I love the way you think, but I don’t think anything will happen to Nike, ever. If anything, I think Nike schools will do way more in the future while the Adidas schools will get hammered over the slightest infraction. Zion Williams is literally playing on the court with $100 bills sticking out of his socks, and never a word is spoken. This is two kinds of justice : death penalty type punishment for non-Nike schools, total indifference to the most egregious acts done by Nike schools.

Not quite. According to him KU is one of the schools recruiting him the hardest…and, Lil Yachty who was the headliner at Late Night last year is his favorite rapper, so KU has that going for it.

Kentucky has always been more of a player for Hurt than many thought. If you believe articles from UK writers anyway. I’m not too surprised though.

Braun has good height which will help him. If he can put on some good muscle it will be interesting to see where he is at development wise by year 3. I expect unless the cupboard is bare that he’s a red-shirt candidate. This is the type of kid you’ll get your value in those later years

Excellent comp idea. I haven’t seen enough of Braun to say that’s accurate but if his floor is Ron Baker down the road I’m sure we can all live with that. I like his shooting ability and it looks like he can put the ball on the floor so in KU’s offense, in time, he’s an ideal wing and I can see why they got him signed. I’m intrigued to see how he fits here

Update on Matthew Hurt. He took his visit to Kentucky.
Where do you go from here? I’m going to take an official visit to UNC, not this weekend but the weekend after for UNC vs Gonzaga which is the 15th of December. Then I’m going to take an official visit to Duke in January for the Duke vs Virginia game, whichever weekend that is and then I’m going to visit Kansas in February I think.
Feb 2nd vs Texas Tech or Feb 16 vs West Virginia fit his February visit talk.
What do you say about the perception that Kansas is out in front for you? Most people are saying that because I played for Self at USA in June but I mean I don’t have a leader right now, everyone has the same chance so I would put them overtop of anybody, people can think whatever they want but everyone has the same chance right now.
Sounds just like JRE, doesn’t want to be tied to KU…

USA ball didn’t help any other coach before so it’s naive of us to think it would help Self. KU whiffed in this class. And they really, really need to land a post player. They have a starting spot to give out next season, but nobody wants it. I’m hoping something shakes out this Spring.

Bamba landed at Texas because of his relationship formed with Shaka. It does happen.
Look at Duke’s recruiting edge with K coaching NBA superstars from time to time.
The FBI impact has killed any advantage Self could have gained from coaching USA ball this past summer. I highly doubt JRE goes to Nova without the trial. Hurt will go elsewhere as well because of this.

I definitely agree we need a big, not just any, one that can start at minimum. We need multiple bigs really because I can’t imagine Silvio gets to play here anymore. Unless we somehow gain traction with a top 2019 recruit hopefully there are some graduate transfers worth getting in the spring.
And we better pray to every basketball god Dotson sticks around after this year because the way he’s playing he’s going to have a tough decision by seasons end.

Duke has completely replaced UK as the featured destination for top prospects; Nike has probably realized it gets a better ROI from Duke than Kentucky. UK is no longer looking that good and fans are tired of the revolving door approach and not having players to cheer for more than a few months before they are gone. The squid must be looking at the NBA because the Kentucky natives are getting restless. Coach K will eventually retire barely one step ahead of the law.

Okay so knowing Shay’s dumb ass it might be Achiuwa. That would be incredibly stupid but who knows… Norm is checking in with Achiuwa tomorrow night.
Could be Edwards, that would be equally stupid.
I would hope it’s Enaruna, I think KU could get him.
Hopefully someone with premium there can chime in but I can’t imagine paying for Slant premium…

Not so fast. Remember Ayton was his own words considering only Kansas and the famous (or infamous) crystal ball had him going to KU 100%? Recruitment is not done until the player signs with a program.

Yeah and FSU went elsewhere after being out-bidded for him so if Shaka did get canned it would be interesting to see how that plays out as the incentives in play for him to still go to Texas would be hard to pass on, especially for others in his camp
