Luna, Richards and Freese are the biggest winners in this tournament i think, and maybe Arfsten. Richards would be WC no matter what, but vying for starter role. The other guys proved they belong.

RE: Generic soccer thread
Have to go back and watch but i think the set piece that resulted in goal for mexico was a bs call against Luna.

RE: Generic soccer thread
Btw freeman played 90 minutes and had 1 tackle.

RE: ROUNDBALL CLASSIC
@RockChalkinTexas you are whom I’m most excited to come back, and here you are! Also, DMack!

RE: Generic soccer thread
@BShark i think awful is harsh for Agyemang. Hustle is there, hes just too large. I find myself wishing his bones were shorter so his feet could contact the ball where it needs to be contacted.

RE: Generic soccer thread
I think the opposite about Freemans “pedigree”. “This kid who is lost on defense only made the team because of nepotism”
-
RE: Recruiting Notes
@BShark nice. Would be great to put the core of that class together early
-
RE: Generic soccer thread
@BShark yep but these are our A list CBs. Biggest weakness imo
-
RE: Generic soccer thread
Poch getting it done without the regular attacking options.
Luna is a tough kid. He Mcglynn and de la Torre will all be there for WC.
Cade Cowell continues to struggle for club at Guadelajara. Looks like he will be on the outside looking in.
Nice to see Tyler Adams looking healthy and sharp.
Our CBs arent getting any younger or more talented. Im scared of a Ream, Zimmerman, Richards, Robinson rotation.

RE: 2025-26 Schedule
This schedule was already loaded. At least tbese are 2 historically good teams

RE: My memorable moments
@Texas-Hawk-10 wow not only 2 top 5 match ups but also Ws.
Also, the first 4 times I went to watch KU play Texas in Austin were all losses including one of KU’s 3 losses during the 2008 title run.
Good thing Texas kicked Barnes to the curb and then deposited themselves on that B12 curb.

RE: My memorable moments
@wissox enjoying the thread. Great stuff!

RE: Jayhawks in the pros
@Texas-Hawk-10 I am fascinated to see how Juan does with talent around him. Hope he finds his mojo.

RE: 2025 Recruiting
Crazy that Coward went 11th to the Grizzlies. Having uncertainty about whether to stay in to being drafted 11th seems a massive jump. Was there a mistake in valuation somewhere?

RE: Jayhawks in the pros
@Texas-Hawk-10 I am surprised. Pelicans were 21-61 last season. Wouldnt you take a flyer on more raw, high upside guys? Not guys with very specific and limited skill sets. I would have expected him to get a flyer on a more competitive team with a clearly defined role, like protect a lead by trading buckets, maybe paired with a rim protector.

RE: KU Roster for 25-26
@wissox there is no singular in “jazz”, bro!
-
RE: The portal.
Have a hard time betting he will retire since this feels like the first coherent roster weve put together in the NIL era. Bill might have a few in him yet.

RE: KU Roster for 25-26
What a difference a year makes. Would be fine if espn hype train ignores us completely until we make some noise.
-
RE: The portal.
@Texas-Hawk-10 ive watched the near perfect game durant had against us several times where we still beat him. Also, we shut down Flagg didnt we? Granted that was early in the season, before he got good and we got bad. Anyway, yeah Mobley was special.
-
RE: The portal.
@BShark so are we still down a starting wing then?
-
RE: The portal.
Who knew? A winning fantasy strat saving cabbage til the end could be a winner irl too

RE: The portal.
43% from 3? Man. All worth the wait seems like.

RE: Jayhawk football schedule. Wissox Forecast.
@dylans hoping an investment in football now is an investment in basketball later.

Lance’ll make em dance

RE: The portal.
Are we getting closer to imposing harder transfer rules now that universities can pay athletes directly and there is a clearer contractual legal path? I dont think NIL destroyed college sports, it just pulled the curtain back. Now we have to align what the schools and fans want with what the athletes want. Time to make the fans happy and lock kids into multiyear contracts.

RE: The portal.
I would have taken 2 years of Konan over 2 years of Dickinson in a heartbeat
-
RE: Generic soccer thread
Also Diego Luna continues to show a different level of toughness
-
RE: Generic soccer thread
Jack McGlynn looking like he may be something special.
-
RE: Jacque Vaughn... Thoughts?
@dylans music to my ears. Hunger, humility, charisma.
Looking forward to it!

RE: The portal.
@SlimShaddy54 ha. I’m lurking.
Watching the Inter Miami game.

RE: The portal.
Looks like a dawg with an edge. Prob room on this roster for his personality, def his skillset.

RE: Generic soccer thread
Unfortunately, there are reasons why the best coaches and most talented players are seldom the ones that are our champions.
-
RE: Generic soccer thread
effort and passion is lacking throughout the entire American pay to play system. We shelter these kids from real competition, and we approach competition as a showcase for individual talent. That team was probably exponentially harder than teams many of them have faced on the pitch and it shouldnt be that way.

RE: Generic soccer thread
@rockchalkjayhawk he’s being the exact opposite of Berhalter
instead of grinding out games with retreads he is throwing the kids in the fire and letting them take a beating.
I agree people are grumbly. Hope he and the federation are prepared for a firestorm. Nice to see Berhalter’s kid still got his nepotistic chance in the sun. In a nation of 350 million people, what are the chances his son is good enough on merit alone. I know the answer. Its fine, hes just as good as thousands of other kids who wont get that shot. Why not him?

RE: Generic soccer thread
I have faith that Pochettino is building something but our building out of the backfield was mentally sluggish. First goal was a pass with the outside of the right foot as he ranged left by Johnny Cardoza that bounced off the pressing player for a goal. The simple play was to pass back to keep or wingback and at least carry that with his left so he can shield with his body.
Hope its a learning moment.
Our back 4 wasnt good enough when it was veteran retreads every game under Berhalter so i like working with the youth. I am a little concerned that Miles Robinson isnt good enough.

RE: Generic soccer thread
@rockchalkjayhawk im happy the young guys are playing but it was tough to watch. I bailed at half.
-
RE: The portal.
@BShark yeah i mean i have no idea who is legit and who isnt. If you guys in the know on who to trust have time to put together a list of which sources to read that would be super helpful for us to play along at home
you drop a name here and there but ive been too lazy to aggregate

So… how much NIL is a 4.0 GPA worth?

@SlimShaddy54 struggling to find info on him. Got a link?
