2021 Recruiting

Here’s what I pulled from Rivals, “ No matter how you try to defend Adams, he is a hard object to move. When Adams gets the opportunity to get settled on the block and take on anyone when he has the ball in his hands, it usually results in points. Also, Adams gets out into the running lanes in transition, and he attacks hard and runs hard to get all the momentum possible on his way to the basket. Whether it’s rebounding or scoring, everything he does at the rim is with force. Adams shows an in-your-face overall game and don’t allow him to get the ball from a shooting stance because he will size up the basket and sink the mid-range jumper. His range does extend out to the arc, but you want him where he can get to ball off a missed shot.
With his bulk, athleticism, and strength, Adams has versatility to his game and he is a tough match-up at the high school level.”

Seen where w got 2 more CB’S off 247 for KJ - - makes 4 CB’S for the day. - -Checked rivals again it was 75 % to 25 % for Tech - -now KU at 80 % - -but Tech at 31 % - - - umm what ? lol

KU has all the recent expert picks on Rivals. Texas Tech has no expert picks, but a lot of “fan” picks which I think are open to any account with a paid membership. Admittedly, their system can be a bit confusing.

New JUCO offer out
-
KU not involved here but just another example of the rankings struggling to catch up: https://247sports.com/Player/Josh-Minott-46100032/
Unranked but top 5 of Texas, Memphis, Baylor, Maryland and Florida State.

He’s a 5. 6’8 265, pure low post/rebounder type. Doke-esque touch from the line. https://www.loganvols.com/sports/mbkb/2019-20/bios/curry_sydney_t8do
-
@FarmerJayhawk Thank you for that. If we add him with Clemence, and sign Bates and a PG, I’m good.

Any time. That’s kind of where I’m at as well. Without guaranteed PT or ability to put on official visits (where KU is the best in the biz) it’s going to be tough to reach into the top 25 to get guys.
-
@FarmerJayhawk also the ncaa bullshit.
Hickman would be ideal, need an impact guard with Garrett leaving.
-
Surprised we snuck into KJ’s recruitment. Film always stuck out months back when I was looking for a quality 4 combo forward. Didn’t think we had a chance but this looks like consolation from losing on a 5 star talent
-
I like what I’m seeing on youtube. Willing passer, finishes through contact, serviceable jump shot. And yeah seems like the staff turned up the heat after KB went to Baylor, where KJ was initially leaning. Basically a swap if you will.

Oh Mercy Doke touch from the line lol - - -well work to do lol. - -Thanks for the info buddy

offered PG Rahsool Diggins committed to Uconn. As far as we know Hickman remains the main target and hopeful commitment at the PG position.
-
A Class of Clemence, Hickman & Adams would put KU 3rd in the Nation slightly behind Villanova and Baylor FYI.
Seems like a best case scenario class

UConn is back in the game. I see no reason why they shouldn’t be the best basketball school in the AAC.
All things considered Hickman, Bates, Adams, Clemence and a warm body at the 5 would be a home run.
Not fully sure on Bates anymore or who the center will be. I’d be fine with the JUCO kid or Landers as long as Dave is back we don’t need much immediately at the position. Hickman is the big immediate need. Yeah the staff likes Harris but Hickman would come in and start no doubt in my mind.

Yeah I would have said Salis or Bates but I think the ship has sailed with both tbh. Hickman and a true 5 and that’s a solid 4 man class.
I really like Harris and Hickman would be a good complimentary PG to him, a little more scoring punch and just a good all around player imo. I think those two could coexist together if needed.
-
@BeddieKU23 Totally agree, like Frank and Graham. Always good to have more actual guards, as the roster is now we have a LOT of wings.
-
https://247sports.com/Player/DeAnte-Green-46094323/
Speaking of wing/forward type players. NC State is his “dream school” but it sounds like he will visit KU. Think it’s one of those two or Louisville unless Nike swoops in.
-
@BShark Okay, call me a silver linings guy and correct me if I’m wrong, but with our abundance of wings doesn’t KJ seem to be a better fit than KB?
-
@Marco I think the staff views them similarly given the press for Adams after whiffing on KB.

THAT WOULD BE RIGHT ABOUT ADAMS
-
-
Good news is Adams is ultra productive. 23 and 9 for his HS team last year as a junior. Plenty of time to work on the jumper and his body. Ideally could be a nice small ball 4 man.
-
He has pretty good handles from the videos I saw. Could even play SF

Been watching highlights. I think he might be the best realistic option we have at the 5. Yeah he’s undersized but he is THICK and dunks frequently and violently. I think he would be a great back-up 5 for Dave next year.

I was thinking Joey Dorsey as a comp. Starting 5 for Memphis when we beat them in 08. Not the shot blocker Dorsey was, but a really good rebounder and effort guy.
-
@FarmerJayhawk reasonable comp. Actually extremely similar size too. Do you know where he is on the priority list? Self seems more grounded lately but wondering if the staff thinks they have a shot at Reid, Kepnang, Etienne etc…

They’d take any of those guys before Curry. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to take Curry as your only center type guy because he’s only a year behind Dave. I do think it makes some sense to take Curry and a freshman as an insurance policy against Dave going pro (don’t think that’s going to happen) or a transfer.
-
Curry played for the same school as Jay Scrubb who was the Juco that went pro instead of going to Louisville this year.
-
@FarmerJayhawk yeah that’s logical in a normal situation. I’m just not sure they can land any of those guys or the other 5s on the 24/7 target list in the current climate.

Just saw this. Yeah he compiled stats and his team won a lot. 33-2.
BSnow used that same term, production. Also seen it mentioned that he is known for his toughness and rebounding prowess. This kid, assuming he does come to KU, is going to be like Ochai, Lucas, Agbaji and play way more than many fans think he should. So in that sense, I feel this is a smart decision for him lol.

Taking Curry as a bridge to give Gethro an extra year to develop isn’t the worst option. I also can’t see Dave leaving early either so by the time Curry would be gone, Gethro would be entering his 3rd year at KU at that point and be refined enough to start

Adams level of competition in HS last year was pure garbage. Take anything I’ve ever said about the quality of the HS competition Quentin Grimes faced in Houston and copy/paste to Adams except Austin is worse than Houston. The D/FW area is the only area in Texas where there’s a lot of quality basketball teams.

10000% love KJ’S Instagram comit video 2 minute 56 second video just really love the way he put this together, one of the better one’s I have seen for awhile.

Take it with a BIG grain of salt here but Corey Evans on Rivals is predicting KU might be a contender for
Deron Holmes 6’8 PF #37 ranked player from Montverde Fl. No substance to the claim there but interesting to note as he’s a guy I haven’t seen mentioned before.
Quick video scout, Can Shoot the 3, athletic, above average rim protector, would not want him handling the ball.

KU does want him. I figured no chance in hell if AZ wanted him.
-
What’s AZ’s pull with him?
-
KU is not a contender to 5 star Harrison Ingram. Figured with no recent mention of him with KU
-
@BeddieKU23 Holmes is from Arizona originally.
KU did not make Ingram’s final 6.
-
thx. I would take Holmes in a heartbeat and call it a day in the post.
