Trae

  • @Ralph

We don’t know where he is going and it is all speculation at this time. If you read my post post, you can see where KU would be the ideal compromise, big program and yet close to home.

  • @JayHawkFanToo I said (why do you care if he’s not coming here) in response to J baller saying (I know he isn’t coming here).

As I have said since summer I don’t think any of the top recruits will sign till they know what DG and Bragg are going to do. so if he waits till February or March he is very much in play. Same goes for T.Brown, Duvall, Preston and a couple of others.

  • @jayballer54 I don’t give a rat’s ass if Kentucky fans are all jacked up and hollering. I like to see Kentucky and Duke fans in pain, teary-eyed on their knees crying about it not being fair. So I guess your right I am a hater I don’t  like Kentucky. Or Duke.

Trae is a kid looking for his best situation. He has one goal right now and that goal is not to play for the NCAA team that he loves. It’s to play in the NBA.

Lightfoot is a kid who always wanted to be a Jayhawk and play at KU. He  jumped at the opportunity to say I’m a Jayhawk. The 2019 kid Markese Jacobs is the same way, he can’t stop tweeting about KU. Theses are the type of kids I follow and hope the best for.

The elite players are nice to have for a year or two but college is not where they want to be.

Markese Jacobs: I Plan on doing this at Kansas

  • @Ralph

Garrett too, though maybe not on the same KU love level as Jacobs. And yeah well said.

I’m going to enjoy this season. Self will sign some kids and coach em up.

  • @BShark thanks for adding Garrett lots of potential.

  • @Ralph

Should be a fun 3-4 years with Garrett. He is the type of player that Self loves, gets after it on D.

  • @Ralph

    Bravo!

I am super psyched about signing Markese some day!

  • @Ralph ya good luck with that. – ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BAY

  • @Ralph GOOD FOR YOU - -be proud of that. I am a College basket ball fan period I eat sleep and drink it - -it’s my only time of year, I always have, AND always will follow ALL basketball recruits, whether it be ONE STAR four year players that have shown interest in KU or FIVE STAR OAD’S that are also being recruited by KU. That’s how I stay informed on these players Now you answer me honestly, What player can you name that NOT making it to the N.B.A is their main goal? - -I mean isn’t that what the basketball game is all about? going and achieving the ultimate goal of playing in the N.B.A ? If a player can play for the College he loves AND make it to the N.B.A that’s even better for them. So until Trae has OFFICALLY committed to Kentucky - -no matter how slim the chances are of him coming here, I will continue to follow his recruiting process , I continue and will always continue to do that with all these kids until we are officially counted out - - - So ya that’s why U care - - that’s why I give a rats ass. I by far can’t stand Calipari - -or that bone nose Coach at duke - - Can’t stand either one of them, BUT they too are also recruiting the same players we are so be it, ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 said (That’s how I stay informed on these players Now you answer me honestly, What player can you name that NOT making it to the N.B.A is their main goal?)   Tyler Self.

This is a quote from Tyler so if you want to dispute it contact him.

Of his career possibly being coaching, Tyler Self said: “I’d say it’s too early to predict. I’m not going to rule it out, but I don’t think it (coaching) is the path I want to take immediately. “Whether it’s operations, coaching, whatever, I don’t know. I’m not going to rule anything out, but I do want to do something with basketball. That’s where my passion is.”

These numbers come from NCAA.ORG  http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/research/mens-basketball

Of the 18697 ncaa basketball players in 2015 around 4155 were draft eligible, 46 were drafted in the NBA draft. Others went to the D league and some went overseas. A total of 12.2%.   1.1% NBA DRAFT

All the players know these numbers and the reality of being drafted. I’ll go out on a limb and say 70% know they have absolutely no chance of going pro. Some dropout others complete their degree and go on to live a normal life like the rest of us.

Now you bring up the crystal ball often. If this is your main source for staying informed. As you often say. LMFAO

  • @jayballer54 No offense intended towards the poster. Jayballer your awesome. But I really am not worried about Trae Young. Thats next season.

What I am focused on is this team now and what those guys could do this season!

    Rock Chalk Baby!

  • @Ralph and here we go with you again – UMM NO not hardly but thanks for asking ROFLMMFAO would make it MUCH simpler. - - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @Lulufulu Agreed for sure - - & I think we have a chance to be pretty special for sure, could be very exciting- - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • @jayballer54 I have no clue what that was suppose to mean.

  • @Ralph it’s ok. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

  • Young is definitely going to Kentucky

  • @drgnslayr thanks for the video! me too. made me go to the youtube archives to check out some grainy baby frank highlights.

  • @approxinfinity

Markese Jacobs reminds me of another Jayhawk - Sherron Collins.

Check out some old Sherron HS highlights. Sherron was thicker than Jacobs is, but they have very similar game.

  • @drgnslayr @justanotherfan Jacobs has a couple years of high school left, hopefully he will put on 15+ pounds before arriving then Hudy can make his body look more lIke Frank than Sherron.

PANGOS MIDWEST: IS MARKESE JACOBS THE NEXT SHERRON COLLINS? http://ballislife.com/markese-jacobs-sherron-collins/

  • @BShark

    Sounds like the Phog.

Crazy how people turn on kids with the slightest news that really didn’t clear anything up for anyone. I don’t see Young deciding until the spring when he knows what Graham will do. The January date just seems like something to shut up the media

  • @BeddieKU23

Yeah typical toxic fanbase. I don’t know if UK has any decent boards.

They seem to think we negative recruited UK to Oubre who…grew up liking KU. Makes sense. They also thought they were getting Wiggs so that was tough for them as well.

There is just too much stupid in that thread to even properly address but the best part of me is that they seem to think KU is a magical death vortex for guard failure. Because Selden stayed three years and wasn’t lotto. Because projections can never be wrong.

  • @BShark

You said it best- toxic. Bad, wish fans could talk things like normal human beings but you truly find out there isn’t many places like that. That’s why this place is really a gold mine most of the time.

Young could still end up at UK because I do think he can play off the ball and be effective- his shooting ability says so. I’ve always thought UK was the team he likes the most but the Green/Alexander situation changes things… KU just needs to keep grinding away and hopefully get him to a big game where our guards show out in front of his eyes.

What Mason & Graham are doing definitely helps.

  • @BeddieKU23

Yeah, I do not understand what drives people to say such things about kids. Even worse is on twitter tweeting at the kid. Our fanbase does it too, unfortunately. I use twitter but I would never tweet at a recruit.

Seems like Hami is headed to UK and if that happens it becomes a lot less likely that Trae goes there. That would give them a PG, a CG and a SG. 3 for 2 spots already and that is if Briscoe leaves.

Fwiw Matt Scott thinks we get a visit from Trae.

  • @BShark One of those posts was interesting. Washington could definitely fire Lorenzo Romar if the ship doesn’t get turned around. Two losses to TCU, a blowout by Gonzaga and a close win against Long Beach State have them trending WAY down.

So if their coach gets canned, does Michael Porter become available again??? And can JJ show just what type of role MPJ could have? We need JJ to keep putting numbers up!

  • @Kcmatt7

I don’t think they will do it but it would probably put Porter JR back on the market if they did.

  • @BShark

Yes the Diallo situation is interesting if he doesn’t go Pro like Maker did… With scouts already saying Diallo should go to College its likely he ends up at UK. That would help KU out…

I do hope we get a visit and its not the UK/KU game… January 14th against Oklahoma St- another one of the schools he’s considering maybe? Have to think it will be a weekend game so that leaves OSU, Tech, Texas, or Iowa St in January/Early February

  • @Kcmatt7

Would KU really even be an option seems how he eliminated KU from his list first time around… The only dynamic that works in KU’s favor is Romar is fired, Trae goes to KU and both Jackson/Svi go pro leaving a spot open and somehow KU got involved again. Seems like a lot of domino’s will have to occur…

  • The more I read this thread, the more nuggets there are. Yeah UK totally offered Young before KU. It’s not like they offered him 4 months later.

  • @BShark

Didn’t Trae say KU has been recruiting him since Sophomore year? I doubt UK got involved that early

  • @BeddieKU23

I don’t think he’d want to play with Preston.

  • @BeddieKU23

Yeah KU was heavily involved before UK.

  • @BShark

Good point, there’s always the chance Preston never plays here as well. I don’t think Romar will be fired as he’ll have a top 5 pick again and a good class on its way that could be turned upside down if he is fired.

  • @BeddieKU23

Romar’s record the previous 4 years has hovered barely over .500 and he finished T6, T8, 11 and 8 in conference with no winning conference record, no NCAA and 2 early NIT exits. One more bad season and he could be toast.

  • @BeddieKU23 Well it won’t happen until March at the earliest. So I think less has to happen than you’re assuming. I mean it is Bill’s Spring specialty to bring in a stud in March, April or June. And we did definitely just land JJ even with Svi on the roster. Just saying. I know Newman complicates things, but if the 4 guard is successful this year, Bill won’t hesitate to implement it next year with the right pieces. Another 6’9 uber wing would almost guarantee another 4 guard lineup next season.

  • @JayHawkFanToo

I agree most coaches would be on the hot-seat and he probably is especially with the early season going south. But how much will the success of Fultz this year and in the Draft next summer and Porter a top 3 player sway an administration’s decision when its a football school again? If Porter wasn’t already signed I think he’d be on the verge of being fired during the season the way the last few seasons have played out. He’s also already got Porter’s younger brother committed in the class after who’s a top 50 kid. Going to be one to watch.

  • @BeddieKU23

You could be right. The incoming players might be his lifesaver.

  • @Kcmatt7

    Valid points.

The one thing holding all that up is he didn’t even have KU in his final list before he committed to Washington. What’s to say we miraculously get back in it?

I do agree a lot can change in Bill’s favorite time of the year.

  • @JayHawkFanToo

Washington also signed 3 other really good players in Top 100 Guards Davis & Nowell and underrated PG Harris from North Carolina… Washington is a young squad with only 1 senior as well.

  • @BeddieKU23 It definitely is a long shot.

But what will have changed is Bill. Originally recruiting him and telling him we will make him look good. We will mix him in at the 2,3 and 4 to show off his skill. Then MPJ goes and watches 12+ years of Bill running a strict 3-2 high low. Well this season of tape would be a huge recruiting tool. Plus, JJ now being a sure-fire top 5 pick helps a lot. And he is looking more and more like the #1 pick. Look how we used Josh and Wiggs. We will do that to you. We will get you ISO’s open 3s and get you out in transition to show off your athleticism.

We finally have something to sell MPJ. We didn’t before.

And while I do agree that his incoming class could save him, he has had stud classes the last 4 or 5 years. And what has happened, he hasn’t been able to keep them on the team. He has had 6 players (not including walk-ons) that have transfered, quit or been kicked off of the team. Something is wrong with that picture. And as good of a class as he has coming in, there are a ton of red flags around that program right now.

  • @BeddieKU23 I agree totally. I don’t think Washington will fire him THIS year, mainly I think because of what they got coming in next year - -with porter being the big Catch, if they fail to produce NEXT year then maybe. – -ROCK CHALK ALL YEAR LONG BABY

  • @Kcmatt7

Good points! We will have something good to sell him now that maybe he didn’t see last summer. Will be interesting to see what happens
