Robert Redfield gets top honor for worst supporting actor this week.

Excellent statistical analysis here: https://twitter.com/acyn/status/1286420196840763393?s=21

@benshawks08 Kansas has been healed! I can’t believe nobody asked about that stupid map or about the bounties on our soldiers.
-
I just finished the Swan interview. As bad as I thought it would be from the memes and social media, it was much, much worse. It’s abundantly clear he’s incredibly in over his head, and knows very little about the state of the country.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Then Biden makes continues to make racist comments like this https://www.kake.com/story/42470296/biden-risks-alienating-young-black-voters-after-race-remarks?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_KAKE-TV
Been saying all along we are screwed either way.
-
Racially insensitive:
- Biden: Occasionally makes comments that suggest he is racially insensitive
- Trump: Repeatedly makes insensitive and incendiary comments and voices support for racist groups.
Inappropriate sexual advances:
- Biden: Has been accused by one person
- Trump: Boasted about grabbing pu**y in an interview on live radio, numerous video and photographic evidence including his association with Jeffrey Epstein, not to mention numerous allegations from business women to prostitutes.
Call me crazy, but I’m going to go with Biden if we keep dredging up this kind of stuff about Biden.
There are plenty of other things that are not great about Biden. But we’re talking many degrees of magnitude between these two humans. One is like a hand grenade and the other is like 2750 tons of ammonium nitrate.
-
@bskeet more than one woman has come forward and accused him of sexual assault. I think it’s closer to a dozen and if you watch him embrace women, he is without question unbelievably handsy to put it nicely. That’s before you get into the videos of him inappropriately touching and sniffing young women. It really shouldn’t matter how many times it has happened. Once is too many times. As I’ve always said to the Democrats May as well say “Vote for our rapist pedophile!! He’s better than the other one”. Think of how stupid that sounds. Since Bill Clinton has been in office the Democrats have not cared about the actions of their nominees but criticize the opposition for the same thing. It’s called hypocrisy my friend and there is a ton of in politics these days. Edit: I’ve also heard Biden say more racist things than Trump.
-

I don’t know what to say to this.
We are certainly NOT hearing or seeing the same things.
I’m not going to defend Biden. I already said there is plenty of reasons to be apprehensive about Biden.
But my decision will be based on Trump’s body of work. And, taking that into account, a banana peel has more integrity, is more qualified to perform the duties of the presidency and is less dangerous — even if you are running with forks — than Trump.
I mean, c’mon! He’s botched this whole pandemic and recovery stimulus and made the US look more inept than most 3rd world countries. The resulting health costs are going to be ginormous… and the national debt which has soared, is going to take a century of sacrifice to reconcile.
-
@bskeet haha I like the banana peel comment. If the people want change, they won’t vote for either guy. They both aren’t fit to lead a chuckie cheese let alone a country.
-
@kjayhawks I think you are underselling the amount of damage Trump can do over replacement with 4 more years. Irreparable.
-
There are 2 members of the house and zero members of the senate that are not Republican or Democrat. If you want to make change I think you start there not throwing your vote away for a 3rd party presidential candidate, a la Kanye West supporters.
-
@approxinfinity I agree about Kanye being a joke but it’s gonna the same crap if a Democrat or republican goes in. I say we vote every last one of the turds out. I’ll be honest with you Trump being in the White House has had zero to little effect on me personally. I had little effect with Bush’s second term when I was barely an adult. The major effect I’ve had by a president was my healthcare sky rocketing under Obama.
-
@kjayhawks is living through a mishandled pandemic with your country on lockdown not affecting you personally? I have to think that you don’t think Trump is affecting you personally because you’re not giving him enough credit.
-
@approxinfinity that could true but I still firmly believe the Democrats would’ve screwed it up as well. Most of them weren’t taking seriously for months either.
-
“Vote the bums out” is how we got Trump. WE COULDVE HAD JEB!.

How does continuing to vote for members of a 2 party system stop the problems that have been created by having a 2 party system since basically Washington left office?
Obviously Kanye isn’t the answer, but voting third party isn’t throwing your vote away. It’s telling the two parties to “f-off, I’m done with your shit.” This notion that voting third party is throwing your vote away is a myth. Is a third party candidate like Jo Jorgensen, a legitimate third party option unlike Kanye, going to win in 2020? No, but that doesn’t mean that people who are sick of Dems and Reps should settle for the “lesser of two evils” which was a very common response to why someone voted Trump or Clinton 4 years ago. Baby steps are important though and this election cycle would be a huge victory for the entire country if the campaign to get Jo Jorgensen on the debates with Trump and Biden are successful.
Even if people disagree with Libertarian ideology, just seeing someone in the presidential debates that isn’t a Dem. or Rep. would be a huge wake up call to people that there are more than two options out there.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I don’t think it’s a myth, I think it’s circumstantial. I’m not saying that in every presidential election voting for a 3rd party candidate is throwing your vote away. I’m saying that in this one, Trump must lose. I appreciate that seeing a viable 3rd party candidate in the debates would be good. I just don’t think we can survive 4 more years of Trump and wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize his defenestration.
Getting a third party candidate on the stage isn’t the same thing as voting 3rd party.
-
Each voter has to rank their priorities and vote as such. Mine are: 1. Get rid of Trump 2. Preserve the Republican Senate 3. Throw out as many incumbents as possible. So my ballot is going to look really weird. I’ll probably vote D President, R Senate, L House, R most statewides, R legislature (my district is deep, deep blue).
-
@FarmerJayhawk “Weird” ballots are good. It sends a message to the parties (not the same message as voting for a 3rd party candidate, but similar) and it doesn’t ‘throw a vote away’.
I have always voted like that. I like to think it means I’m voting for “the person” and I don’t subsume values that perfectly align down party lines.
-
You’re talking as if Trump is BAU; he’s not.

I’m going to start paying a lot more attention to Republican primaries.
-
While Harris certainly has a problematic history as an AD and Biden supports some policies I don’t necessarily agree with it sometime helps to remember the guy they are running against retweets stuff like this truly believing he was sent by god to defeat his enemies (the democrats): https://twitter.com/rrocksss/status/1263460372922667008?s=21 And
https://twitter.com/dcexaminer/status/1293940357575581696?s=21
Not a great look of unity is what you are after.
-
Yeah. It’s the choice between “meh” or “disaster and the destruction of our democracy”.
MEH ALL DAY LONG, BABY!!!
-
@approxinfinity And I’m all for finding candidates I am truly excited about but feel like that has to happen on the local level. Just not a viable option at the National and often even state level at this point.
-
@benshawks08 Any Democrat in the debates with the exception of Bloomberg and Williamson would have been better than Kamala. Better candidates are getting to the national stage. Same thing happened to the Republicans. Trump, a horrible person, managed to beat out a more qualified, more humane field.
Unless you’re specifically talking about candidates of color. To which I would say Yang was solid, and aging like a fine wine rn. And Obama obviously made it.
Something is wrong here that isn’t solved by getting better local politicians elected.
-
@approxinfinity Oh yeah. Totally agree. Forgot about Bloomberg. Thank god it isn’t him. That’s why I said “at this point” meaning the pick is made, the primaries are over, etc.

So freaking scary.
-
Lmao Steve Bannon.
Damn near every advisor to that 2016 campaign is going to have spent time in jail.
This is hysterical!! How many more people close to Trump have to go to prison before it clicks?
-
@Kcmatt7 absolutely. Totally picking up what you’re dropping, my QAnon brother. </sad sarcasm>
-
Galaxy brain time. Maybe QAnon was right at the beginning when they said Robert Mueller was Q??

Actually I’m Q and I use this account to throw off the scent.

I asked a member of the RNC about this. They told me due to covid they couldn’t bring the whole platform committee together so they just adopted the 2016 platform.
-
@FarmerJayhawk were they trying to do it by mail?

Ha! Might have been easier than teaching a bunch of older folks how to use Zoom tbh
-
@FarmerJayhawk a cop out. I expected nothing more.
They don’t have aides that could help them use a computer?
“Continued enthusiastic support of Trump’s America First agenda…” 176,802 dead and counting. Still first!
-
Wasn’t trump making fun of the virtual dnc for being so boring, shooting speeches ahead of time, Michelle being 20,000 deaths short. I thought they were going to be live?
-
Wow they actually have a couple that pointed their guns at BLM protesters as speakers?
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/24/rnc-schedule-speakers-tonight.html
Yeah but… No amendments to the platform right? Was that part of the 2016 platform then?

No, they’re all volunteers. I’m not defending it, that’s just what the committee voted to do. Platforms are garbage that nobody reads or cares about anyway since the parties are so weak ¯_(ツ)_/¯
-
-
@FarmerJayhawk wow that’s sad. So… Why not sell the house and move to a nicer neighborhood? I mean… It sounds like the Democratic Party would be a likely landing spot for disillusioned conservatives. Force the Democratic party to stay centrist and the progressives have to jump ship or stay anchored.
-
@approxinfinity I’ve never been a Republican, probably a touch more to the right than left on most subjects. But both parties have just grown into a bunch of hypocritical fools. They changed back and forth on what they believe. Look up Democrats as recently as Clinton, then go back to Kennedy and FDR. All 3 of those guys would be considered far right if they were running today. The two party system has failed us for much of my life by making us choose between the lesser of evils. If really want change (Obama preached it but little actually changed) vote 3rd party.
-
The change I want is this ass-clown out or the oval office. The problem with a dichotomy is that it is self perpetuating. One does not want to give up leverage to the “greater of two evils” with no chance of victory for the 3rd party candidate you would like to support. And running a convincing winning campaign as a third party candidate to date has not been very plausible. Maybe if third parties get better at leveraging social media or something. Build online pacts to agree they will all vote for the 3rd party guy, etc.

I watched the DNC last week and it reinforced all the reasons I’m not a Democrat
-
@FarmerJayhawk well, I can’t say I watched most of it; I didn’t. And I can’t say i didn’t see any stupid moments. So, I’m open to something better. I just can’t trust the Republican Party.
-
@approxinfinity I’m very happy as an independent. In North Carolina independents can vote in either primary so I’ll be one for the foreseeable future.
-
I’m not registered with either party. It’s the same here in Virginia re: primaries, for now.

Reminder Trump appointed this guy

Reminder he was unanimously confirmed by the Senate to multiple executive branch posts and rated as qualified by the ABA. Some rando named Elena Kagan never tried any cases before getting 60some votes to be a Supreme Court Justice.
-
Scotus and the federal judiciary system will be worse due to Trump appointees imo. Mostly due to scotus being so far right now. I’m just here to dump on Trump.
