2026 Transfer Portal Chaos/Madness Thread

@bskeet Yeah the main downside to putting your name in the portal is you could get recruited over. Players coming from P5 level teams likely find landing spots, but I'm sure there will be mid major players thinking they could get a raise and find they don't have a home once everything plays out.
-
@bskeet that’s the way I see it, you may as well put your name in to see if you can make more money elsewhere. These kids most of which know they won’t be making the NBA are going to try to make as much money as they can while they can. Think of it this way in our respective careers if at the end of the year, every company could bid on us. Most of the time we would likely go with the highest bidder. Money talks and Bullshit walks. At this point I think people are starting to see what most D1 universities really are and have been since collegiate sports went mainstream in the 80s. They primarily sports franchises with a subsidiary of education. Think about it the highest paid employees at the university are usually coaches and now the players. The most expensive buildings on campus are sporting venues and locker rooms.
-
SEC bound most likely. They will overpay
-
Diop in from Arizona St. Let's see if the smoke of us working on him during the season amounts to anything.
-
@BeddieKU23 Blackwell the same? Highest bidder?
-
Good rule of thumb: until a visit gets locked in take all interests with a grain of salt. Sorry for the mixed metaphor
-
@wissox83 what about Blackwell?
-
Yeah he's going to get a payday wherever he goes but probably worth it imo, fan of his game. Johnson from Colorado and Taylor of UNC Asheville are the most known guard targets so far, with both expected to visit.

I think a metaphor combining a grain of salt with your thumb is perfectly reasonable as a variation on drinking tequila shots and licking salt on your hand.

David Punch in the portal.

@crimsonblu22 I'll let @wissox answer for himself...but as a Wisconsin fan as well (graduated from KU/grew up in WI)...he's a pass for me. Stats look nice. He had a tendency to pout when things didn't go well. Has all the tools to be a good defender, but no effort. He's also a sub-standard athlete that plays below the rim most of the time. He wouldn't be a Storr-like headcase, but he's not an alpha even if he wants to be.

@BeddieKU23 Make it happen, Bill!

He schooled Flory repeatedly
-
And then there was 2… or 3 depending on what Big Paul does(still not in the portal).
Samis Calderon is in.
-
Big Paul is in the portal
-
@Jayhawk_69 bummer, getting more depressed!
-
What does this say about Self and/or KU? He's coming back, but the entire roster with eligibility (and no NBA shot other than possibly Flory) is jumping ship. Most of the UNC roster entered, but that isn't as surprising given the coaching change. Why are other top programs consistently able to get some of their best players to come back???
-
This might have been Bill's decision. He wants to work with a clean slate.
-
Dai Dai ames Has canceled his visit to Kansas for Monday and has committed to Tennessee
-
Not sad on that one
