  @ralster Sorry, I can’t be much help on that point–I don’t really follow the local recruiting scene. The idea makes sense though–imagine a West Coast kid visiting back east or midwest in the dead of winter. Maybe the winter weather has something to do with Rick Barnes & Scott Drew’s recruiting abilities. I do remember hearing that story about the Twins. I was just making a little joke about the scenario.

  @Blown “Another infamous big mouth.” YEECH! Donald Trump… the guy that has uninformed spectators believing he is a business man. Here is a guy who has basically spent up $4 billion of his daddy’s money. I believe his inherited wealth was something like $6.5 b, and he has wasted it down to $2.5 b. Bet his dad rolls over in his grave every time his kid opens another failing casino or silly building with gold TRUMP letters on it!

He must have spent his whole life with his dad feeding him spot ups. There is no room at the next level for spot up shooters. You have to be able to move and score. Create your own scoring, too.

  @truehawk93 I agreed. Without sounding like a sore loser, I found it hard to believe that in a non-free market (all scholarships are the same and rules are governed by NCAA), such congregration of OADs is feasible. What intangibles are UK selling that are so good? Posh Housing? NBA Lottery Picks Track Records? If it is NBA Lottery Picks Track Records, then, all 2015 Class should come to Lawrence. I get it when you are Google, Apple, Microsoft, you get all the talents you want.

  @BeddieKU23 You have not ruffled my feathers. I feel the same. I have been a Jamari supporter for years. Love the guy but he really has not turned into the player I thought he could be. He is really a solid guy off the bench for 10-15 minutes but that is about it. I am afraid his ceiling just isn’t that high. Lucas looked really really bad at the beginning of the year. He slowly but surely improved and he certainly plays hard and has a high basketball IQ. But I am not sure that he will ever be able to change the game on either end of the floor. Mickelson is pretty good when he is in. Obviously there must be some reason we just don’t see him on the floor as much as you would think. That said, his ceiling does not seem that high either. Good utility guy but not the starting center on a top 10 program.

  Got these numbers from wikipedia so I apologize in advance if they’re inaccurate. The percentage of 2 seeds advancing in the round of 32 past either 7 or 10 seeds historically lies at about 67%. Strong odds but greatly reduced compared to 1 seeds vs 8 or 9 seeds which rests at around 86%. Almost a twenty point difference. Kansas’ performance as a 2 seed (7 times with 3 losses coming in the second round) is around 58%. Undeniably under-performing with two of the three losses coming this year and last year. The positive in me says in ten years, with the consistency of our program, that number should progress closer towards the mean or even exceed it.

  @ralster All valid points. However there are two things you hit on, that kind of make my point (even though for the most I think we are on the same page). College basketball is changing. Unless the NBA changes their stance on allowing kids out of High School 3 to 4 year players will be mostly be an anomaly. Well unless they just love college to much, won’t fall for the get the money now, or they’re just clue guys. So that means a school like KU will be turning over its lineup almost every year. Meaning that every year new players well be expected to learn a new and difficult offense. You said yourself HCBS plays a difficult offense to learn. Don’t get me wrong I love the High/Low as much as the next KU fan. However this year really opened my eyes to the real success of HCBS’s High/Low system. His system not only needs a scorer but someone that can pass in the paint. It just wasn’t there. Though I think us KU fans maybe underestimating Lucas. I know you’ve heard me more than once on the issue of the three. Yet as you said it yourself KU players can shoot the three if it’s open. That’s kind of my point, and why I’m a bit upset with HCBS’s coaching this year. You who has played the game (and so have I) know as well as I do if something isn’t working you try something different, or at the very least tweak what you’re doing. Yet time after time KU comes down on offense and tries to pound the ball inside. No sets to run a three shot. They only come if all else fails The game is changing and if HCBS is going to recruit as he has been. Then I think he needs to reinvent himself. Play to your strengths. Trying to teach a High/Low to kids that are gone after one year doesn’t make sense to me, but hey maybe I’m wrong and HCBS goes onto win the next two or three championships. If so trust me I’ll be on here preaching that I was completely wrong. Yet I’m afraid for HCBS and the KU program. The last couple of years have been far from just disappointing.

  @Crimsonorblue22 I really like Green’s upside as a junior over Selden’s. Selden is a headcase that just doesn’t seem to be getting better. So, if Selden goes, it may be a huge benefit. I think if Selden leaves, we have a better shot at Newman. With Bragg, Diallo, and Newman, our chances increased vastly for a NC. Like Self is saying, bring back the core of Ellis, Mason, Green, Graham, and we have an even better team. Newman has swag and he has a Selby type cockiness, but with a better head and IQ on his shoulders.
