@bskeet I don't think that game is close if flory doesn't pick up 2 fouls immediately

          💯

Two whistles on Flory and one on DP in the first 2 min.. 2 on DP in the first 10. Seemed like the stripes were all about neutering us and keeping the game close.

Meanwhile on the other end of the floor.... crickets

NC State's strategy of not guarding Melvin early backfired. They allowed him to make a couple open ones and shoot with confidence. Once the Wolfpack abandoned that strategy Melvin was playing confidently and that was the difference in the game.

So glad we won that. Coach knew how to fire up his man, Melvin Mfn Council Jr., this week for sure. What a game for him. Rest of the team not too great and only 2 points from the bench is mind-boggling. I hope we see more Rosario soon.

@crimsonblu22 It would have been on Council. He was dribbling up from inbound and NCSt player came in to foul at the end of the game. As Melvin was getting around him, Mel’s elbow hit the player in the nose. Foul was called against NCSt player.

Nice birthday present for me to see KU get a quality road win tonight!

@patoh3 Did it even actually hit his nose? Not a great camera angle. Looked like a flop

OK, KU wins, but 50 min of bench time and only 6 shots, 2 pts. And, Tiller's effort and box score line suck too. But a Win after a week off.

We won, but I feel I have to vent about the officiating. People will say, "Oh, the foul count was even thus the officiating was fair." NO! NC State fouled us on almost every possession and it NEVER got called. We actually defended them without fouling, largely because Tiller and Flory's length make it so we don't have to foul. Had the refs called NC State for their fouls (even if they only call the egregious ones and let the ticky tack ones go), I think we would have coasted to a comfortable win. Oh well, in the end it was better for us. We got experience with adversity and close game situations.

DP's absence is turning KU into a very good team. Which is good, because you can stick a fork in him. He's done. We will not see him play the rest of the season.

Flory got 2 fouls the first 2 minutes, but none the rest of the game. He played all 20 minutes of the 2nd half and all 5 minutes of overtime, without fouling. That's encouraging.

Buddy from KU lives in NC and was at the game. He sent the following text after Melvin made his third 3: “Council. Missed his first 3. Guy next to me says there's a reason he's open. So I repeated that a lot“.

And then 6-7 times after that. What a performance!

I’m missed most of the game, was able to listen to parts of it. So DP is hurt yet again or what is the story there? Council found the bottom of the net I see.

DP played 31 minutes (season high) but his hammy got tight late. It’s pretty clear to me he’s just not quite in game shape yet. The burst is almost there, but needs a little more time to come back entirely.

@FarmerJayhawk okay so nothing serious still just working thru tightness, he hasn’t looked explosive at all in a Jayhawk uniform, not even a little. So hopefully that comes overtime.

@kjayhawks2.0 in all honesty, he's running out of time. The season is almost 1/3 over. Its a real shame that KU will not benefit from a player of that potential caliber
