Pro Jayhawk updates
-
Frank yanking 1.77 rpg even in the L!
-
So glad RR is still out there making people better.
-
Embiid the Equitorial Monster in the NBA!!!
-
Naadir kicking some kielbasa!!!
-
Just a little curious how some folks were doing professionally. Looks like Cliff is fulfilling some potential…less a 5 game suspension for drugs.
Andrew White is obviously mucked up here. He has 0 stats.
-
On more recent and not so good news from ESPN:
Mason recently underwent an MRI, which revealed a tear in the plantar fascia tendon in his right heel. He’s expected to miss roughly 4-to-6 weeks, James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Spin: Mason had reportedly been dealing with some soreness in his heel, which prompted the Kings to have him undergo additional testing. It’s now been confirmed to be a more serious issue, which will cost him 4-to-6 weeks of action. That would put a return somewhere around mid-to-late February, though that will depend on how well the recovery process goes. The rookie second-round pick’s absence should pave the way for guys like De’Aaron Fox, George Hill and Garrett Temple to see slightly expanded roles.
The Kings certainly could use him, they are 1-6 in the 7 games he has missed so far.

@bmensch1 If it weren’t for the twins, Embiid would have twice as many points as ALL KU big guys in the NBA combined. For “Big Man U” it is pretty surprising how many big men bit players we have produced. Amazing longevity for Nick, Cole, and Darrell as they post avgs of 1 to 3 pts every year.
I read about Nick once that the coaching staff likes having him because he is like another coach, and they can put him in the game without any worries about what to expect. I get that, and expect it is the same with Cole, Darrell, and Tarik, but it is still fascinating to me how the salary rules in the NBA have combined in a way that keeps our guys rich for only a few mins per game.
-
You are correct. When he signed his last contract the gist was that he would not play much but be a mentor to their promising bigs.
On the other hand, Kelly Oubre is having a very quiet but very successful season for the Wizards.
-
JoJo lead the 76ers to a W tonight in the TD Garden over the Celtics. He only lead the team in points (26), rebounds (16), assists (6) and blocks (2). He also was named a starter for the all star game. Marcus had 14 and 6 but the team was a -16 When he was on the floor.
-
@bmensch1 Whoa, didn’t realize White was playing for the Hawks and doing so well. He’s the third leading scorer among former Jayhawks. Who’d a thunk it?
-
@wissox It’s an error. He has no stats.
-
@dylans Wow, that makes him just like me, no stats!
-
@dylans @wissox Yes, he has stats!
In 25 games in the G League this year, Andrew averaged 16.5 pts, 5.2 rebs, and 1.5 assists.
He just signed with Atlanta on Jan 15. That screen shot was only about his lack of NBA game stats.
-
KU fans are going to enjoy this…

The rest were nba stats. So white has no stats yet.

@dylans Bottom half of the chart is G league and foreign.
-
@mayjay Yes you are correct. Wrong thread on my end.

The low minute, low production KU bigs prove how important it is to the NBA GMs and Coaches to fill those slots, when stars allow, with guys that won’t create on- or off-court problems. Most end of bench guys in the NBA are not going to help win rings for them on the floor. Except for the rare projects in development, end of bench (EOB) guys can only lose rings for them. The bling years of gangstah stars filling the EOB slots with their posse members seem mercifully behind us. Today’s high buck stars are relatively level headed and business like in their approach, compared with the gang banger wave of the naught decade. It appears the stars, regardless of back ground, are getting better advice, or at least listening to it more, and telling the stars to surround themselves with EOBers that are professional in approach, rather than partying sycophants. Frankly, this seems one of the most positive signs in the NBA right now. It is being treated more like a profession again, and less like a gold rush.

Wayne Selden dropped a career high last night in a loss to the pelicans. Dude had 31 points off of 11/16, 5/7 from 3 all in 27 minutes. With Chalmers and Harrison injured Wayne should be getting more minutes.
-
@kjayhawks I know Ben Mac had a really great game just recently too! Awesome news, just need a chance
-
Josh Jackson 0-13 today. Ouch!
-
@wissox he had been doing much better too.
-
@Crimsonorblue22 You’re right, I think he had a career high the other day.
-
Did Jeff get cut by the Mavs?
I saw where Cole was voted the most overpaid pro in the NBA.
Current Contract. Cole Aldrich signed a 3 year / $21,900,000 contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves, including $21,900,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $7,300,000. In 2017-18
-
Yes, Withey was released by the Mavs December 19, 2017. If a team headed to the playoffs has an injury, he might be picked up as an insurance policy but given his decreased playing time chances are he might be done with the NBA; this is one time where I really hope I am wrong since Withey is one of my favorite KU players.
-
Not quite pro but former Jayhawk Frankamp has now a NCAA record previously held by Steve Kerr.
-
I think ol Bartenderchic mama was slightly misinformed. Billy preston first game…6 minutes, 3 fouls, 2 points, 1/3 shooting, 1 stael, 1 rebound. I don’t have stats from 2000 years ago, but I’m pretty sure jesus Christ had a better debut.
-
@JayHawkFanToo 40 straight games with a 3 ptr! They corrected the story. Not an NCAA record b/c CF’s came over 2 seasons. Kerr’s record of 38 straight was, and still is, in a single season.
Very impressive for him, tho!
-
@bmensch1 haha agreed. We are 18-4 without him, wished he was playing but I think she got that my kids the next LeBron in her head a little too much. Hopefully he plays well and gets drafted. Jesus was dominate for sure but he made everyone play on WATER!
-
Haven’t paid much attention to Josh Jackson’s rookie year but it looks like he’s starting to turn the corner for the Suns.
Averaging 14.5 points in January which is 4 to 6 points better then any other month so far. He’s had four 20 point efforts in the past few weeks. The Suns are no good but its nice to see they are finally letting their first round pick play more and impact the game. Seems like he’s starting to respond
-
Selden started last night and had 24, 6 3’s… doing well lately
-
Embiid and Selden also had great outings with Selden leading all scorers. Marcus also had a good game but had a nasty fall after a dunk and had to leave the game. A good night for a Jayhawk players.
-
@JayHawkFanToo Selden’s usage in a tournament I’m playing on Draft Kings is 41% tonight. That means the cats out of the bag. I’ve been using him and Markieff the last few days and have been doing real well.
-
Selden’s last year version is one of my favorite Jayhawks. That was a great season that ended prematurely. I’m glad to see he’s playing well.
-
Jackson has scored 20+ in 4 straight games for the Suns. His shooting numbers are still really bad but its nice to see him finally adjusting the game and contributing
-
@wissox Selden was great as a junior, I still think that team was one of Self’s best that didnt get to the FF. The World University Games really jump started that year and he was awesome. I still remember the goofy commentators “Selden smooth as creamy peanut butter” lol.
-
Arthur made a rare appearance and had a decent line. Oubre still playing great and although he is coming off the bench, he is playing starter minutes; great but quiet season.
-
@BeddieKU23 Phoenix just has no idea how to utilize their roster.
Booker at PG, JJ at 2, Warren at 3. Their 3 best players are all playing out of position currently.
And instead of them drafting a PG this year, we all know they will draft Porter Jr or Jaren Jackson because they love 6’8 athletes too much.
-
@bmensch1 CooL! Nice get on the stat updates!!
-
16 and 10 for JJ for the hopeless Suns
-
Yeah the Suns are a mess. At least JJ is getting a ton of PT at this point
-
Grown man line
Embiid 27, 12 and 3 blocks in a win over the Wizards. Oubre had 10, Morris 11
-
Billy Preston
1st game: 6 minutes, 2 points, 1 rebound, 1 of 3 shooting (0-0 from the line, 0-0 from 3), -2 +/-, 3 fouls in a 94-92 winning game
2nd game: 20 minutes, 11 points, 6 rebounds, 4 of 12 shooting (3-4 from the line, 0-1 from 3), -10 +/-, 5 fouls in a 93-79 loss
-
@bmensch1 how many games left? Nobody wins!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 There are only 3 more games left. It’s weird…they play on the 9th…and then take a month off (or so) till 3/2 and then play on 3/9. weird schedule.
I tried to find out how much cash he gave up KU for…but trying to find the bottom of the barrel eurobasketball salaries is quite difficult. I merely tried to math it out and came with he’s somewhere in the $2k to $4k per month based on yearly budget for the club. Probably gets a car and an apartment too. (I hate to set myself up with that perfect softball right there for the internet trolls, but it’s typical in Europe to give that to Americans)
-
@bmensch1 That salary would be what he gave up being in limbo for. We may never know what he got for giving up KU, but it may have also included a car…
-
@bmensch1 that’s awful!
-
@Crimsonorblue22 …Awfully appropriate.
-
Wiggins became the 6th youngest player in NBA history to reach 6,000 points. Elpoyo threw his TV seeing that.

There is a dumpster fire level thread on this on the phog if you are interested. Elpoyo is the third member of the troll trinity along with a couple that posted in that thread.
