  The one thing they don’t talk about in that article is the potential for a super big lineup. That lineup wouldn’t be used all the time, but they could legitimately play a group like Selden - PG, 6-5 White III - SG, 6-6 Wiggins - SF, 6-8 Lucas - PF, 6-10 (or Ellis, 6-9) Embiid - C, 7-0 That’s NBA size or better at every spot. There are maybe 2 teams in the whole country that can match that type of size and talent.

  Thanks for posting this. I don’t got the the ESPN site so I wouldn’t have seen it otherwise. FWIW I had to pause Ghostery to get the video to work. Fran Frachilla’s interview with Wiggins is worth watching. Andrew is a well-spoken young man with the emphasis on young. I wish he would stick around so we could see him realize his potential as a young adult. I expect he will be well-grounded and responsible. I sure wouldn’t want to see a flash back to when I was his age.

  Agree with Tharpe having shown much of what Self wants in a lead guard: recall the 20assist:1 turnover stretch about 9mos ago at the start of BigXII play? Recall the ability to “read” the unsuspecting D and slash to the rim backside, like Tyshawn used to? Also remember with the game on the line at OkieState, during one of the double OTs, Tharpe went off the dribble vs. Forte and scored a pullupJ in the lane? Kid also has that competetive swagger, maybe a bit more than EJ did. I hope his D is better, but everyone may be behind the curve on that issue, given the recent NCAA rule shift…My money is on BOTH Tharpe being THE guy…and on Mason to be a quick study, hopefully. Think of Tharpe in 1 more way: most people who criticized EJ at the end of the Michigan game, were actually offerring Tharpe as the alternative…so there is evidence that others saw what I saw in Tharpe. (Not to start a side topic, but I still would have had EJ in the game, just as Self did…we are just saying “sit” EJ because of hindsight).

  @JayDocMD, good points. Regarding EJ, I dont really recall him ever stirring the pot by saying things in public or to the media. He was pretty reserved & all biz during the '12 Champ run. And he was too much of a nice-guy who showed inconsistent motivation his senior year. Regarding the game @ IowaSt, their fans were heckling him as bad as Mizzou fans, and he was jawing at them, and without question, those Clone fans unwittingly helped their own demise by absolutely firing up that 6’4 5star kid, who absolutely hung 39pts on them. My wish was that we “bottled” that particular EJ. But you cannot expect someone to exist outside of their base personality very long…meaning, you cannot expect EJ to play “mad” every single game. Smart is a fine talent, I just hope our team beats his on gameday. RCJH.

  If you ever watch HC Self’s interviews or listen to his radio program, you know that one of the things that makes him such a good coach is his ability to remember every detail of previous games. Sometime he will describe specific plays from games weeks before in minute detail. I am sure he does not need to watch tape of the last game to remember exactly how it developed. He has never indicated he does not watch tape during the season, and it is done mostly for the benefit of players; coaches know exactly what went on during the game, players not so much and need to be reminded.

  Part of Oubre decision to attend KU was based on “other” schools making unready players go pro after one year. Oubre’s dad said he wants his son to develop before jumping to the league. At this point Oubre looks like a two year player.

  Love it. Enjoyed watching him destroy Dwight Howard (albeit a recovering Dwight Howard) last year in the preseason (link). If JJ Hickson can start there the majority of last season and average a double double, there’s gotta be a role for a rebound first guy like TomRob.

  It’s great to see egos “checked at the door” mentality. I believe Wiggins is as advertised and that to me means he is a humbled young man which means he is teachable. I think the kids coach recruits are that personality they want to learn and coach doesn’t pull strings and sacrifices his coaching ways for these primadonna’s and Wiggins is not like the rest. (make sense). I think we will make young mistakes but those will be corrected and the ball will be rolling by mid January. Gundy says what’s on his mind so I think he is spot on. That crap about coaching in the NBA is another way for KuSports to create drama that isn’t there. Stude
