Welcome Bryce Thompson
-
Bill is the man when he’s up against it. Last spring, this fall. He’s incredible. You’re too kind, @jayballer73! A little birdie told me it was “nearly wrapped up” about 3 weeks ago and never heard anything different until it was official this morning.
@Bosthawk a fringy OAD. If he goes supernova and scores 20+ PPG and shoots 45% from 3 then yeah. But I think 2 years a la Dotson is more likely as of now. Bring back Silvio and/or Ochai and we’re loaded for bear again.
-
@Bosthawk I am committed during our “issues” with the NCAA not to complain/whine/wonder at all about any possible OAD recruiting. I won’t. This is an incredible recruiting win. This is an incredibly impressive given the “issues.”

So Is he considered a (gulp) OAD?
Depends on who you ask. Some out there think he has great NBA potential. Some think he might have some growing pains stepping up to the next levels due to him not being an explosive athlete. Anytime you sign a 5 star player your expectation shouldn’t be 4 years. The looming NOA could impact how long he stays as well.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Imagine if only Dotson goes.
Would be a great roster to play 4 out.
Guards/Wings: Harris, Thompson, Garrett, Agbaji, Grant-Foster, Enaruna, Wilson, Braun
5s: Dave/Silvio/Mitch
Cryo-ice Deep Bench: Muscadin
-
I agree about the 2 year plan for Bryce. He does have great size if he ends up being more PG then CG. Regardless its a homerun piece to fit next to Garrett and Harris.
-
@BShark would be similar to this year in that we could match up with absolutely anyone. Big lineup: Thompson, Garrett, Agbaji, Silvio, McCormack Small: Thompson, Garrett, Agbaji, Enaruna, Silvio Death: Harris, Thompson, Agbaji, Garrett, Enaruna

All I know is you just kept saying - - " were good " - -I also heard that Bryce might be here 2 years - - Not quite sure 100% he OAD -I’ll take for however long.
-
@BShark great read!
-
Great find, thanks for sharing. Great day for the future of this team
-
Thompson’s make good basketball players. I can’t even think of a Thompson who was a chump so this is a good get.
-
Still focusing on trash talk. Nothing about the fact that Kansas will be appealing whatever the NCAA decides and might even litigate their current threat.
-
@BShark beside what he said about long. I’ll catch it during a break. Thx

Muscadin is going to play, alot…

Boom…! THE Recruit that I most wanted out of this cycle. It’s all good…

Yeah, the talk with Long might have convinced him this process won’t even effect next year if the appeals and lawsuits drag it out for years. I usually hate delay tactics in litigation, but after the NCAA inexplicably screwed us and the kids over with their refusal to rule in a reasonable time on Diallo, Billy, and SDS (twice), I have no qualms about cheering on every possible strategy to extend it out until the NCAA staff dies of old age.

No way. Probably redshirts as he just isn’t ready. He couldn’t get off the bench at Sunrise.

I give you that… It is his skillset though that makes me feel otherwise. He can bring a changeup coming off the bench at both the 5 and 4.
-
@Marco I think his potential is fantastic. I would bet on him starting to play as a RS SO then possibly starting the year after.

I’m pretty excited about our frontcourt future, no doubt. I like Braun, Enaruna and Muscadin alot, their ability (Enaruna is only going to get better) to run and handle, stretch the floor. It is all good in Bill Land. A damn shame about Wilson, it will be interesting to see what his role might be come next year.

I like this kid already.
-
@Marco I think Wilson’s best, and likely primary role is as a 4 under Bill. Marcus/Perry type but will likely take more threes than those two. From what we’ve seen I just don’t think he is a guard/wing. Probably won’t have the handles to be that at KU.
Oh and totally agree on Enaruna. His potential is enormous.
-
Look at how happy he is.

Awesome pic

I see the same in Wilson, a stout guy without much handle who can rebound and shoot if open, but has trouble getting open if the ball is in his hands.

@BShark Great pic! Is he in a wheelchair?

There is some more too. Bryce confirmed that he doesn’t care if KU gets a postseason ban, he will still be a Jayhawk and “I would be hurt,” Bryce added, “but I’ll still give my all every game.”
Bryce hopes he has made it so other players will be willing to look at Kansas differently now that he’s taken the chance. “I’m sure we have some more spots that can be filled,” he said, “and I love to fill them with some great players.”
Basically, he is ALL JAYHAWK. I’m excited for him and the team.
-
@BShark Do you work for the athletic? Lol 5-6th time I recall you post telling people to subscribe. I would but there doesn’t seem to be enough KU specific content. That’d be the only reason I’d subscribe.

I’m just telling people to subscribe if they want to read all of it instead of telling me they can’t.
-
And CJ Moore writes good stuff but they are stretching him by having him also cover KSU and Missouri so it can’t be all KU from him.
I read a lot of NBA content too so for me it is worthwhile.
-
@BShark their Nats coverage this post season was outstanding
-
@BShark The Athletic is a class act. Their coverage of anything sports is usually the best I read anywhere. Now they just need to sign Jesse Newell.

“We good” lolololol

Great get for next season.

High talent and moving up quickly, class guy and family… Bryce is a major catch! Welcome to Jayhawk land, Bryce!

Does Luther Head have any kids?

Might have to consider subscribing now that Sports Illustrated has been sold, half their staff fired, and the new business plan is designed around generating Web clicks by using lots of independent local stringers reporting on local teams.
Sad time in sports journalism.
-
@mayjay Print journalism is dying in favor of digital. Sucks in my humble opinion. In some ways it’s like going back to the Stone Age - no recorded history. When digital articles go away there’s no bringing them back. Also many (most?) in their haste to stay current don’t bother archiving the old info just updating and that old info and the snapshot in time it provided is gone. Poof

@BShark how much per month is the Athletic?
-
@rockchalkwyo click on it, but don’t sign up right away and they’ll give you a price break.
