RE: Nature
@RockChalkinTexas-0 My wife does puzzles with the kids and i hover for a bit. Theyre currently doing the 1000 piece pokemon puzzle again. Its slightly sadistic. Deceptively hard because the pokemon art has large single color areas. I think most of our puzzles are 1000 pieces. We have a few “magic puzzles” we still have to open.

RE: Roll Call
Maybe we should start a 2020s parenting hacks for children of the 90s thread @kjayhawks2.0

RE: 2026 KU Season
@ROCKCHALK2025 sorry to hear man. Hope it stabilizes for you. Been thinking about you as well.

RE: Darryn Peterson
@benshawks08 this is a fantastic underexplored point: all season long many of assumed that the reason the team had no chemistry with DP was because they deferred to him and that time would solve this problem (if we were optimistic) or that DP was a prima donna, or everyone else on the team was a midmajor wuss and thats why the chemistry wasnt there (if we were not).
But maybe in actuality they were all worried for the kid or weirded out by the situation. Maybe no amount of extra time on the court was going to fix it because the lack of an explanation hung over every play.
This makes way more sense than assuming there was something wrong with individual personalities regarding the lack of a cohesive team identity.

RE: Roll Call
@rockchalkjayhawk Im sorry about your mom. She raised a fine young man and I’m glad you are with us. We still have a World Cup ahead. Lets get this American fiasco started already haha. Speaking of which I havent looked at what Roger Bennett is doing this World Cup.

RE: Roll Call
@BShark yeah i really soured on the bullshit cycling subscription games.
If you want to play an indy mobile game that is extremely well balanced, no DLC and obviously a labor of love, try Slay the Spire, or Balatro. Those two cured me of Arena.
What i really love about Spire is that everything is configurable so after you beat it you can find ways to challenge yourself. Its clear the developer just wanted to give something really good to people.

RE: Roll Call
@benshawks08 im really sorry to hear about your partner. I have had that thought about just holding on for the ride many times since 2020 as well. i think we are all in various states of disarray and disconnect these days, but i remain deeply hopeful that there are moments of beauty and connection ahead.
As for MTG i have basically retired from it after playing a shit ton of arena. Many many decks with the one ring and sheoldred the apocalypse. That was around the height of my interest. Id reinstall arena and play a few games with you if you have arena cards from then. Dm me.

RE: Roll Call
@BShark may your new carpet offgasing be brief and your mtg mechanics be synergistic in unforeseen delightful ways. Fairly recently we got a few boxes of mtg avatar set. Artwork was true to the show and pretty.

Roll Call
Been a while since we did this…. Who’s still with us? Hope you are all well. Our community is special. Ive loved kicking through the offseason so far with you guys. The nature updates and the joy of KU baseball success have been fun, besides speculation on the bball roster.
To the old timers, won’t you log in and say hi if you’re lurking? Tell us how you’re doing. I’m sure people on here besides myself would like to hear from you. Thanks.

RE: Darryn Peterson
I don't see it with Boozer, he's neither freakishly athletic, nor ridiculously skilled, nor incredibly clutch. The other 3 guys all can lay claim in one of those areas I think? But maybe I just hate Duke.
-
RE: Darryn Peterson
You know what 26-27 roster is missing? DP.
-
RE: Darryn Peterson
DP is going top 4. My choice would be either wilson or DP, then Dybansa and then Boozer.
Im assuming dybansa and boozer first though, then DP and Wilson.

RE: Shawshank Still Lovely
@ARbosshawk Morgan Freeman man. Absolutely slayed that role. Did Tom Hanks win best actor for Philadelphia over Morgan Freeman in 1994? Oh well. Oscars always a popularity contest. Like Denzel Washington winning for Training Day over Sam Rockwell in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002.

RE: Shawshank Still Lovely
Also very glad that Tom Hanks had scheduling conflicts with Forrest Gump and Tim Robbins ended up Andy Dufresne

RE: Darryn Peterson
I paid the guy back though, it was the least i could do.

I had forgotten that i asked to see another doctor in the practice. I guess that was the last straw. It worked out. To hell with Schutrumpf and to hell with Bon Secours West End.
