If a tree falls in the forest and no one cares, does it make a sound?
-
I know I’ve been busy the last few years, but I had no idea this youngster was even on the roster.
-
@dylans Lol I hear ya about Evan, nothing against him in the least BUT WHO WILL remember him 3-4 yrs from now? sorry he just wasn’t a player that was something to get really worked up about.
Then again let’s see How Many if any here remember T.J. Pugh? Far from explosive, talented, - - -But yet played quite a bit, had some moments quality Big guy. - -Anyone else remember him? - - Anyone remember where he came from? - -AH, AH, AH no fair looking it up - -remember from your head - not the inner net lol - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Dr. TJ Pugh is originally from Nebraska, Omaha if I recall correctly.
-
@jayballer54 TJ was in a few of my classes. Funny guy.
-
JR was fun to watch but had issues I’d say we didn’t really miss him because Rush showed up the next year. I think we really missed Padgett, he was a solid big. Giles had a high ceiling but was troubling, anyone remember him scoring for the other team off a missed free throw. We also lost Omar Wilkes to transfer who was apart of the “KU fab five” ended up joke with downs and others. Also we had the galindo kid that left that I never really heard anything else about.
-
Interesting post on the Phog about this. Poster said he had been complaining non-stop since he got on campus.
-
Would be interesting to know how that person knows this for sure. Lots of debby downers on that site. The “darkside” is strong with them.
-
Yeah I’m wondering if someone will ask for more details. I’d do it but I don’t actually post there just lurk.
-
I lurk there as well. It is interesting that he wanted to tranfer close to home- then the KU thing came along and he ended up here. So wonder if his intentions to be close to home popped up again…
-
Supposedly he was looking at D2 offers before KU offered. Just bizarre really.
-
These situations concerning transfers… for the most part I maintain a very high opinion of them.
They came to Kansas believing in Kansas, and most left with the same high regards, but situations change and they are just looking out for themselves. And if they don’t look out for themselves, who will?
None of us know what goes on behind the scenes. Perhaps we are making room for another recruit. One thing… just by adding Preston we pretty much guaranteed there won’t be a pecking order change next year… at least, not in the right direction for Evan.
The ideas of Carlton leaving early for the NBA have vanished. That would be the biggest disaster move he could make.
-
@drgnslayr Don’t assume Preston plays for KU yet. He may very well end up like Terrance Ferguson and Emanuel Mudiay and have to head overseas based on API’s track record of kids getting eligible who spent significant time at the school which Preston did.
-
I hear you… But for Evan, he has to take it like Billy will make it to Kansas.
-
@drgnslayr Even if Preston never gets cleared an Evan took that mindset, he’d still be the 5th big at best next year behind UA, Bragg, Coleby, and Lightfoot. Maxwell’s best case scenario was a starter in 2018-19, but that’s only if KU whiffed on every big man recruit between now and then. Simialr to Justin Wesley being KU’s 4th big in 2011-12 because there was literally nobody else on the team.
Realistically, 4th big in 2018-19 was probably the best case for Maxwell which would mean 7-8 mpg. Since playing time appears to be a priority, who can blame him, and KU didn’t have much to offer, he can now move down to the mid or low majors and play good minutes somewhere while getting a solid education.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 were we just in for his brother?
-
@Crimsonorblue22 I think his brother played a role in KU bringing Evan in, but when Evan’s brother didn’t develop as expected, Evan really became expendable because his brother is no longer a target and Evan was never going to be more than a bench guy.
-
His brother is 7 feet tall and not getting a whiff from P5 schools.
-
@BShark His brother never developed over the summer the way most expected him to. When KU brought Evan in, his brother was projected to end up somewhere between 50-75 and be a solid 4 star, but now he may not even end up playing D1 ball. He has no recruiting profile on any of the major recruiting sites which is very telling about his college basketball future.
-
I wonder how these kids handle the school work side. Most schools require that you complete at least 50%+ of the required coursework in residence and with that many transfers do they even graduate?
-
@JayHawkFanToo You are absolutely correct lol. I give my brother hell about him all the time. I WILL say this TJ always tried hard at least seemed to me, like the kid - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
@BShark Ahhh, a bunch of Phog lurkers – lurkers, lurkers lol - -funny thing is - -I lurk there too lol. but now they have changed you have to be a premium member to read any post - - sooooo minus ONE lurker lol - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
Huh? I would never pay a dime to scout and I can read all the threads just fine lol. There is a premium section but no one uses it.
-
@jayballer54 Tj was/is a good guy and an ok basketball player. His brother was pretty cool too (also in some of my classes). Seems like a good family. Down to earth people.
-
Speaking of trees, wouldn’t it have been nice to have Lauri Markkanen right about now??? Unfortunately this legacy fell completely under the radar and went unrecruited by Kansas (as far as I know).
I couldn’t find the recruiting thread. Is there a new one going? It’s hard to care as much with actual basketball going on.
-
@dylans Apparently it was more about his dad liking Roy than his dad liking KU… Pretty sure the only other place he seriously looked at going was UNC.
-
@Kcmatt7 Did his dad only play one season for KU? Add him to the transfer list! Pretty rare back then, comparatively speaking.
-
When Pekka came to KU he was an older player, 22 years old if I recall correctly, and was listed as a Junior. He played for professional teams before coming to KU and went back after one year to resume his pro career. He was a decent player and his numbers were enough to start but not to be a star. Mark Randall was the other big for that KU team and the better player without a doubt.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Speaking of doctors, I met Dr Christian Moody while I was working in the surgical intensive care unit at KU ummm back in 2012. Real nice guy. We BS’d about the current team, he even gave me an autograph just for kicks.
Ah yah and I met Tyrel Reed coming out of work at the same place one day, probly right before one of his last classes in his PT school. Also, great guy.
