BAD NEWS FOR DA BEARS
-
The defense hasn’t done terrible thus far, getting shorts fields was a big key in the first.
-
For fans of atrocious football, which I assume is everyone still watching at this point: New Mexico State vs UTEP in just under an hour.
-
Defense has allowed over 400 yards and counting…not that good in my book.
-
@kjayhawks How many times do I have to say it’s crappy play design on KU’s part? This is the 4th time now I’m saying it was a crappy play design.
-
@JayHawkFanToo If you told me we let up less than 30 on the road in this conference, if it holds up. I’d be happy every week, the offense has been the big issue today.

@kjayhawks You rarely see KU receivers run routes past the sticks in those situations, that’s poor coaching and poor play design.
I’m not disagreeing the play wasn’t right looks to me like you clearly stated the WR doesn’t go passed the sticks so which is it? Do you even what your saying buddy?
-
@kjayhawks I’m saying KU receivers do that all the damn time. If it was an occasional occurrence, then you could argue lack of awareness by the receiver. As much as it happens with KU’s receivers, that’s play design and coaching. I haven’t said anything different about it. I’ve said over and over that it’s play design and that’s a coaching issue, not a player issue.

@Texas-Hawk-10 I don’t care if it was the coaching that told him to do that or him it was stupid, as the the announcer even said. You know the guy that played in NFL, that said he should’ve ran the route further, guess he don’t know shit about football.
-
130 yds of penalties today. More than our passing yds, 119 and more than our rushing yds, 89 separately. Terrible, horrible play today. Boo.
-
@stoptheflop yep and most of them on offense.
-
Yeah, Carter Stanley. At least we’ll have over 100 yds. rushing.
-
Ryan Willis leads a TD drive to tie the game for VT.
-
@BShark Willis was the best QB we had In the Beaty era IMO
-
I guess you could say there is progress, pretty much the same team and personal that we lost to in Lawrence by 30 last year. It really all starts with the oline and there lack of protection coupled with numerous penalties.

If not for the 13 penalties which costed them 141 yards, the score could have been worse and still managed 447 yards of offense…and KU is going to see much better offenses the rest of the way.
-
@kjayhawks I didn’t watch the game on TV. I was inside the stadium watching the game in person. KU play designs are so damn bad and that is on the coaches. I don’t give a rat’s ass what an announcer has to say about it. When something happens repeatedly like that, it’s because of the coaching. If KU’s coaches were any good, they would’ve been exploiting the slant routes that Baylor wouldn’t have been able to cover at all.
Are you really that surprised KU’s receivers suck at route running considering the history of this coaching staff? Should the receivers have the awareness to know where the stocks are and run a route past them on 4th down? Absolutely, but when coaches repeatedly tell them to take what the defense gives them, defense is going guard theb1st down line and try and force everything in front of it. It is a coaching issue above all else and why KU has won only 15 or 16 games this decade.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 that’s all I’m saying is run past the marker there, I don’t think anyone is impressed with our playing calling since MM left. I just fell you were attacking me and then agreeing with me, which you are lol. Maybe we both just frustrated at the game, usually we agree.
-
Maybe this thread should be renamed…the bad news bears.
-
@kjayhawks You put play on the receiver, I was putting it on the coaches because of their history of poor play design and play calling, that’s all it was.
-
@Texas-Hawk-10 I said you could put on ether and never said I agreed with the play called. I seldom agree with the play calls of this staff.
-
Well, Beaty might as well start packing up his office.
-
Well as if we needed any worse to happen. - - Texas Tech just blistering Okie State AT Okie St 41-17 - -yippee just what we needed, - you don’t think they won’t come in mad as hell? - lol - -probably looking to drop 70 on us after this
-
@jayballer73 it was shocking to see tech come in to Stillwater and beat the brakes of off Okie state like that.
-
KU did have opportunities to make this game closer today, but didn’t capitalize on those opportunities. The Rui FG miss, not an easy FG in those conditions today, but still makeable for him. The fumbled punt at the end if the first half. If KU recovered and scored, they would’ve had some real momentum going into halftime. And the last one was the Loneker dropped pick 6 in the 3rd quarter. That’s 17 points in missed opportunities KU had today they couldn’t capitalize on.
As frustrating as today was, KU had some opportunities to put points on the board and just failed to capitalize on those chances. That’s the difference between a good team and a bad team though.
-
- Chances KU wins 1 conference game : 20%
- Chances KU wins 2 or more conference games: 5%
- Chances Coach Beaty comes back next season: 10% (increases by 15% with each win)
- Chances Coach Beaty makes it past the midseason break: 50% (increases or decreases by 10% with each win or loss)
Thoughts?
-
@JayHawkFanToo I think Beaty gets The whole season, they would’ve fired him at the Nicholls game if that want the case.
-
@JayHawkFanToo If Beaty doesn’t get fired after WVU, then he’s finishing the year out.
-
Nichols State was the tougher of the non con games and KU had a chance to go 4-0. Even after the first loss, KU was playing two poor teams next and had a chance to get it together, which it did, before playing against Baylor with the best chance to win a conference game, which it did not. If KU wins at least one of the next 2 games, or stays close, he might last the season; however, if the next 2 games are not competitive then he is likely gone at the break.
-
I’m really disappointed with the offense, particularly the offensive line. I no longer have any faith in Doug Meacham. He can leave Lawrence immediately for all the good he’s done. The defense was OK. Bowen’s an idiot for not being ready to stop Brewer’s runs. Eventually, the adjustment was made to stop Brewer from running, but the damage was done. Several of Brewer’s long passes were spot-on, so I give him credit for beating our Dbacks. Coming in, Baylor was averaging 40 pts. a game. The defense kept us in the game, but the offense never showed up, Pathetic really. Please fire Beaty and Meacham right now; I’ll drive them to the Kansas border in any direction they want to go. If not Beaty and Meacham, then fire A.J. Ricker. I can’t believe Beaty was talking up the offensive line during pregame as the most improved unit on the team. The offensive line penalties were drive killers with this offense that can’t move the ball anyway.
-
Seriously have to wonder how this game turns out if Bender isn’t starting. Only drive we scored on Kendrick saved after a holding penalty on the first play. I know he got hurt, but damn, coaches have to be blind to see how having a running QB adds a dimension to this team that Bender doesn’t.
Bender’s only drive we had a chance at scoring on came from a Roughing the passer. And then Bender took a sack to lose 9 yards and put us at borderline FG range.
It isn’t even close to a decision. I hope he can get healthy and start next week.
-
@Kcmatt7 this coaching staff is probably blind deaf and mute.
-
@BShark I wish they were mute.
