@jayballer73 I said my favorite of all time- I didn’t say he was the best of all time.

Check out this analysis. And he went to Mizzou!

So “Champions” are just a part of KU History:

How cute is little Graham in this pic?

@BShark So so cute! His smile is the same. Bet he was a load for his Mom and Grandma. Looks …

@RockChalkinTexas A little bit of mischievous in a certain Austin resident, seems to me!
-
Congrats guys on a great year, but a great 4 yr run in the classroom as well.
Enjoy and have fun
-
Svi turned into a sure NBA player this season. Great 4 year player.
-
God I love senior night! This is the essence of what is GREAT about college ball, and KU in particular
-
Svi killin me with the story about his dad
-
Dtae :’(
-
Man gonna miss Devonte

These last 2 groups of seniors, man tough to see these guys go.

Impossible to not cry during Graham’s speech.

My guess is that when this was taken, KU only had won 3 consecutive titles…

Great young man, glad he’s a hawk for life

These SlantTV youtubes are better than kusports. Better audio (the kusports is muffled and you can’t catch what they are saying in applause) and the scoreboard screen is used so you get the camera cuts to see the people they are talking about.
DG

Clay

Svi

Never realized DG was born to an 8th grade mother. Makes his rise to the top even more remarkable. Congrats to her for raising a young man who will graduate with a college degree and hopefully put that degree to work for him in the NBA!
-
@wissox Yeah, I’m older than Dtae’s mom and I have a 2 year old. Pretty amazing.
-
Man. Couldn’t be prouder supporting this team. DTae will be mayor of Lawrence after the NBA just wait!
-
Thanks for posting those @mayjay

@BShark Happy to! When I saw the difference in the audio and camera shots, I figured it was worth doing.
It was weird, though, because I first posted DG’s from youtube’s address in the chrome address bar when his video was up. Then I clicked on Clay’s which was showing as playing next, and again copied the address from Chrome’s bar. Same with Svi. Each of them showed up in my post as the same screen you see now. But when I played them they all reverted to DG even though the embedded links were different. Delete.
So, after failing a second time (more deletes) I finally figured out that you have to get the youtube link for any subsequent videos to your first one from the dropdown in the box below the video, and then click on the curving arrow that means share. The true link shows up in the box that appears with the sharing choices. Copy, paste back here. Not very intuitive for those of us who just learned from you 3 days ago how to embed!

@Buster-1926 My understanding is that the “requirements” are very subjective. There were originally specific awards that had to be won in order to get up there but I’m not sure that’s the case anymore. I think it’s kinda just up to Self at the moment…

From a Shiver article …
At the prompting of a member of our board, I decided to write an article and start a discussion about retired jerseys because, well, this is what we do in May and June – we talk basketball from the past when we aren’t talking basketball prospect for the future. According to the Kansas Basketball Media Guide:
“The concept of retiring the jerseys of outstanding Jayhawk men’s basketball players was initiated prior to the 1991-92 season when banners honoring Clyde Lovellette, Danny Manning, B.H. Born, Charlie Black, Paul Endacott, Wilt Chamberlain and Charlie Black were unveiled in the south end of Allen Fieldhouse.
“The original criteria for a retired jersey included KU players named college basketball player of the year, most valuable player of the NCAA Tournament or being named a four-time All-American. The list was expanded in 1997 to include Ray Evans, who holds the distinction of being an All-American in both football and basketball.
“The criteria was expanded prior to the 2002-03 season to include consensus first-team All-Americans, two-time first-team All-America selections and Academic All-American of the Year.”
That basically lists the criteria that make someone an “automatic” selection to have his jersey raised to the rafters of Allen Fieldhouse. However, in 2009, Bill Self said, “There is really not a criteria other than the greatest players that play here deserve to be considered for that.” That means that the basketball office and the Athletic Department seem to think there might be other reasons, some perhaps purely emotional, for raising jerseys.

Devonte, frank, Mari some of the recent ones I’ve melted down watching. We have spent 4 years with the ups and downs with these guys, it’s like having a pet you love but have to let go after a few years. Senior night is special here.
What’s kind of sad thinking towards next year is if Vick isn’t back there will be no seniors on the roster…
-
…and this is what UK fans don’t get to experience from their top players. Pretty sad for them actually.
