2019 Recruiting

@BeddieKU23 I think Stanley is more of a take out of necessity. He is about the last immediate impact Wing left for us besides Precious. Other Blue Bloods are in on everyone else.

I agree Stanley is what it is. Of course we should be excited that we have the chance with a top 30 talent but he’s definitely not a perfect fit or likely to leave California either. Self would be good for him if he was humble and wanted to improve his potential to play for pay. We will see what happens, I’ve always been intrigued by his sheer elite athleticism. They dont grow on trees

Stanley’s visit seems to have went extremely well.
-
-
Has anyone heard anything on how JRE visit went?
-
@Woodrow not yet. He won’t get back to Florida until this afternoon so we may not hear for a few days.
Wiseman’s visit seems to have gone great. Kentucky looks really strong for 2-3 bigs other than Wiseman. Maybe KU more a factor than previously thought?
McBride should be a Jayhawk. We’ll see on Stanley.

Hope it went - -REALLY WELL , for him. I know the late night visits can really make a kids mind sway for a bit - -Hope it made a huge impression , seen the fan support , the facilities , Talked to the staff . - -Yet you know you never know might of had an outstanding visit - - get’s back home , settles down after a couple of days - -you just don’t know how much of a lasting impression he had on his visit. - Gonna be hard to pull from UCLA.- - -I’d sure like to have him here. - -ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY
-
So , now we wait. - -Now we see how late night went , what kind of impression it made with the guys. - I think McBride will commit and probably commit pretty soon. I think now we sit back and wait and see what if any kind of movement we see in the CB. JRE has been here countless times , but this time was a little different. This time was serious , a lot on the line. Going to be interesting , I STILL just have to think he lands up here. Could be wrong - - -wrong ? - -Me ? - -surely not lol.
I think were going to see things start to heat up here soon - -I think next week or two - -be getting a little more insight , I think we will start seeing movement in the CB - - more rumors- - I really look for McBride AND JRE to commit to us in the early signing. – I thinking more and more Hurt will end up waiting till spring , just not getting a good read for a fall commitment from him now.
I think the wild card in this is Cassius Stanley , gonna be hard to pull him off the Coast - -Yet I think we have a better then average Chance now that we have got him back here for an official. If we could land him I would be happier then a huge piece of warm Peach Cobbler tasted. keeping fingers crossed on this one. - -we shall see. - - ROCK CHALK ALL DAY LONG BABY

Looks like Zeke Nnaji is going to cut his list to 5 tomorrow. He was here this weekend.
-
@jayballer73 With Stanley, it’s purely a business decision. His dad is a millionaire agent or something like that. This is all about who they feel gives him the best chance to showcase for the NBA for one year based on what I have read.

HE STILL HAS TO GO VISIT UCLA

KSU commitment: https://247sports.com/Player/DaJuan-Gordon-46055176/
Very solid pick-up for Bruce.

KU made his top 5, Kentucky did not.
-
-
@BShark just saw that. Interesting UK did not.

Final 5 is Arizona, Purdue, UCLA, Baylor, and KU…
-
Well I’ll be damned. Yeah, I like this for us. A lot.
-
@FarmerJayhawk Looked like there was a ton of momentum for UK and now they are surprisingly out. Very interesting for sure. He’s pretty damn big and runs very well for his size from what I’ve seen. Offensive game is very solid. Overall probably needs additional development but will be a good to great college player in time. I’d love to see him at KU…
-
@BShark Definitely. I was pretty surprised. I look at Zeke as Silvio insurance. Or if something weird happens and JRE pops for UNC, which I don’t think happens.

Lol. KU did the same.

I have no idea on Zeke’s recruitment.
I can’t imagine UCLA gets him they have about 6 underclassmen in the frontcourt. With O’Neal redshirting he’s certainly not going anywhere anytime soon.
Baylor is intriguing. They always get quality bigs and know how to use them. He would certainly step into a situation he could start or play major minutes for Drew. The same can be said for Arizona & Purdue that have a need for someone of his talent.
I’m wondering how deep we are in this one. The official visit was sort of last minute news. Never hurts to have someone like him on campus during a big weekend though.

She would be a great get for the women’s team tbh.
Also RE Zeke someone on the phog linked this tweet, from a Minnesota guy: https://twitter.com/RyanJamesMN/status/1046575014319988736
Thinks KU and Arizona are and have been the leaders in this recruitment.

Good find there. I would not be upset at all if he ended up in the class.
-
@BeddieKU23 Yep. For those that don’t know, 247 basically only does that when a kid has committed. Doesn’t even always get out like that beforehand of course.
When KU struck out with Jones and a couple other big guy recruitments I was wondering if KU was in deeper with someone than we thought. I don’t think he is a kid that is all that ready to make huge contributions as a FR but he could be in the rotation and is a guy that could develop very nicely. 6’11’’ with a solid mid-range jump shot and is solid near the basket too. Runs very well for his size.

Shocked that KU and Purdue also offered? She is 6’1" entering her HS freshman year and a top rated prospect for the 2022 class and she already has a number of offers from big programs and will not be in school at the same time as her brother. Much ado about nothing.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Eh, there could be overlap for one year. Zeke is not really a OAD type. It would be absolutely huge for the women’s program if they got her. Hopefully the lady hawks can make the NCAAT this year and get some good momentum going.
-
@BShark Pass. I want that kid that is thrilled to be at KU, not a guy who is just putting in his time.
-
@KUSTEVE what?
-
He might not be a OAD but if he is as good as some think he is, he likely does not stay all 4 years and if he does he is just another role player not really worth all the hype.
-
Was Silvio not worth it if he leaves after this year without ever starting?

So I’m not sure which player you are referring to here. Nnaji?
-
Seen a lot of praise for Nnaji long-term. I agree, in a few years this kid could be a steal for whatever program has him in the fold. At his size and versatility your talking the modern day big-man in the NBA. At KU Self could use him in a variety of ways as I think he’ll be more then capable of playing both forward positions. Ideally, Zeke is the 2nd big KU gets in this class. JRE and Hurt are freshman impact bigs. If KU can go 2-3 out of this trio we’d all be ecstatic.
Remember when Zeke got the KU offer that was big for him. Could have been his dream offer.
-
Wiseman reposting Stanley’s instagram story… Boy what a freaking coup that would be.
Imagine a scenario where we land Hurt, JRE and Wiseman lol. Talk about a jaybate “long stack”
-
@Kcmatt7 This is very good fan fiction. I like it.
-
@BShark I just love the idea of landing Wiseman lol. Not for any other reason than seeing UK fans heads explode. Rupp Rafters would have a meltdown for a full week. A GoFundMe would get started so a private investigator could be hired to look for something shady. People would start the “Faaar Cal!” chant EARLY this season. It would be just one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen lol.

Duke’s board has been in meltdown mode for over a month.
They just had a Top 100 guard on campus for an official visit and didn’t offer him before he left. Fun stuff
-
FYI Arizona’s insider believes it would be " a pretty big surprise" if Zeke Nnaji didn’t end up a Jayhawk. That was his response to a thread about him. Interesting stuff, Jason usually is pretty good with his intel
-
@BeddieKU23 I’d make fun of Duke fans but KU’s 2017 recruiting is still pretty fresh…

Oh yeah I’m not about to gloat or anything but man its insufferable to watch their meltdown. I’ll use that the next time we feel the sky is falling here
-
So does Zeke have any impact on Hurt or JRE? I understand that Hurt and JRE are better players but just curious if it has any real affect…
-
@Woodrow Pretty sure KU would take all three if they could pull it off.
-
@BShark I don’t want him.
-
@BShark Stanley. Son of an agent? Nah.
-
@BShark Well for sure they would. I guess my question is is that really a likely option? Obviously KU isn’t going to take Zeke if they think it is going to hurt them with the big 2. So does KU not feel as good with Hurt and JRE or does Zeke have to wait until those two decide…?
Also JRE should decide early correct?
-
@KUSTEVE Ah okay. Disagree but understand where you are coming from on it.
@Woodrow I think if we see Zeke pop for KU, it’s a fairly clear signal that Silvio is leaving. Jmo.
In terms of KU’s major targets and timelines
McBride - should announce for KU within the week.
JRE - Fall signing.
Nnaji - very likely to announce in the fall, but might not be in time so sign in early November
Stanley - should be a fall decision and signing
Hurt - likely dragging out until spring.
