Welcome Bryce Thompson

Look at how happy he is.

Awesome pic

@Marco I think Wilson’s best, and likely primary role is as a 4 under Bill. Marcus/Perry type but will likely take more threes than those two. From what we’ve seen I just don’t think he is a guard/wing. Probably won’t have the handles to be that at KU.
Oh and totally agree on Enaruna. His potential is enormous.
I see the same in Wilson, a stout guy without much handle who can rebound and shoot if open, but has trouble getting open if the ball is in his hands.

@BShark Great pic! Is he in a wheelchair?

There is some more too. Bryce confirmed that he doesn’t care if KU gets a postseason ban, he will still be a Jayhawk and “I would be hurt,” Bryce added, “but I’ll still give my all every game.”
Bryce hopes he has made it so other players will be willing to look at Kansas differently now that he’s taken the chance. “I’m sure we have some more spots that can be filled,” he said, “and I love to fill them with some great players.”
Basically, he is ALL JAYHAWK. I’m excited for him and the team.

@BShark Do you work for the athletic? Lol 5-6th time I recall you post telling people to subscribe. I would but there doesn’t seem to be enough KU specific content. That’d be the only reason I’d subscribe.

I’m just telling people to subscribe if they want to read all of it instead of telling me they can’t.
-
And CJ Moore writes good stuff but they are stretching him by having him also cover KSU and Missouri so it can’t be all KU from him.
I read a lot of NBA content too so for me it is worthwhile.
-
@BShark their Nats coverage this post season was outstanding
-
@BShark The Athletic is a class act. Their coverage of anything sports is usually the best I read anywhere. Now they just need to sign Jesse Newell.

“We good” lolololol

That’s why I said I was dying when I first posted it. Just amazing.

Bryce’s NLI is in.

Great get for next season.

High talent and moving up quickly, class guy and family… Bryce is a major catch! Welcome to Jayhawk land, Bryce!

Does Luther Head have any kids?

Might have to consider subscribing now that Sports Illustrated has been sold, half their staff fired, and the new business plan is designed around generating Web clicks by using lots of independent local stringers reporting on local teams.
Sad time in sports journalism.

@mayjay Print journalism is dying in favor of digital. Sucks in my humble opinion. In some ways it’s like going back to the Stone Age - no recorded history. When digital articles go away there’s no bringing them back. Also many (most?) in their haste to stay current don’t bother archiving the old info just updating and that old info and the snapshot in time it provided is gone. Poof
-
@BShark how much per month is the Athletic?
-
@rockchalkwyo click on it, but don’t sign up right away and they’ll give you a price break.
-
You can also use the 7 day trial to see if you find it worthwhile.
-
Ok great. Thanks guys!
-
As an aside, how absolutely idiotic is it that Kyle Mayberry can’t officially comment on his own brother until he signs? The NCAA really is completely moronic.

I just saw this post. Absolutely agree. I started reading the sports page every morning when I was five years old. Boxscores where heaven – loved MLB and NBA boxes. Nothing like it. I gave up the paper six months ago because it was a joke. Hardly anything in print and “see online edition” all the time. Can’t stand looking at my phone or a computer to read a newpaper.
Something to be said for printed papers and microfishe. Sometimes perfection precedes progress.

Bryce Thompson played against Caleb Love’s (5 star UNC bound) team over the holiday week. I believe Caleb’s team got the narrow victory but Thompson showed his tremendous shooting touch from the perimeter cashing in several 3’s with Love guarding him as well are 3-4 others in the game. I saw not only Thompson’s highlight video but the full video of both teams. Caleb Love is really good as well and its unfortunate he goes to Roy but he definitely looks like a fit there athletically and showed off a nice perimeter shot as well.

Video of Bryce’s commitment call to Self. We’ve already heard the audio before and read the quotes. Guessing someone had the rights to the video and got all pissy.
-
@BShark Thanks for the reminder. I think I watched it. Self almost got choked up about his commitment. Doesn’t sound like a guy getting ready to go anywhere (if that’s the video).

Is Nike still “paying” players? Is UA?
If so, he must have given up money to come to KU. Assuming Adidas isn’t “paying” players on Kansas’ behalf.
Is Adidas still “paying” players on Kansas’ behalf?
If he came to KU without being paid doesn’t that show that top guys don’t have to be paid to come to a school?
I understood “everybody” was doing it.
Do I care at this point? Why do I ask these questions anymore?
Good day.

Lol of course they are. Kentucky didn’t sign 4 5* wing players for the amazing education and scenery in Lexington.
I know for a fact that KU didn’t get Achiwua because Memphis was doing things KU couldn’t due to the NCAA stuff

Bryce was named mvp of the Oklahoma tournament of champions. 27.7 ppg on 53% shooting.

Details on that deleted tweet coming tonight.
-
It’s going to be part of a documentary. Rod Thompson actually talked to this guy and asked him to delete it. The YouTube video was supposed to be private for the time being.

I’m missing something. What’s the story?

A video leaked that wasn’t supposed to.

Good or bad?

@Marco Good. Showed Bill getting emotional to have Bryce coming down. Doesn’t seem like someone packing their bags and heading to the nba.
-
Things to be excited about with this guy on offense next season.
Step back 3 pointer is a signature move of his. Quick release.
Midrange game- Lost art but can be useful and effective when needed.
Ball-handler with size and gets in the paint. Will finish above the rim in transition, on cuts to the basket or around the rim in general.
Cannot leave him wide open, deadly.
