@BeddieKU23 I was impressed that ISU came back to take a lead after falling way behind early, but they couldn’t keep it going.
-
I think that they will need to let Prohm go sooner rather than later. He was clearly a home run swing hire that fit the current system and wanted to at least try to keep these guys winning. Instead of looking for a proven recruiter.
I mean if OU can get a Lon Kruger, ISU could have found someone similar.
I think that they will probably get worse every season for a while now. Unless the timing can get right and they can bring back the Mayor. But it would take both of them surviving this season and then getting canned after next season.
-
@BeddieKU23 Boy not sure how you got in my head and read my thoughts 100000000%. - - -All I can say is EXACTLY - -spot on. - -I was think the same thing - - soooo they can only get really loud & crazy when KU plays there? - - I couldn’t believe how much that place sounded - - looked like a museum last night deathly quiet.
Terrrible unworthy fans. closet fans - -intimidating? - - -psssssssssssssst please lol. - -only for KU. - -they couldn’t get a stop if their lives depended on it. - -In reality I think Burton really hurts that team ALOT - -just seems like he thinks he can do ALOT more then he actually can. - - I lost track of how many times he just seemed drove down the floor totally out of control and turned the ball over - - just sad. - - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
The biggest issue for Prohm this year is not having 1 post player. Losing that Malou guy to grades crushed their front-court. But I do agree in year 2 we are already seeing a major difference between Fred & Prohm.
Prohm will lose his entire starting 5 and his top returning scorer will be Nick Babb. Wigginton the incoming SG is a stud but the cupboard is bare at ISU. They are in full rebuild mode
-
Remember when Monte was going to be the Conference Player of the year? The announcers said that ISU had to keep the ball in the hands of Monte to protect the ball. The first play, he throws it right to Jevon Carter for an easy WVY layup. It continued throughout the game.
-
@wrwlumpy Fran was probably crying!
-
@BeddieKU23 Oh yea. I mean their post defense is just atrocious. Not to mention they are one of the worst offensive rebounding teams in the country. If he doesn’t solve the post problem next year, they won’t even sniff the tournament.
-
Yeah, cryclone fans are definitely frustrated with his coaching and recruiting. If he doesnt pick it up next year, he will most likely be gone. You never know, if Hoiberg gets canned at Chicago, the fans will be calling to rehire him.
-
Man, why wasnt FRAN FRASCHILLA doing that wvu-isu game? Maybe that would shut him up about it. Fran doesnt realize its the COACH that drives the entire program. Which is ironic, since he supposedly coached himself. And its not like he’s Jimmie Johnson or Bill Cowher in broadcast booth…(he has little cred). Nor is he Bobby Knight or Bilas.
-
probably because he’s doing tonight’s game
-
@BeddieKU23 oh he is? Who is doing play by play?
-
Iowa St has 2 Big’s that are sitting this year. Ray Kasongo that has bounced schools from Juco to Tennesse to ISU. Can’t be excited about a big that averaged 1 pt at Tenn but I’m sure he’ll be improved as most transfers Iowa St take seem to be.
The other Cameron Lard was supposed to be apart of their rotation this year but had academic issues. They are sitting him so he still has 4 years of eligibility. He was a borderline Top 150 player with some skill. ISU will be a very active team for Juco or immediate transfer bigs.
-
@BeddieKU23 noooooo
-
In response to a twitter post asking why he wasn’t in ISU, he said his wife threatened to kill him if he didn’t come home
-
@HawkChamp I really wonder if Fred would go back. So interesting that his daughters at KU. I think Fred’s heart valve has thoroughly been tested this year.
-
So far can’t find who’s doing the game but with it being this big a game have to imagine its Fran and his new sidekick
-
I can’t see Fred going back. It’s kind of like a couple breaking up and then going back together years later. Fred would come back with baggage this time.
-
Gosh… I bet the ISU fan base is in big time meltdown mode. I knew the snit would hit the fan after losing Niang. Losing Fred was the first blow… and the knockout punch was losing Niang.
Niang made all their players look better.
-
@drgnslayr Would you take Fred as a replacement for Bill after he retires?
-
Calipari went to the NBA, bombed big time and came back to college and there is no arguing that he is very successful and Hoiberg is a much better coach than the squid. Pitino also went to the NBA and came back to college and maybe Brad Stevens will someday leave the NBA and come to coach at KU when Coach Self retires. There is no such thing as bad NBA baggage, prospects like a coach with NBA experience.
-
@drgnslayr now Morris and maybe Fran
-
@JayHawkFanToo I don’t mean to speak for another poster, but I read that just as it would be hard for both parties to get over the breakup. Kind of awkward. Not that Fred couldn’t come back and coach in the college ranks.
-
I don’t believe Hoiberg left ISU in bad terms; it would be crazy to hold it against him wanting to coach in the NBA. If he leaves Chicago, I don’t see any reason why he could not come back to ISU…other than what to do with the existing coach…
-
@JayHawkFanToo I totally agree. I think ISU would be dumb to not bring him back if he wanted to come back.
-
I’m not sure he would want to
-
Fred is a solid coach… especially bringing NBA-style offense.
But he wouldn’t be the guy I would look for to replace Bill.
We’ve only had 8 coaches at Kansas. We look for guys to stay a long time. I would look for someone healthier and maybe younger (depending on when Bill leaves).
At Kansas… we think about longevity (and winning).
-
@drgnslayr I didn’t think about the health…
I’d love to see Tony Bennett come here. Seems like the right type of fit.
-
I’m not thinking about baggage from the NBA. I’m thinking of baggage from within ISU. Sure, they still love him. But if he came back, I think they would want to pin him down for too long… they realize he may be for only a short term. They are dealing with Fred being short term now. I doubt they want to be put in that same situation in a few years.
The way to build a program is to establish success with longevity. I don’t see Fred really offering that to a college team.
I don’t really see him going back to ISU as a good thing for ISU.
-
@Kcmatt7 slow game though, good D, he’s kinda cute
-
@Crimsonorblue22 D travels with you everywhere. That’s what I like the best about him. Besides him being cute.
-
I imagine Hoiberg might get another HC shot in the NBA but, if he comes back to college, it is likely for good…much like Pitino and Calipari.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 agreed about Bennett being a good fit. I would be fine with him, Jay Wright or Billy Donovan.
