New 2019 Recruiting
-
That we will sign more guys this year there is no doubt, which at this point is too obviously occurring after the other blue bloods and Memphis (Penny had better hope that he stays shiney) have gorged themselves and are full. To be honest (silver linings playbook) that might be a good thing, allow us to once again add depth.

Precious announcing this weekend for Memphis.

Memphis was super serious about this class. Will be interested to see how it pans out.
-
Boogie Ellis committed to Memphis tonight
-
@FarmerJayhawk What about Blackshear?
-
Evan put in a pick for Jalen Wilson to KU
Blackshear won’t look at colleges until he determines whether he’s going to stay in the draft or not.
-
Or a guy we recruited a year or two back…Shakur???
-
@FarmerJayhawk getting Jalen would be huge

That would be amazing. Something odd is happening there. Either health or academics.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Ok… what about Jaevin Cumberland? 17.2 ppg…scored 13 against Sparty. Scored 14 against Georgia. Shot 39.9 from 3/ 47.8 from 2 …had 2 to 1 asst to t.o. ratio, and shot 85% from the free throw line. Made 109 3 pointers last year…
-
Time to realize we aren’t finding a starter at guard unless RJ ends up coming. Just going to need Garrett and Ochai to step up.

This is where I’m at. We can add depth but R.J. is the only impact guy left out there.
-
I like Cumberland because he had 15 games where he hit at least 4 3 pointers, and 14 games where he had at least 4 assists. He averaged 1.1 steals a game to boot. He averaged 17 ppg on 12.3 spg, so it’s not like he was shooting 25 shots a game. If there’s a minute left in the game, I want our opponents fouling this guy instead of Marcus.
-
Cumberland would be a great addition. He is transferring? Is he eligible
-
@BeddieKU23 He is eligible. He is ranked one spot higher than Isaiah Moss:
- Jaevin Cumberland, 6-3, 185 pounds, SG, RS Jr., Oakland The cousin of Cincinnati guard Jarron Cumberland is a big-time backcourt scorer. Averaged 17.2 points and 3.5 assists and shot 39.9 percent from 3.
-
Have there been rumors about Cumberland to KU?
-
@Kcmatt7 Yes. I’m starting it…
LOL…
-
@KUSTEVE It seemed like he was favoring Michigan. Perhaps that changes now.
-
@Hawk8086 Speaking of that…

Corey Evans still thinks we land both Hampton and Precious.
-
I’d rather get Wilson than precious
-
But apparently we can’t be too choosy rn

just saw the pick by Evan Famer - - - on the 247 - now those CB’s show that Jalen is at 94% to Michigan for Jalen - -BUT that was all in account BEFORE Berlin resigned to go to Cleveland though right - -so I think that all totally changes - -like new ball game right?

Room for both! It’ll be a massive feeding frenzy if he asks for his release.

Has he even decommitted yet?

Negative, ghostrider.

A Memphis insider just put in a CB pick for Achiuwa to KU. Not sure what is going on here but it smells of manufactured/fake drama.

No sir. This is legit.
-
Not saying it’s done. Because it’s not done to anywhere.
-
it may turn out getting interesting - Memphis insider - some one that is like some kind of so called analyst or a guy who follows recruits and talks with them or what?

Brooks over at the Memphis site is among the best connected out there. He’s since switched back to Memphis.
-
But all I’ve gathered says it’s KU or Memphis and nobody has a great feel for how it will end up.
-
Bossi thinks R.J. is likely to KU, doesn’t have a feel for KU or Memphis for Precious. All the info is in that direction. Too early to say on Jalen Wilson.

So what does people think? -I dunno as for me - - my first take on Wilson after reading this article - - I just kind of think he probably rides this out and more likely then not sticks with Michigan - that would be my 1st take - -yet things can change , we will see.
Now as far as Precious - -this is wild up – down - -up - - down - -possibly - - no way - - possibly - - no way - it would be sweet though. ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

It all depends on what direction Michigan goes with the coaching staff.

There were some comments int he article where he said that he liked how Beilein didn’t try to change the player that he is. Hopefully who he is is exactly what we need and we make that case convincingly.

have to have him ask for his release before anything - that could very well not even happen

Hopefully he asks out of his LOI soon and at least takes visits.

tx guy on the Phog with RJ info had some stuff to share about Jalen. Basically though he was SHOCKED by this happening and is still trying to process it. He was all set to move to Ann Arbor soon and start summer classes.
-
@approxinfinity Doesn’t he like to play 25 feet out?

I’d imagine. Honestly, it feels like a pretty shitty thing for Beilein to do this late. Screws over players and his staff pretty hard.
-
@Kcmatt7 Apparently this was all done with complete stealth. Everyone is shocked. Recruits were not told at all etc

that’s kinda messed up for the recruits
-
I think it’s pretty hard to do everything right leaving a high profile school. Always had a lot of respect for Beilein. Maybe he’s a private guy and didn’t want to disrupt anyone, and didn’t think it was going to happen. I give him the benefit of the doubt here. And also, a free pass for a midlife changeup.
-
It was a weird decision. He must’ve been disgusted by the recruiting payola. The way he exited wasn’t good, but I’ve seen worse. Like Chris Beard walking out on UNLV three weeks into the job.
-
Has it been mentioned here that RJ and Jalen are best friends?
KU was one of his 6 schools he was considering before he committed to Michigan.
I always felt Wilson was one that got away. Had a sort of Tyler Davis feel to it in a way.
It sounds like whoever they hire will be the only thing that matters. If they wait out the hire we’re probably getting excited about nothin burgers.

If they are smart Yaklich will be retained on the staff.

Doing this in Mid-May is a pretty crappy thing to do, regardless of whether or not you’re typically a nice guy.
Screws over current players. Screws over recruits. Screws over the program and university that you spent 12 years at. Screws over assistant coaches.
His only responsibility is to himself, but I’d sure feel like a real asshole doing this the way he did it and especially in the time frame that it happened.
