RE: Jacque Vaughn... Thoughts?
@dylans Roy Williams had a 418-101 record and a .805 winning percentage during his 15 seasons as head coach at Kansas from 1988 to 2003. His teams were ranked in the Top 25 for 145 consecutive weeks from 1991 to 1999. He led Kansas to 14 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including two national championship games.
I guess we can look at virtually any subject and see things differently. Roy was seconds away from having 2 NC’s at KU, just like Bill. IN MY OPINION - (cuz that’s all we have here) his teams were more talented and fun to watch. How did he fizzle out at the end of his KU tenure? His last game was a National Championship game.
I’m not saying he was a better coach than Self (although, statistically he was - 80.5% to 80.4%) I just liked watching Roy’s passion and the uptempo game that his teams played. In the long run, Big 12 Championships are nice but don’t mean a whole lot.

RE: Jacque Vaughn... Thoughts?
@Jhawk69 I agree. I could actually stay awake during Roy’s reign.
-
RE: Jacque Vaughn... Thoughts?
@dylans he was also green as hell when he moved to Kansas. Time and experience jaded him. Like all of us.
-
RE: Jacque Vaughn... Thoughts?
@dylans Is there something mystical about the “East”? Roy had way better recruits
-
RE: Jacque Vaughn... Thoughts?
@wissox Is that your way of asking if Roy was the better recruiter.
-
RE: Jacque Vaughn... Thoughts?
@DanR said in Jacque Vaughn... Thoughts?:
" Vaughn, 50, who played at KU for four seasons "
This is a lie. Or at least a misprint. Nobody has ever stuck with a college team for four years. Unless his NIL money was better than what he could make in the NBA.
Sorry. I’m just feeling that way today. Love me some Jacque Vaughn.

RE: So I was walking around Walmart yesterday…
So, this will sound weird. It did to me anyway. I went to a paranormal conference Saturday. First time I’d done anything like that. It was interesting and fun. I listened to a couple of intriguing speakers. But there was a guy named Dustin Pari who is pretty well know in the area of paranormal investigation. He spoke for an hour. Almost exclusively about non paranormal stuff. Talked about how we need to love each other better. Be kind. Don’t get in the agent’s face at the airport when the flight is delayed for 20 minutes. Just normal (not paranormal!) common sense stuff that we’re losing touch with as a society. I liked the guy a lot. I’ll watch his ghost shows any time I see them.

RE: Gas BBQ grill problem. Got a fix?
@drgnslayr I like placing an order and having someone bring me food.
-
RE: Smarter Bots Are Coming
@approxinfinity It’s called “Progress”
Thanks, society.
-
RE: Gas BBQ grill problem. Got a fix?
@rockchalkjayhawk Wonderful! I guess the equivalent of kicking the tires or unplugging something and plugging it back in?
-
RE: Gas BBQ grill problem. Got a fix?
@rockchalkjayhawk I usually wrap my food in tinfoil and cook it on the manifold of my truck while I’m driving…
Sorry, I really wish I could help. My best mechanic is YouTube.

RE: Dam we have lost two really good players.
@SlimShaddy54 We’re KU. We should be used to getting shafted by now.
-
RE: WOW - ---BOOM BOOM , AVERY JOHNSON
@SlimShaddy54 Jesus loves K-State too. Probably. I guess.
-
RE: Playing baseball on turf
@approxinfinity it’s the beginning of the apocalypse
-
RE: How will our coaches adapt to rosters full of 1 to 2 year guys?
1 and 2 year players?
OH! Juniors and Seniors!
-
RE: What tandem will be better than Flory / Peterson
@approxinfinity Will any teams do more with lesser combos? Yup.
-
RE: The portal.
@Zabudda the further down the line we are the better. #1 hasn’t worked out well the past couple of years.
-
RE: The portal.
@kuballin10 Sweet Sixteen, huh? You’re setting the bar pretty high.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
@kjayhawks I agree. I’ve seen a couple of floor burns tonight. I almost forgot what that was. They may still lose. But they’re playing like grown men.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
I wish this Houston team had “KANSAS” written across their jerseys
-
RE: All of a Sudden
Any lawyers out there in KU Buckets-land? I was just wondering if we can file some sort of class action lawsuit against “you know who” to repair some of the emotional and financial devastation he’s caused in the past few months. Maybe we could hire Willie Gary???

RE: FLORY FLORY FLORY FLORY FLORY
@approxinfinity I’d do cartwheels! Jump for Joy! Praise God! Only half of what I’m worth would be a huge windfall
-
RE: FLORY FLORY FLORY FLORY FLORY
@approxinfinity nah. That was my sarcastic care
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
@dylans I always congratulate my KSU people on their Livestock Judging Championships. A few of them are smart enough to know it’s not a compliment. A very few.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
@BeddieKU23 The instant that you see them.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
@wissox I’m sorry about your grandma and I understand your connection to the place. I’m talking strictly about the basketball team and i despise everything about them.
-
RE: Hot Take: We Overvalue our own players
@BShark Not Amy more embarrassing than college sports in general.
-
RE: NCAA Tournament Discussion
@wissox Duke is owned by the Trump foundation. The trophy is already engraved.
That may or may not be true. But it feels true.
-
RE: All of a Sudden
@Crimsonorblue22 I guess I didn’t know that was a thing. BUT - I’ve been protesting every day since he was elected.
-
RE: All of a Sudden
Am I the only one who thinks they’ll never be able to retire because the psychopath president keeps trying to bankrupt this country? I mean, financially as well as morally.
-
RE: The portal.
@msanchez technically, it’s called "slow motion offense "
-
RE: Hot Take: We Overvalue our own players
"Kansas, the preseason No. 1 team in the nation, lost to the Arkansas Razorbacks in the round of 64, becoming the second team in college basketball history to lose in the first round after beginning the season atop the rankings. The other team to suffer that fate was the 2005 Kansas squad. "
We have some work to do.
-
RE: The portal.
@rockchalkjayhawk I feel like Jim has been trolling this site and stealing my words.
-
RE: The portal.
@DCHawker You’re a top prospect. Do you want to go to the state of Kansas and play for a guy who seems to have lost his imagination. Who plays a boring brand of ball?
Me either.
-
RE: Peterson
@dylans There’s a reason people write songs like this.
-
RE: The portal.
@DCHawker Yes, it is less. None of those schools and most other schools have never had the prominence and “royalty” that KANSAS had.
-
RE: The portal.
@DCHawker Because we’re not KANSAS anymore. We’re Kansas. Nobody is intimidated, nobody particularly wants to play here unless they have some obscure ties to the University or this part of the Midwest.
-
RE: Hot Take: We Overvalue our own players
@BShark Oh come on now. A BEAST who averages 5.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game is worth at least 3 mil. By those standards, my boss will surely up my pay to 837 billion per year.
-
RE: Are you watching Peterson's clinic in the McD's Game?
@SlimShaddy54 have you tried Honeycrisps? They could turn you
-
RE: Are you watching Peterson's clinic in the McD's Game?
@SlimShaddy54 I appreciate what you’re saying, but I’m saying - what can these guys do for KU? I really don’t give a hoot about their NBA careers. And almost none of them - any team except Syracuse and Carmelo Anthony can boast a One and Done that really, really helps the team/program.
-
RE: Are you watching Peterson's clinic in the McD's Game?
@approxinfinity Lol - You know what really helps? Having basketball season over. Well, over for us. I’ve actually enjoyed watching the tournament this year. Plus the Women’s teams - oh my - they play a much better brand of ball in my opinion. You know - weird stuff like passing, rebounding, free throw shooting - crazy stuff like that.
And, by the way…tell me I’m wrong about the OAD’s.
-
RE: Are you watching Peterson's clinic in the McD's Game?
@SlimShaddy54 He will lead us to the promised land. Just like all the other complete legit packages. Shall I list them? I shall:
Josh Jackson
Andrew Wiggins
Ben McLemore
Joel Embiid
Xavier Henry
Gradey Dick
Josh Selby
Cliff Alexander
Cheick Diallo
Those nine players - highly regarded, smooth, fierce - whatever words you want to use to describe them did absolutely nothing to improve the program. Nor did any one of them lead us to a National Championship. You know who takes teams to NC’s? Seasoned veterans. Juniors and Seniors. So, I’m not going to put all my eggs in Peterson’s Easter basket because he won’t do any more for KU than any other person listed here.
-
RE: Are you watching Peterson's clinic in the McD's Game?
@dylans I feel like I’m much less caustic…
