54 Except for Wisconsin (I think), the others have all put KU out of the tournament. At least if there is a top 8 like this in our bracket, we’d only have to play 3 of them at most.

I believe the #1 overall seed would be paired with the 4th #1 seed (4th overall team). 2 vs 3 would be the other.
So if KU is the #1 overall seed as they are projecting right now, KU would theoretically play Gonzaga the overall 4th #1 seed

Interesting that ESPN and most sites have the B12 down to 5 teams in. TCU and KSU both in next four out. They both are 17-12 and 6-10 in the big 12,TCU has a much better non conference SOS. They play Wednesday in Fort Worth, likely a elimination game from the dance baring a B12 tournament win.

@kjayhawks I think that’s about right. T Tech, TCU, and Silo Tech will battle it out for the 6th, imo. If one of them can win their next two games, and their first rd game in the conference tourney, they should probably slip in.

A long way to go, but a decent chance that our path is something like… facing a big 10 team such as Michigan or MSU as an 8 or 9, then maybe another (Wisconsin or Purdue_ as a 4 or 5, then likely one of the Pac 10 teams as a 2.I say this because we could likely have a Big 12 team in the 8 or 9 and 4 or 5 (like WVU) which pushes those other teams toward us.

I would have nightmares about Kevaughn Allen leading up to that game.
Oh and MSU doesn’t belong anywhere near the tournament this year. Same for KSU. Difference between these two is MSU could play their way in with Wiscy and MD coming up for them. KSU is just dooooooooooooone. A shame though, given that their players were just as good as KUs.

Against Nebraska? That’s like beating UMKC. Already 11 losses. I guess the bubble is pretty soft this year but if they close out 1-2 that’s a really tough sell unless they have a good run in the B1G tourney.

@Hawk8086 B10 teams wouldn’t be in the 8/9 and 4/5 of a region because conference teams are supposed to he on opposite sides of a region unless there are 9+ teams from a league in the field which isn’t happening anytime soon.

@BShark Clemson, who was 4-11 in ACC play entering today was still a bubble team, so yes, the bubble is weak this year. This may very well be the weakest bubble ever where there are several at large teams that finish with losing conference records.

So a couple things after the weekend. Right now it seems one of the Top 3 Pac-12 teams is going to end up in the Midwest as a #3 seed. The Pac-12 tourney will be important in narrowing down which school but its either Zona/UCLA at this moment.
Really not understanding how Oregon is a #2 seed at this moment based on resumes. UCLA’s resume is way better overall, road wins over Kentucky & Arizona have to count for something. Oregon also has a bad loss (Georgetown) that neither Zona/UCLA has. Oregon is a really good team don’t get me wrong but something isn’t right with the seeding right now.
If North Carolina stays on the #1 line, Lousiville is the most likely candidate to be the #2 in the Midwest.
Duke seems to be an inevitable 4-5 matchup with the regional in Greenville. If we want to avoid them again we really should start rooting for them to get back on the 3 seed line
