    I know but still…

  • @kjayhawks You mean a monmouth kid didn’t steal it from our guy at the end? Forget answering that! I just went and checked the game thread and it did happen.

I think it was hilarious. I see some of the bucketites were a little upset but I don’t think it was so bad.

  • @wissox I don’t get u, u get so mad sometimes at poor sportsmanship. This truly was bad! We could’ve run up the score. The kid had some pretty bad language. I actually was embarrassed for him.

  • Self said it to be polite, remember the famous “dick” move by BG?

  • @Crimsonorblue22 How was it poor sportsmanship? His team was losing. I don’t blame him one bit.

  • “If you get one chance in your life to dunk and talk shit at Allen Fieldhouse, you gotta just go for it. You only live once.”

It’s all such nothingness. We need to stay away from the PC etiquette stuff. In this case, P ost C arnage! We gutted this team like a walleye.

  • @wissox Not just losing… They got their asses handed to them.

  • @wissox IMO, the issue was that it is common to dribble out the clock. That’s what was going on. Sometimes, there will be a half hearted effort to play defense…but usually both teams let the game just end. Not a huge deal to me…but it did seem like poor sportsmanship.

  • @wrwlumpy lol I forgot Releford came up to chest bump him. 😂

  • @wrwlumpy Weathermax!!

So I sure hope you wasn’t one of the people on Greene when he made his last second hoop and people jumped his as then. - - If you are then I’m sorry

just like people said about Greene this kid just classless again all Eranura needs to do is point to the scoreboard. - - Ku was just dribbling the clock out instead of doing another scoring at will like they had done to this sorry group - I mean ya we could of made it 114-55 but Bill always backs us off instead of running another ser - -kid pretty thick takes time for him to understand - -sorry you can’t see that

On a plate with a silver spoon lol

  • No one has mentioned that Bill probably made it explosively clear to Tristan in the locker room that the greater sin on the play was thinking you can stop paying attention with 13 seconds left.

  • @mayjay I think he was being polite, due to the coach giving up his first born in apologizing. 🤣 I know, just my opinion, but Self would’ve killed our player for doing that. I would’ve too, as a coach!

  • @Crimsonorblue22 Actually, he did comment publicly about it. From Kyle Boone’s CBS article I just saw:

Self [had] called [Greene’s dunk] “classless,” but Friday he refrained from attacking Papas and instead pointing to the lack of ball security from Enaruna.

"We’ve been on Tristan the whole time about being casual, and that’s a prime example of what happens when you’re casual," he said. "I told the team afterwards he may be on ESPN twice for two dunks: One on him and one he got."

  • @mayjay he said that on post game

  • @mayjay I’m not sure we r on same page here. If one of our kids did that, self wouldn’t have been happy! True, he wants Tristan to protect ball! I think it was a safe out to save face for a very apologetic coach that we had thoroughly embarrassed and the kid had also embarrassed their program. Just my thoughts. I’m ok if u and others think differently. I’d die if my players or my boys would do that, but they’d never do it!

I’m with you - un-acceptable - -if people remember how people was all over Brennan for his act. – No different period

  • @Crimsonorblue22 No difference of op on this! I was just thinking that Bill would have been more upset about our letting it happen. No controversy if Tristan pays attention and does his job. It is different to show up another team (Self rightfully mad at Greene) than to have a pathetic attempt made at showing you up when you have won by 53 pts.

Other coach: rightfully embarrassed. Self: Shakes his head.

  • I bet Tristan doesn’t let that happen again, not that it usually happens. Well, KSU might try it now! Pretty sure Bruce wouldn’t like it, although wasn’t it Barry brown that dinked(lol gonna leave that) after the buzzer on us?

  • @Hawk8086 I can see that viewpoint. But it just made me laugh when I realized what happened from this post! Still does.

  • @jayballer73 There’s a huge difference between doing it when you’re winning and when you’re losing. No I didn’t appreciate Greene doing it then at all and still don’t. Friday made me smile, because as @drgnslayr said “you get a chance to dunk at AFH and talk smack, you do it”.

  • You actually do see losing players give pressure during the dribble it out phase. And you see offensive players try to prevent what happened the other night.

  • I hate unwritten rules of sports. Baseball is full of them of course. Don’t bunt to break up a nohitter, don’t steal when leading by x number of runs late, don’t walk across the mound. When it’s live action, do what the rules allow and don’t look like sissies complaining about it when said player makes a play within the rules!

A second part of this is I hate the butthurt culture of sports. Southerns football coach got all upset because the other team ran onto the field and crossed the logo in the middle of the turf. So a grown man starts whining because some college kids ran on some paint? NFL had to ban taunting because players who weigh 300 pounds and can run fast and is making 50 million bucks are getting butt hurt because some guy running into the end zone celebrates?

  • I’m done!

  • That kid is a first rate duesh. Bottom line. Not ok to do that at any level.

  • @wissox think of unwritten rules as manners. No it’s not against the rules to eat with your filthy pie hole open, but it’s disgusting and will cause people to dislike you/the action. Same difference. It’s just a matter of respecting the culture of the sport. Unfortunately respect of others cultures/differences still isn’t without effort that some are unwilling to put forth. But watch, the culture of baseball is changing. More Latino players are in the game now and as a general rule that like to allow their passion to show, so you see more flamboyant behavior being accepted.

I suppose if every dickhead basketball player played hard until the final whistle regardless of score this wouldn’t seem like such an outlier. But dribbling out the clock is a mercy to keep the score from getting uglier; swallow your pride and accept your fate, a fate created by yourself earlier in this game that is now out of hand.

  • @wissox

I hear you on the “etiquette” in sports… which translates to “political correctness” in the rest of our lives.

What I find a real “head scratcher” is the PC crowd throws fits about things that aren’t politically correct, when it isn’t politically correct to throw fits about political correctness.

The politically correct way to acknowledge when someone isn’t following political correctness is to “raise your eyebrows up and down, either one or two times.”

It seems like the only time we are allowed to discuss political correctness is through comedians, since they have a free pass on what they can say or do.

With the powers invested in me (from myself), and through the powers granted by this forum (cough cough), I hereby ordain each and every participant in this form as official comedians! You are all free to smack anyone else on side the verbal helmet as thy shall wish!

  • @Fightsongwriter But it was a legal basketball play. So he violated an unwritten rule, but legal. I watch these games because it’s a game, it’s fun, I thought it was hilarious. There’s definitely two takes on this, I understand yours too. But I don’t fault a kid for making us smile.

  • It was a legal play, and had he not acted like an ass afterwards, I would have little to say about it. Had he acted like “Hey, what did you expect me to do? I am the opponent!” he could have gotten away with it. But that “I don’t give a f–” was too inflamed, as if he thought KU had been running up the score.

  • @mayjay I personally feel like he did it just because he didn’t want the game to get out of hand. Thirty years from now he can tell his grandkids " we almost beat KU at Allen Fieldhouse because I never gave up!!!

  • In hindsight, Enaruna just shouldn’t have chased him – hands on hips chuckling a bit would have worked nicely.

Or perhaps anice tussle of the player’s hair afterword, you know, a demeaning, “great work Georgie” would have been awesome. Might have sparked a brawl, but still awesome.

I just like imagining what would have happened if a KU player did that when we were losing. I like it best imagining a guy like Anrio Adams or LeGerald Vick doing it. The short leash guys.

  • @HighEliteMajor we know what would have happened!

Agree period. - -Bill was doing them a favor by just standing back and running the clock out. - -The way the game took played could of very easily scored yet ANOTHER Basket - -and this kid is a dick head showed his maturity - looks like he wanted to make sure he could ad to his stats lol hey I got two more points - - guess what sparky - -you still get the L; lol

oh that’s sweet - - so glad your mature on things - - it’s ok – most people look at it the way you do as a double standard - kind of like talking out of both sides of your mouth at the same time - -go ahead it’s ok - -have a great night
