The offense is the bigger long term concern with this team this year. Vock is the only one who can make a 3, but he’s not going to keep this pace up because he’s always been a streaky shooter and not a pure shooter.
Defenses will pack the paint against KU to try and take away Doke and Dedric and force KU to make 3’s.

Just flat out lazy on defense, yes they are hot but several had not jayhawk within 5 feet of them. This isn’t Middle school guys, teams will hit those all night. This team talent wise is the worse we have had in a very very long time. Both Lawson boys are waste of a scholarship.

Garrett sucks. And Bill has lost the ability to coach defense apparently. Do we really think this team should be this bad defensively?
We have defaulted to a switching defense with piss poor rotations because nobody knows who they are guarding. Am I crazy or did Bill Self win a championship with HARD hedges and aggressive rotations where we jumped lanes and got easy steals?

I remember the times when we had Kaun and Jackson and Arthur would hedge hard and trap an opposing guard at half court, forcing a tough pass that would at least be contested if not stolen.
This is just embarrassing. Bill needs to go and watch his own old film.

Just stop with the hyperbole. This team wasn’t voted preseason #1 because of a lack of talent. I’ll straight up say the two least talented teams in the Bill Self era were the 2011-12,Final Four team and the 2014-15 Kelly Oubre team.
These are the growing pains of a team that has a lot of new pieces and returning pieces in new roles.
This is their 5th game together. Chemistry doesn’t happen overnight and freshmen don’t play like seniors.
This team will lose a few games this year they probably shouldn’t because of their youth and inexperience.
This group will be fine come January and February.

Give Dedric a Redbull, pull Garrett, get Vick open, keep Doke from fouling, stop passing like grade schoolers, and find someone who can finish a drive. Sheesh

I’ve just come to the conclusion this team just doesn’t have it. If Vick doesn’t go nuts we likely have 2 home losses to mid majors. We are probably past due for a down year with 14 straight and 3 straight E8s.

Are some of ya’ll seriously complaining because essentially a new team isn’t playing the caliber of defense a championship team that played together for 3 years played?
Don’t forget that the core of the title team played together for 3 years. That’s 3 years worth of chemistry and knowing what each other player was going to do.
This team has 4 games worth of chemistry. Don’t forget the core of that championship team lost to Bradley in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament and lost a lot of games when they were freshmen. Same deal with the previous 2 KU teams. They lost a lot games when they were young and had a couple of early tournament exits as well.
The issues with this team will not be fixed overnight. Wait until after the Christmas break when KU only plays 3 games between 12/8 and 12/29. That’s when the improvements will happen because that’s when they happen every year.
This is hardly the first year under Self when KU has looked lost at the beginning of the season. The finals and Christmas breaks are always when the most improvements happen for Self teams.
