Agreed, but KU basketball content is in a slow period. I would greatly appreciate if you/others would post links as well (like @bshark et al) to satiate my appetite for KU news, even if it’s fabricated.

The four-star guard said he hopes to begin to whittle his list down after the AAU season and he doesn’t have a date in mind for his commitment. However, asked if he wants to take some kind of a visit to KU, Lewis did respond: “Yes sir.”
“I’ve heard it’s one of the best places for basketball,” Lewis said of Kansas. “I heard it’ll be sold out.”
But basketball won’t be the only factor driving his decision.
Lewis said he’ll be considering a number of things with his college choice, including education and the comfort he feels on campus. He said the largest factor in his recruitment will come down to the relationships he’s able to build with the various staffs and players before he moves away from his family.
Certainly those familial ties are plenty strong — and present — in his recruitment.
“It’s real close,” Lewis said of his relationship with his mother, Natasha. “It’s my mom. She knows everything about me. She had me in her stomach for nine months.”
She might know everything about her son’s recruitment, too.
Natasha told 247Sports she has made it a point to try to talk to every coach that interacts with Lewis. The process, one she called busy yet rewarding, has kept her hands full, but she’s still found the time to enjoy it all.
“I’m very proud of Kira,” Natasha said. “What I’m most proud of is his humility. He’s humble, he doesn’t let that get to him. He’s always been taught to earn things, nothing is given in life.”

Seems the KU offer threw a wrench in Tre Mann’s recruitment. It was looking like he would decide between UT and UF pretty quickly before that.

@BShark Sounds like your 100% correct. - -Sounds like he is very intrigued about KU - - saying that they are right there in his three. - -KU - - - Florida - -& Tennessee , before the KU offer said or sure sounded like he was focusing on Florida and Tennessee then KU entered the picture.
Yet though ANOTHER PG - - -lol - - -I’m sure glad Coach knows what he is doing - - I know it’s not the case but man it just looks like he is recruiting right over the top of Jacobs. - -The question is I think how serious we are in him cause we sure are in his interest.
Then sounds the same with Samuel Williamson. - Sounds to me we have his interest for sure - -plus with his mother a graduate from here & then his brother graduating last year from here - -sounds like a plus for us, - -can’t hurt that’s for sure. - -Sounds like both for sure want to make that Visit to KU might be interesting.

Lewis is a PG too. Staff probably read the tea leaves with RJ Hampton.

One time KU target Marcedus Leech who plummeted down rankings after many injuries committed to ISU. It’s not listed on any of his profiles though, so idk what the deal is.
"Marcedus Leech, a 2019 wing from Poplar Bluff, Mo., recently announced his commitment to Iowa State in a Snapchat post. Leech was a borderline five-star recruit after his freshman season of high school but has struggled to remain healthy. He’s suffered from a stress fracture in his shin and a broken foot.
An athletic scorer with a lot of upside, Leech had the likes of Kansas, Missouri, Florida State and LSU on his radar before picking Iowa State. He’s taken visits to Kansas, Kentucky and Missouri among others and could reignite interest from other schools even after his commitment if he can show he’s the same player from before the injuries.

Robinson is not ranked by Scout, ESPN, Rivals or 247 Sports. He was originally listed as a 2018 recruit but is now classified in the 2019 class. Could this be the mystery recruit?

People still seem to think that we have some strange mystery recruit for this year. - -After Coach Self has come out and said that chances are very good that we hold on to the last scholarship - -I’m not getting it.
As I’ve said before and will say again I guess and Coach Self just recently said it would have to be a perfect fit at this point. This guy there is no way in hell he would be a perfect fit for this years class - -I have stated multiple times unless he could really be beneficial and not just a body to occupy the last spot - -then WE DO NOT NEED THEM.
Why would we try and have a player at the 5 spot no less where he is even a lesser of a need then a 2 or 3 - with a non ranking by ANY of the services how could that even begin to be beneficial? - - that’s just insane - agai n we don’t and at this point hoping we don’t waste it and this guy beyond a doubt would be a total waste considering it being the last available.
Coach Self again said he has no problem holding onto the scholarship especially seeing as we have no Seniors for next year and we could very easily need for next year - -but yet some feel sold there is this mystery recruit

@jayballer73 When has Bill been 100% forthcoming about recruiting? Don’t take it personally I read what you said - paraphrasing the Kansan article- it’s not as much fun to assume recruiting is done as opposed to a mystery man being out there. People aren’t ignoring you or the fact you’re likely correct, it just doesn’t give us anything to talk about.

I totally believe him in that something would have to “fall out of the sky” to fill the last scholarship. With Doke likely coming back, there’s only room on the perimeter. And there’s only two guys I know of are considering reclassifying: Stanley and Lecque. Neither of which is likely to move to 2018.

Depends on what KU needs but assuming that there is an open scholarship, Doke is gone if he comes back, Dedric is gone, Silvio never plays for KU again, Grimes is OAD and all other players stay…
In this case, KU is looking at a 5 player class, and needs at least 2 bigs.
Sign me up for: Hurt, JRE, Lecque, Williamson, Jacobs.
This would be my preferred and realistic class. It’s got depth, some elite talent as well as guys that should be around for multiple years.
I am assuming Hampton has been secured by Duke and even if Cole Anthony wants to go elsewhere, it will be a Nike school.
Other players that would be good that I think KU could realistically land, depending on circumstance: Tre Mann, Josh Green, Malik Hall, Chandler Lawson, Zach Harvey, Kira Lewis.
Feels like a somewhat wide open class and I will be intrigued to see who the top guard and wing targets are (we know Hurt and JRE are the top post targets).

Thought i read somewhere that Dante is likely to end up in 2019 class and believe he would be a KU top target too.

Yep. Looks like KU didn’t prioritize him enough. Lower hoops programs are more willing to put the hammer down early while recruits are lower ranked.

Your probably right. I just hate that this is one that pops early (it’s looking) that’s a top 20 player that KU was on in some way and he’s going elsewhere. We’d be lucky to see one of our other wing targets even pick a school by November

We must have some really good vibes coming from our wing targets. I’m sure we’ll track Hall this summer but it certainly doesn’t look like we’ve full court pressed in any way

@BeddieKU23 Could have Garrett, Cunliffe and KJ all still around and those are all guys you mostly want at the 3 or small 4. Oh also Ochai, who knows how he develops.
If we are looking at Dedric, Doke and Grimes leaving it only has to be a 4 man class, while needing at least 2 bigs. There are a lot of wild cards though. Cunliffe could be squeezed out, the whole SDS situation (plus he could go pro with a good season anyway).

So Marcedus Leech is in fact an ISU commitment, but it’s not public because of something on ISU’s end. They won’t say what of course.

I’d still swing for an elite wing to pair with Marcus. Honestly I have no idea what KJ will do. Usually family likes to stick together so I can see him just moving on with his brother. I think its way too early to know or assume but generally I get that feeling about those situations. A Jr Marcus and a Soph Ochai doesn’t sound bad. Definitely need bigs. Have to swing for an elite guard as well

It wouldn’t shock me if Self and co held out for Hampton’s decision since they already have a back-up plan on board that isn’t a big difference from other PG targets. Except for Lecque. I don’t think you can slow play Lecque hoping to get Hampton but we will see what the staff does. I really like Lecque’s game and keep seeing it mentioned that KU has a real shot.
I could see adding Chandler and keeping KJ. It’s going to be KU vs Penny of course. If Dedric ends up being NPOY (not unrealistic) that’s really gotta make Chandler/his dad think.
Not seeing a truly elite wing that KU has a great shot to land. Lots of “ok” wings which make returning veteran options more appealing. Really like Williamson as a long term prospect. I feel like he just need to keep working on his body, the skills are there. Edit: Maybe Josh Green, but loads of other schools involved deep there.
Very intrigued to see how things go with KU targets over the summer. Only known top targets imo are Hurt, JRE and Hampton. Very real chance at Hurt, expect to land JRE and Hampton to Duke in 2019.

@BeddieKU23 Sorry here , I understand your conversation is about Hall don’t mean to intrude but your right but I also wonder now how serious we are recruiting Harvey any more? - I just kind of get a feel that we may have back off of him a bit. - Seems like he has slide a little in the rankings AND with his little ordeal that came to light not sure if coach Self really wants any questionable types if even in the slightest cases at this juncture. - Seems like the last 2-3 years we have had our share of limelight in the wrong way. - -Just kind of curious exactly how strongly we are really recruiting him at this point? - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Haven’t heard much regarding him with KU. I figure that’s a sign we are not actively after him… Maybe it changes.

I’ve seen it mentioned that KU will be taking a wait and see approach. Still interested but wanting to see how that legal crap turns out.

Well read an article from zags blog just now. Saw where Nico Mannion a 6’3 PG is strongly considering re-classifying to 2019. Said he was taking summer classes and if things went well considering saying going back for his Senior year might be boring.
He is a 6.3 PG from pinnacle Arizona and is looking at these final 10 schools: - - -KU - -Duke- - -Oregon - - - Ariz - - -Utah - - -Villanova- - -Marq - - USC - - UCLA - - & Vanderbilt -a lot of West Coast schools there curious
