I would be seriously pissed off if WSU was our 9 seed. In TULSA. You don’t reward a 9 seed with playing closer to home than the 1 seed.
-
I would be seriously pissed off if we had to play Butler or Belmont. We don’t fare well against " B " teams in the tournament.
-
LOL was just going to post this link myself. Here’s the screenshot.

@chriz I’m all for it.

I want to embarrass the shockers!!!

Given that we haven’t embarrassed anyone this year, my guess is we’d have a hard time embarrassing WSU. Would be nice, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
-
@BShark Not to mention that they are probably the best of all Lundard’s 8-9 seeds…
-
Lunardi is the only person I’ve seen that has WSU seeded that high. Most have them as a double digit seed and definitely not in Tulsa.
-
Its about matchups. WSU has 3 legit bigs (6’8 Shaq Morris, 6’9 juco xsfer, 7ft Nurger), and 2 of them have tasted a W over KU before. Then its guardplay, and they do not have Baker and VanVleet (let’s leave it at that…). They have good small forwards in McDuffie and Brown.
But KU will be a real test for them, as well, because KU is after all, a top5 team. And that ranking was earned the hard way. And KU has great guards and small forwards, 1 of whom is a lotto pick and playing like it.
-
You know they are going to do what ever it takes to try and match us up again - -anytime they can… I checked out both Brackets ESPN & CBS. - - -ESPN has then as a # 8 in our region - - -CBS doesn’t even have them in the tourney. - - He has them as the one of the first four out. - - -He says WSU only has 2 wins over top 100 opponents - so in reality they are going to have to win the Missouri Valley tourney in his train of thought:
Other Big 12 schools how they stacked up in both:ESPN: East - -TCU/Seton Hall # 12 play in, winner vs Cinn, Iowa St # 7 vs USC. - - - - top 4 EAST, Villa , Louis , Kent , Pur. - - - - SOUTH- - Baylor # 2 vs Furman- - - -top 4 SOUTH , N Carol , Bay , Fla , UCLA- - - - WEST- - WV # 4 vs Princeton- - KSU # 11 vs Creigh- - - - top 4 WEST Gonz , Org , Fla St , WV- - MIDWEST- - KU # 1 vs NC Central- - Okla St # 7 vs Virg Tech- - - - top 4 MIDWEST Ku, Ariz , Duke , Butler
Bracket from CBS- - EAST- - WV # 5 vs Ill St, - - Okla St # 9 vs South Carol- - - - top 4 EAST Villa, Ariz , Fla St , Cinn , - - - - SOUTH- - Bay # 1 vs N Dakota- - KSU # 10 vs Northwestern- - - - top 4 SOUTH Bay , N Carol , Fla , Purdue- - - - WEST- - Iowa St # 8 vs Michigan- - - - top 4 WEST Gonz, Oreg , Duke , Butler- - - - MIDWEST- - KU # 1 vs Playin- - - - top 4 MIDWEST KU, lOUIS , Kent , UCLA - - - - - - TCU last four playin.
In the CBS bracket I like if it turned out The only bad match up I wouldn’t like would be the KSU - - Northwestern. - - Love the possible Okla St vs S Carolina matchup Actually love the possibility of Oklahoma St vs Villa in possible 2nd round, Love WV in the 1st round, then like the 2nd round possibility of Cinn/ Vermont- - - - Baylor’s first 2 rounds looks really favorable- – Vs North Dakota, then possible Mia/ Calif- - - - Love KU first 2 round possibilities - - -The playin in and then possible match up of Virginia Tech/ VCU. - - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
WSU was underseeded when they beat us. Plus, they don’t have near the guards that they had then. CF starts. He’s not near the same player that the other 2 were. Our guard play is much better than theirs…even if their front line outplays us…I think we would match up very favorably against WSU.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 CBS Bracketology doesn’t even have them in the tourney - - first four out - -reasoning, only 2 wins vs top 100. will have to win the tourney - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
I really don’t get how all of this works. WSU just won big, moved into the top 25 in both polls, #16 Sagarin, #13 Pomeroy and yet the drop in Bracketology?
-
@BShark I hear you man. We are Marsha’s super bowl and they would be way, way up for that game. The thing about it is, the 2015 team was arguably the weakest during Selfs tenure and had nine losses. They were punked big time the year before by Texas and were punked again by a much tougher WSU team. While I think we could definitely lose that game if we have a rough shooting day, this team isn’t going to get punked. Frank and Landen are seniors now, Devonte and Svi are upperclassmen and JJ is a fierce competitor, so I don’t think they would own us like last time.
-
@HawkChamp Agree totally. I hate to do this (call a player out), but I must mention the difference in team dynamics between 2 years ago and this year. You mention the fiery competetiveness of Josh. (…and I found myself contemplating Perry’s struggles vs length of Stanford, lackluster vs WSU, and disappearing into his old shell against Villanova…). Especially in a very winnable game vs Villanova. That one really hurt. But you dont really fault a kid for what he simply does not have inside, regarding disposition.
Sad to say, but fiery competetiveness means something. We’ve seen it play out when it wasnt present. EJ is another example. Naadir was another example. The 2012 team is a great example in a positive manner.
-
Too much ball to be played. By this time of year some teams do have a top seed wrapped up, but there are so many variables still. Injuries happen, slumps occur, tough finishing schedules expose teams or weak finishing schedules enhance teams W-L records. I don’t know if anyone ever checks on how good guys like Lunardi and all the others are in predicting. It’d be interesting to know.
-
@wissox not good!
-
@HawkChamp I thought WSU was way under seeded in 2015, they were a top 20 team in every ratings system and got a 7. We were probably over seed @ a 2 with Perry not a 100% and Big Cliff out with his shenanigans. @ralster I thought Perry was the only guy that showed up vs WSU, I believe he had 18 or 20 in that game while we got nothing from KO. Selden (which before last year had a combine 8 points in 4 ncaa games) and everyone else. WSU flatout had more talent and experience than us that year, that’s just how it was. I believe we could beat them this year, they have some bigs but their guards outside of going nuts from 3 don’t hold a candle to ours.
-
It also is interesting to me that KSU is in. Right now they have the B12 with 7 teams in, I think its more likely for 6. KSU and TT play in Manhattan soon to probably see who Joe puts in with TT listed as the next 4 out currently. TT is a game behind KSU in the conference but that non conference SOS of KSUs to me does them in baring finishing in the top half of the B12, TT is a 100 spots higher in that category. Unless its like OU vs Washington in CFP where playing no one and winning is better than losing more to good teams. I honestly don’t get how we are 10th in BPI, 9th in Kenpom but #1 in RPI and 3rd in the massey ratings.
-
Lunardi has the biggest audience (ESPN) but he is just middle if the pack when it comes to predicting the brackets
-
@kjayhawks Perry was hurt, didn’t play in big 12 tourney, got a bloody nose from Fred flintstone. Oubre was in la la land. I didn’t think they were more talented. Took Perry out.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Lunardi isn’t close to being the best. His WSU/KU matchup is click bait.
-
@JayHawkFanToo does he work all year round? Thinking we could do his job?
-
Yes, he even teaches classes/seminars in bracketology.
-
@JayHawkFanToo all paid by espn?
-
I saw a feature on him and they showed him teaching a course in bracketology at at university; I would guess he gets paid extra for that directly by the university. I used to teach graduate classes at KU on my own time and I got paid directly by the School of Engineering.
-
they have him on the WVU vs UT game right now talking bracketology
-
@JayHawkFanToo wonder what school has that course? Unc?
-
Cannot stand Fran and the game is not close so I switched to the Tech-ISU game. ISU by 5 with 6 minutes left.
-
Don’t know why people hate on Lunardi - he has been pretty accurate over the years and besides, who 100% predicts exactly how the committee will seed teams and where they will play? I’m not aware of anyone. Just enjoy the process and the games.
-
@JayHawkFanToo great minds think alike. As soon as Lunardi was done talking i switched it. Watch ESPN is so clutch, thankfully it’s a slow night at work.
-
@HawkChamp I don’t get why he’s any better than anyone else?
-
@HawkInMizery oh geez that’s scary
-
@Crimsonorblue22 lol it’s scary that it’s a slow night at work? Or that we are thinking alike? haha
-
@JayHawkFanToo is it just me or was that a pretty egregious foul not called on ISU on that put back attempt by TTU
-
He is not that good. Most any brackets predictor can pick all the teams since the formulas are known and the NCAA conducts mock sessions for reporters ahead of time. The trick is predicting the seeds and corresponding locations and, as I mentioned, Lunardi is middle of the pack.
Google the brackets project and you will see the predictions by the various sites going back many years and you can draw your own conclussions.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 not saying he’s better but he isn’t that bad, IMO
-
@HawkChamp I didn’t say he sucks
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I fixed it - sorry about that
-
@HawkChamp ok
-
@jayballer54 On the Baylor telecast CBS guys listed WSU as first 4 out. Don’t think that’s accurate either but if they’re a 9 & in Tulsa, the 2AA is only out for ratings …surely that’s a bigcrock of
-
I think Lunardi has done this what 3-4 years in a row putting Wichita St on KU’s side. He does it for clicks and the mail he’ll get over it. It’s nothing more then engineered ESPN drama. They know the situation well.
Wichita has to win its league championship to be safely in. They have zero non-conference wins that give them an edge over any Power 5 bubble team. They split the season series with Illinois St which is their biggest competition. If they drop a game between now and Selection Sunday its going to be a bad loss for their resume
-
@JayHawkFanToo I for sure understand what you mean about Fran. I mean he was ALL up in Texas butt last night, are we sure he isn’t a TEX alum? lol He gets old really really fast. I mean to a degree he makes some valid points, Ya Tex IS young and I actually see where they are getting better, & Oklahoma is the same way. Both are going to be a lot better next year, But for Tex I think Allen is gone, seems to be the talk, Dam wish we could of got him. - - -Man sis you see his facial over Kamonte OMG umm did he ever take him to school wow., Brought flash backs of Chocolate Thunder on that one lol. But for sure agree about Fran = = =ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Sorry, did not see your post last night. I am not sure if it is my iPad updating or what but sometimes when I go over a thread I see posts that were not there before, oh well…
Yes, that was an obvious foul but a Tech really gave the game away with 2 or 3 really bad turnovers such as missing the layup when they had a 3 on 1 break or getting the ball stolen on the inbound right under the basket. It does show how much parity the conference has and how little margin of error there is.
Interesting, ISU, Texas and WVU play each other one more time and they might eliminate each other any way. Hard to believe but ISU is currently in second place and Baylor in fourth place (by tie breaker).
-
At this time I just don’t see Allen staying at Texas, not much more he can learn from Smart and I don’t see Texas contending next year with or without him.
BTW, Allen sure reminds me of Jimi Hendrix…
-
Yeah I can’t see Allen staying when he’s projected to be in the middle 1st round/maybe late lottery discussion. Andrew Jones has shot up boards as well of late and could also depart. Shaka will be in full rebuild at that point if that happens.
-
Texas is starting to look like the Kansas Turnpike, always under construction and never finished…
-
Love it,

That would be brutal for them and it would make me less sad about KU not getting in on Jones sooner. If he is oad, then meh.

@chriz Hold on pardner - we embarrassed the crap out of KU against WVU and ISU. Big time.
