Self is not going out like this. He will coach this year, and then be done.

Hard pass on the Cornell kid. 6”7 only shot 32% from 3. Didn’t even average 15 pts in Ivy League. Who ever for ku has been doing the transfer scouting needs to sit this round out. Go get the New Mexico kid for PG and go back to 4 guard athletic lineup. Let’s not get the Ivy League version of KJ
Dent isn’t going to KU. Not every player wants to go to KU.

RE: Bracketology
This is a great draw for KU. Time to make some noise.

RE: Golf thread
I already watched the whole new season. I really enjoyed the Gary episode. He is such a good dude. Glad to see he is doing better, and has had some decent finishes this year.

RE: Peterson
@Woodrow I assume that’s me that you’re referring to. Do you want to be Kentucky during the Cal years? 4-5 OAD’s every year all over the NBA with nothing to show for it? I don’t. But I guess I’m dumb and dumber.
No sir! Not you.

RE: Peterson
Say something dumb and then double down. Amazing.

I live in Ohio, and I’m sorry, but it’s become obvious to me that a LOT of Kansas fans under 30 are spoiled brats. I think the fact that they are also Chiefs fans makes this worse. They haven’t really experienced losing, so they can’t handle it. Mix the age, the keyboard warrior mentality, the media-driven modern win it all or you are just a loser narrative, and it’s a mess.
This isn’t just fans under 30. There are a lot of older fans as well, that have no clue how to handle a down year. This has been brutal on the floor, but I’d argue our fans off the floor have been far more embarrassing.
I think a lot of it is our experience and preseason ranking, most of us were fine with down years in 2005, 2009, 2014, 2019 and 2023. The manor in which we lose is also super frustrating for the most experienced team in CBB. If we just would’ve had our head outta our asses we could easily be sitting at 24-5 and tonight’s game would be deciding the B12.
The teams you mentioned were seeded : 3,3,2,4, and 1.
You are kind of making my point. The fact that KU fans consider those down years is funny. Shit happens. UNC was a preseason number 1 and missed the tournament.

RE: Peterson
DP will be at KU next year. Also, coaches from all schools go and watch committed players. It is called continuing a relationship. You don’t just ignore players when they commit. This isn’t difficult to figure out.
-
RE: Chiefs offseason
They are not going to trade Smith. They will sign him to a long term deal.

@Kcmatt7 I wish I felt the same way I’m just absolutely disgusted in Selfs decision making the last few years. This program headed down in a bad way. I’m hearing Peterson is now having second thoughts about coming and for the record I don’t blame him one bit. I would steer clear of this place if I was him. I’m just scratching my head as to why you would build a 20 point lead with Flory and Rylen then set them down for most of the next half. At this point KJ is the worst multiple year starter in the Self era and Juan is the worst PG.
LOL… You aren’t hearing shit on Peterson. So dramatic.

@Bosthawk Wait… Are you citing a win at Indiana to try and prove something? Surely not.

RE: Lance is COOKING
@Jhawk69 said in Lance is COOKING:
Since winning the title in 2022 we have had:
2023: a season where we won the Big 12 and earned a one seed but got bounced early
2024: our worst season under Bill Self but we lost our best player due to injury and were still ranked all season and never in danger of missing the tournament
2025: mostly TBD but right now looks like a borderline top-10 team that is a long shot to win the title
That is nowhere near bad enough to panic. If you don’t believe me look at the history of every other program in college basketball. If we have a couple more below-average seasons or ever miss the tournament then there might be cause for concern.
Also,in 2023 something else pretty serious happened right before the tournament.

Also wanna say I hate that Zeke is on this roster. I know the front of that jersey means something to that kid and he’s played his ass off. He’s just stuck on a roster where the circle of trust runs this roster.
You don’t think the front of the jersey means anything to Juan or KJ??

Rumblings: AJ Storr starts in this game.
IMO this is best case scenario. Hopefully he has earned it practice, and that carries over to games. This allows for Griffen to come off the bench and be instant offense.

RE: Offseason Roster Thread
@nuleafjhawk obviously it is the coaches opinion that watch him practice everyday.

Interesting to note why it was important to keep JD6.
Tulane’s QB who is a true sophomore is rumored to have a $4M/yr deal to go play at Duke for the next two seasons. You DO NOT want to need a portal QB. Tulane QB is a total stud but that is a steep price.
Exactly. There was a large contingent of KU fans that wanted to move on from JD6. That would have been a true FAFO moment as KU would not be very good at all without him next year. They just cant not realistically compete in the NIL market for true P4 starting caliber QB’s.
-
RE: Chiefs Are Just Lucky
Vegas did not think Mahomes was going to play. That is why the Texans were favored. Now that Mahomes was a “full participant” today at practice the Chiefs are favored by 2.5 .

Twice. First time he came in he took a terrible shot in about 15 seconds, and then played the last 2 minutes or so of the half.

RE: Muck Fizzou
@kuballin10 First of all we have no idea what is going to happen this year.
Road performances are an issue, but I am not going to freak out about this year 9 games in.
Also, lets not forget about the COVID tournament being cancelled. That team was elite. It is not HCBS fault a pandemic hurt.
Let’s see what happens over the next month.
-
RE: Muck Fizzou
Also, for the record myself or anyone else with a functioning brain doesn’t have to state a case for Bill Self. His records speak for themselves. People acting like he forgot to coach, is “mediocre”, etc… are just telling on themselves. It makes them sound dumb and uneducated when it comes to basketball.
-
RE: Muck Fizzou
@kuballin10 What exactly did I over exaggerate? I used your word, did I not?

RE: KU vs Duke Game Thread
Great game all around. The depth on this team is great to see. They have so many players that can actually play at this level, and contribute.
Tough day for the Juan and KJ haters. They were both just awesome.
Only “complaint” I have would be I was surprised Storr didn’t play down the stretch. He was playing great, and IMO he is the one guy that can create off the dribble for himself.

@nuleafjhawk I believe it is $10.99 a month, but they are raising it to $11.99 a month in the near future.

RE: New Stadium questions
I am not sure where the confusion is. The plan the whole time was to complete the West side of the stadium, and then when the money is right they will do the East side. Unfortunately, it is going to probably take awhile to finish the East side, but the West side is going to look awesome. It will enhance the game day experience 10 fold.

@FarmerJayhawk Yeah that’s 100% what I said - solid analysis there Farmer.
People hammer Cal for his roster talent and 1 title
Bill’s had the same talent and has 2 with all those 1 seeds ect. Something to dive into there….and yes, it has to do with philosophy and minute distribution
Self has 100% absolutely not been handed the same talent as Cal… That is an insane comment.
-
RE: Transfer Rumblings
@kuballin10 said in Transfer Rumblings:
@approxinfinity Fair points
D2’s passing angles are minimal because every team has figured out to go under ball screens with him
His ball handling isn’t good; he’s extremely loose with the ball
He’s not a legitimate KU d1 athlete he’s more mo state level
We can agree to disagree but remember all this hype for this roster and watch how it plays out this year….
Yes. Let’s watch.

RE: Keeping track of the ever changing 24-25 roster
It also sounds like Kugel isn’t 100% out right now. He and KU are doing everything they can to make it happen. I don’t think we would be able to add anyone with his potential if he doesn’t make it. So I assume there is some urgency on KU’s part to get it done.

Id like Hunters minutes to go down as well. We need him fresh for the post season.
Agree 100%. Self confirmed he was playing banged up most of the year this week. That combined with all of his minutes contributed to his regression in shooting. IMO.
Get his minutes down to 27-30 and he will be a much more efficient shooter down the stretch.
We *should have enough depth this year to keep everyone fresh.
